Countrygurl, if I could please?
Everyone camping together in the same camping space needs to arrive together and each person needs to have tickets for the festival.
Will we receive wristbands when we check-in? Those of us that are meeting the RV and parking in the spare lot would need to show we're camping to get into the spare lot wouldn't we? How do we do that? Will the RV be given people passes to meet us and hand out? Or do we all have to arrive with the RV together?
How do we come/go? Do we have to have our tickets on us at all times? Scary idea. This question is for tent camping and for RV camping so are there any differences?
If we rent an RV and they deliver it for us, exactly how does that work? The delivery driver wouldn't have festival tickets. How would they park it for us? What is the procedure for that?
Why is the Forum campground missing from the map on the camping page?
In the tent camping you only need to purchase one spot for the group?
Maybe you could lay out a scenario to tell us exactly how it works. Five people coming from different places with an RV that's being delivered. How do we do that?
Thank you! You're the bestest question answerer ever.

YES! Please clarify. On the camping page there is NO MENTION of WRISTBANDS only that every camper must have a festival ticket. So basically that means every person with a festival ticket can enter the campgorunds...ummmm thats a lot of people...lol!!
Will wristbands be handed out upon check-in and all the campers for that site must be present and show their festival ticket??
And if there are no wristbands, how will campers be distinguished from non-campers for the in and out privilege??
Or is it a free for all?? Hahaha!! ;)

Countrygurl may be the best one to address all the questions, but having my RV delivered last year was a piece of cake. I made sure Bert had a copy of my ticket and section info. He checked in at the gates with my documents, told them he was delivering only. They let him delivery several units and we had no problems. He and I kept in touch so we knew where the unit was. When I checked in I told the guys at the gate I had a unit delivered and where it was. They kind of questioned me for a bit, but really had no problems. If there's an easier way, or if Countrygurl has a suggestion I'm sure it would be no problem.

Yeah. I can't imagine that u just need a festival ticket to enter the forum or RV area. Not good security!!! At the RV prices we don't want everyone just passing true. We Ll leave our chairs and coolers etc et. Out and now that 70,000 can just get a wrist band doesn't make that luxury feasible.

Hi.. I used Alberts Rv Rentals, run it all together for his website. Phone- 1 858 922 8626. "Bert" was great to work with. His rental rates were fair, not over inflated like the other RV rental companies. He was reliable, dependable and even delivered the unit to my section!! You provide everything you need for the weekend...linens, kitchen stuff, utensils etc. Very convenient. I talked with him already so he has the dates open. let me know if you have any questions. We used the same RV rental place as Nancy (FestivalFan) and they were awesome! Delivery & set up went smooth. We co-ordinated with the delivery driver "Jose" & drove in to the campsite together. They were reasonably priced too. I think we may use them again next year :)

She's a sassy one. She's typical for 13. Push it a little too far, get a look or comment from me and back off. Talks about boys while wearing Tweetie Bird jammies. Insist on keeping the baby blanket with one breath and ask for permission to go out on Friday night with the next. Woman/Child.

Personally, I think this is better changing the age to 10, I seen a ton of teenagers that got in for free last year, drinking and partying it up... and so maybe this will deter that a little more if they have to pay to attend. I personally thought there were too many kids there last year compared to previous years. I feel that its a great weekend, but also as a parent would not take any of my children, due to the amount of intoxicated people , and the close proximity that every one is in in GA. Would be different if they had a seat maybe? Anyway my opinion.. i guess.
Kymery
10-09-2009, 07:09 AM
Yeah, I saw lots of "kids" partying it up. And I agree, I would never bring my kids to this event. Maybe the first year, but now that it is considered the "partiers" festival more for the party, than for the artists (unless you are in the front 10 rows) but even then, the people lighting up, the drunk as crap people (me saturday...sorry!!) I felt bad when I looked around at the kids looking a bit shocked at some of their neighbors on the grass.
Maybe they should have a "family area" ahahaha. OH and when Kid Rock and his Drummer sang that song...OH WOW...I was actually embarrassed for my neighbors kids. I was hoping Kid held it down, but that song was way way way left field for this event.
Just for-warning if you do bring kids, do not get mad if there are drunk people cussing it up, puking, falling over, screaming, showing body parts etc...
Oh wait, not any different than TV during prime time.

