I thought we needed a thread for letting people know about "stuff" that was on sale or at a great price....for camping or music or whatever...

I was just looking at the new Target ad and saw that they have Ladder Ball on sale for $27.99 this week.

I know a lot of people really enjoyed playing it and I thought this was something to point out :)

If you find another great deal, post it here!

They funny thing about the S/C Bocca is the drunker they got, the harder they threw the ball. Pretty soon they were rolling clear across the lots =-]

Hahaha..yeah, they were throwing pretty hard in our yard yesterday. But our damn yard has so many pot holes in it from the previous owners, that we had a tough time playing.

You can buy the cheap target ones, they weight half what they are supposed to, then not so dangerous??

You don't have to buy anything to get this deal. Just go here and for the code enter CITI + 1st two digits of your credit card (i.e. CITI54). Doesn't have to be a Citi card!!!

Order a 2009 Entertainment book and GET $3.00!

This will work for people who don't already have a Cahsbaq account. If you already have a Cashbaq account the Entertainment book will cost you $1.99.

If you aren't familiar with Cashback programs this might be hard to believe but it is legit.

1) Sign up for a Cashbaq account here - http://www.cashbaq.com/?refer=466216

You will get $5 in your account just for signing up. So you've already made $5.

2) After you have an account be sure you are logged in and then click here -
http://click.icptrack.com/icp/relay.php?r=75895685&msgid=904752&act=RCG7&c=372408&admin=0&destination=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.cashbaq.com%2Fshopnow .php%3Fcoupon%3D146979%26tbl%3D14

When you click on the second link you'll be able to buy a 2009 Entertainment book for $7.99 + $1.99 for shipping, so $9.98 total.

After you buy the Entertainment book you'll get another $8 in your Cashbaq account, so you've spent $9.98 but you get $13 back. (If you already have a Cashbaq account you don't get the $5 signup bonus so it ends up costing you $1.99 which is still a great deal.)

Payments from Cashbaq are made on the 20th of each month and you can get the payment mailed by check or transfered to your PayPal account. You can earn cashback from hundreds of stores but your balance has to be at least $10 for them to make a payment to you. If you're signing up for a new account you'll end up with $13 in your account and get a check right away. I've been a member since January and have received over $90 in checks, but I buy almost everything online.

I feel like Vince from Shamwow right about now, but this is a great deal and want to make sure I explain everything right.

NOTE: Be careful when checking out from the Entertainment site. At two or three points along the way they'll try to get you to buy additional crap, and they are sneaky about it so be sure you reject all these offers if you don't want them!

You're a frickin' thief and you brag about it. WTF?

I thought your whole a-hole shtick was an act but I guess not.

If you want the music, the shirt, the conert ticket, etc. then pay for it. ALL OF IT.

The record companies aren't gouging fans, Ticketmaster is. You think only the artist deserves to make money but the record company doesn't? Sure. Let's put all the record companies out of business so there will be no talent development, no concerts, no albums produced and distributed, no videos, etc. Then the artists will really starve.

Besides, I'm 10000% sure if there was a way for you to easily sneak into a concert for free or steal t-shirts without getting caught you would do it. Get off the high horse. You steal music because you can easily get away with it and not get caught. So you rationalize it and try to justify it. You aren't stealing one item instead of the other because you feel sorry for artists. You STEAL what you do because it's cheap, easy, low risk and convenient.

Cry me a river THIEF.

Sorry to all for my rant but people that steal music really bug me. People who steal music then gloat about it... GRRRRRRR!

DRM is digital rights management. It's why when you buy something from iTunes you can only listen to it on your computer(s) and you can only copy it to your iPod.

When you buy from Amazon there is no DRM and there are no strings attached.

Hmmmm....not sure what to say about the whole "music stealing" thing. I don't think you're a bad person if you download from Limewire, etc... I personally just discovered Limewire after spending hundreds on iTunes. I love it. Then again, I've have $2,500 in CD's stolen from my car a couple years ago, so I am now getting back a lot of the music I had then. I'm not paying for it TWICE.