Kymery's right about kids "developing" earlier and earlier. I work at an elementary school and am amazed sometimes. Just put her in a baggy t-shirt while she enters the venue.

Haha..or have her wear her tweety jammies:D
tgcali
10-09-2009, 11:09 AM
Tweety jammies it is. This will be our third year. She's seen and recognized and commented on the change. She was mad last year at the 'stupid people that can't have fun without climbing into a bottle'.
As a parent, I understand fully what you are saying. She was ten that first year. If it had been like '09 when we went in '07 I wouldn't have brought her back. Period.
But she does remember it before it became a party zone and she is older. The comment she made last year that I quoted above about climbing in a bottle shows me that she's taking the mental road I would like her to take on this issue.
She's deciding that drinking excessively and acting up is stupid. She's coming up quickly on the age where she'll go out on weekends without a chaperon. I'm kind of liking the idea of her having that mentality when the time comes to see her friends doing the same thing.
Not to say she won't experiment, but she'll be looking at those that take it too far and get stupid and not be shy about telling them they're stupid. I can think of worse. In addition, (since kids tend learn from/imitate their parents the most) she's watching me. She's seeing me enjoy myself immensely without getting wasted even while others around us are. She's learning that she doesn't have to do it to excess and she can have more fun actually when she's the one that remembers everything that happened. She's safer too, when she still has control. Those are the lessons I'm hoping to be conveying to her. Her comments/questions to me tell me that I'm succeeding. In this day and age it's dangerous to shelter them too much.
Having said all that, I wouldn't take her to this festival if she was any younger than she is. Not with the party it's turned in to.
For all the party has gotten larger, she LOVES this festival. She LOVES the large group of good friends she and I have made on these boards. People we socialize with throughout the year.
People that did not stint in their own partying last year in our group of 26 in the Forum Campground and yet there was not a single incident/word that I found inappropriate. She never felt uncomfortable with any of them. Their language was fine. Gestures/Attitude/Behavior...
She asked me why the stupid people that were inside the venue being jacka**es couldn't be more like the people we camp with. People we became friends with on these boards.
If you are new around here I just wanted to share this perspective. I also wanted to mention that the 20 or so of us that obviously know each other, well, we do. We met here and started going to other concerts, sports events, etc. with each other. So join our discussions. Everyone is welcome! And you just might end up with a new group of great friends.:D:p

Awww TG, that was nice. And at first I was thinking I MUST be in the category of stupid drunk people, but I know Andrea had no problem with me, so I hope I'm not (even though I DO get stupid drunk!). And while I wouldn't take my kid either (then again, he's FOUR) I know that LItlle Bit does not impede on anyone's time. Actually she's a great car key watcher :-) and a great addition!
But yeah, the rest of the parents there that are appalled at everything going on, really need to think about where it is they're bringing their kids! I'm sorry, I'm at Stagecoach, and I plan on partying! Of course, I'm not the person getting crazy, but I definitely forget to watch my mouth at times!

No worries Steph! We're going to RV and have a blast. Little Bit squealed again when she asked if you and Sheila would be there and I said yes. She loves you Ladies. IHML too, she's bummed she couldn't see her all year because she was in DC.
Should have seen the grin on her face Chev when she asked if we're going to be in an RV with you and I said 'Yes, I think so.' She asked if I was sure it was OK. I said 'Of course, Chev loves you.' She said 'Really?' and was grinning really big after that.

You weren't anywhere near being 'bad'. None of you were. She and I had great fun laughing at the antics......She saw someone being obnoxious and asked about it. I said they were way drunk and high(their behavior indicated it was more than alcohol). She said 'But our group is drinking a lot and they're not stupid and mean.' How do we get in to our RV if it's delivered for us? Do we have to be there at delivery time? How do we get our stuff in?
the web site says it will have more info in the coming months.
personally, driving it up was a fun experience in itself.

DELIVERED RV?? I have someone delivering my rv.. I am coming later/the next day. How is that going to work? I am nervous.
Don't be nervous. We're going to post a ton more details about delivers. Whether you're renting an rv and having it delivered or your husband/friend/family member is delivering for you but not going. Check back in a month or so.

Bring a wagon or a dolly. (even if they let you unload your car at the RV). I used my red wagon at least twice a day last year. Forgot to bring it in the RV the first day, but when my wife came later in her car, I saw the need and asked her to bring it. Used it when we went to the store for more ice, beer, and food (5 pizzas), and when people showed up with all their crap, i would meet them in the parking lot with the wagon and wouldnt have to carry anything in. Also bring a bike lock so when you go to the parking lot you can lock it up to the fence and not have to load it up in your car while your at the store. (i used the honor system last year and got lucky)

If you guys rent from Cruising Am or El Monte Rv, you'll have to pick up your RV"s and drive them in, which as Edy said is an experience in itself. Plenty of people around will help you get it situated. everyone is so helpful. If you rent from Alberts, he has a crew that delivers early. He has an agreement or makes pre arrangements to have access to the grounds for delivery. He'll place the unit (travel trailer) and then let you know where it is. It was easy, and closer to the date the bugs will get worked out. Karena is still finding the best deal for the group. We were able to drive in and unload. That wasn't a problem, but when we tried to leave later, we were informed we wouldn't be let back in. We turned around and parked. Those details I'm sure are being worked out now. - the access for delivered units and the re entry policy. I am sure they are all aware that was a hugh problem last year especially for those of us in ADA. That would definately be a question worth asking... if your unit is delivered can you bring in your vehicle for unloading? !

I've already booked wit Albert's and Bert was GREAT, thanks Nancy! So here's my question. I'm not worried about getting our actual stuff in, we are allowed one car per RV and can all meet offsite and load those 3 cars up with everybody's things and drive in. My question is....do they search your cars? And if anybody gets there later with alcohol and has to park in the offsite RV parking, are they gonna get searched?

congrats karena, I hope he takes care of all of us this year or we're all doomed. ha ha.
ok...this alcohol question comes up every year, and stays on the boards as an active thread until the day the festival starts. we have never been checked, our cars have never been searched. We all heard what happened to you guys camping and that was just wrong. the corruption was even worse. the "rent-a-security" guys were bought off easy and I wonder if there were any re percussions by their superiors? anyway.. in the RV section things run a little differently. They were respectful of our RV's and cars. Nothing was clearly visible. However.... everyone needs to use good sense, be smart, be discreet and most of all we all need to be careful what we post. Do not let on how you snuck anything in, where you hid the stash, how you bedazzled your keg in as a piece of luggage. ask the questions as a pm to someone who may have the answer. you will surely have a great time in the RV section.

Chevgirl357,
I read your post about 1 car allowed per RV. Remember that is only if you purchase a vehicle pass for $150, see other thread about this. They sold only a limited amt. of these vehicle passes last year. If you want to come in and out, you have to have one of these. They were absolute sticklers on this last year. and also it was only $75 last year.

because it is really hard to figure out where alcohol can be hidden. you guys really think you are keeping any secrets from the powers that be?

ummm, yes. Cooter, you're not one of the gate people. just ask the campers what $20 bought them. ha ha ha .
regardless... it is wise to be discreet.

Expect a curve ball this year. They might (and unfortunately have the right to) search every vehicle even though they didnt last year. Get a back up plan and dont put all your eggs in one basket. I suggest sending a loner or decoy out first to test the water, or call someone who is already in before you get caught with a few hundred bucks worth of booze. Im no expert, but from what i read on this forum from last year we got to get smarter each year. Take me for example... Im going out there this weekend to bury all my bottles of liquor under the grass and mark them with a single ritz cracker. GPS coordinates 33° 43′ 12″ N, 116° 13′ 55″ W. Its awsome... they will never know.

That's just for in and out though, right? I was told by the RV people anyhow that you can bring in one car and leave it there. Is there a charge for ONE vehicle for a one time entry?? I would think it's the same as people bringing trailers in on their trucks, right? Anyone?

LOL, too funny! They are going to confiscate our alcohol, just not let us in with it if that's the case, so then we put it back in our cars parked offsite and figure out another way in :D
I'll go check those coordinates on my GPS (not gaypalmsprings) and be there WEdnesday night to dig it up :p

Exept then they be will looking for you as you already have tried and failed. The entrance line for the RV's is slow and looooong, just send someone to walk ahead and check it out. If you bring your car, do a drive by or walk up ahead first.

Thats why i am dressing up as a groundskeeper so they wont suspect anything. Besides... the shower curtain costume attracts to many guys in skeleton sweatsuits.