Do you view burning copies of CD's the same? Because I've always done that, and almost everybody I know does that too. I just don't think illegally downloading or even copying CD's makes you scum of the earth. Everybody does SOMETHING illegal. Whether it's not coming to a complete stop at a stop sign, having a drink when you're only 20, peeing in public, etc... I think it's each individuals opinion on what offenses they think crosses the line. Downloading music doesn't cross mine I guess. But of course, to each their own, I can't knock somebody for their beliefs.

P.S. The record companies invented the "record company" business model and they aren't going anywhere.

here's a little something from trent reznor, someone who knows what is going on now in the music industry, giving advice on what a band needs to do to get the job done:

"If you are an unknown / lesser-known artist trying to get noticed / established:

* Establish your goals. What are you trying to do / accomplish? If you are looking for mainstream super-success (think Lady GaGa, Coldplay, U2, Justin Timberlake) - your best bet in my opinion is to look at major labels and prepare to share all revenue streams / creative control / music ownership. To reach that kind of critical mass these days your need old-school marketing muscle and that only comes from major labels. Good luck with that one.

If you're forging your own path, read on.

* Forget thinking you are going to make any real money from record sales. Make your record cheaply (but great) and GIVE IT AWAY. As an artist you want as many people as possible to hear your work. Word of mouth is the only true marketing that matters.
To clarify:
Parter with a TopSpin or similar or build your own website, but what you NEED to do is this - give your music away as high-quality DRM-free MP3s. Collect people's email info in exchange (which means having the infrastructure to do so) and start building your database of potential customers. Then, offer a variety of premium packages for sale and make them limited editions / scarce goods. Base the price and amount available on what you think you can sell. Make the packages special - make them by hand, sign them, make them unique, make them something YOU would want to have as a fan. Make a premium download available that includes high-resolution versions (for sale at a reasonable price) and include the download as something immediately available with any physical purchase. Sell T-shirts. Sell buttons, posters... whatever."

this is the future of the industry.

Chev,

I buy my songs from iTunes and then burn cd's of the songs to play in my car. There's nothing wrong with that in my opinion.

I feel you have to take the whole picture into account. Who physically makes the cds, ships/drives them to the stores, record company employees like clerical, marketing, etc. that don't have the control, the list of people that have their livelihood affected is much larger than you may realize.

You're not just stealing from the record company or the artist, there are literally hundreds of people that feel that collateral damage. Just my view, I'm not judging.

One more thing. Limewire is illegal and they are prosecuting. You will have no way of knowing you've been pegged until it's too late either. Federal crimes/charges. Just an FYI.

I should know, we've had the Feds in our office to pick up defendants that are facing those same charges. It can happen to you. Something to think about.

Just a thought, because now im kinda curious. I didnt know any of that.
Even the people who pay on limewire??? And for the people who dont pay on limewire there are thousands..probably millions utilizing limewire, how are they going to peg one single person apart from the others? Do they have more downloads than the rest, if its illegal why arent the prosecuting the makers, and why is it still an existant website?

Yeah, I heard about the lady that is getting sued for MILLIONS for some songs she downloaded. What I don't know, is how they get your address and information. My computer is an old work computer and not licensed to me nor is my address on it. How does that work? And yeah, how do they pick who they're gonna prosecute out of ALL the people who download. Hmmmm, maybe I will try payin for Limewire. They would have to go after limewire if I thought I was being legit and buying the music, right? I don't mind payin $35 for unlimited downloads.

Is that per month or a flat rate? And I though Limewire was just considered a file sharing site anyhow.

Cooter

your ip address is readily available to anyone who wants to find it, from there it's easy.

and limewire is basically charging you to use a torrent, which is readily available for free.

just download utorrent and head to piratebay or other torrent sites to find what you need. there are also ways to hide your address so you are protected from the po-po.

No No I know who said it, I was apologizing to you for "feeding the trolls" lol. I thought you would get on me for it! So I apologized in advance lol.

Yeah Ive also heard about people getting sued for tons of money, most instances its teens...But there underage so the parents are to blame? Half of them are clueless as to what "limewire" is. If a kid tells there parents I get free music from here, thats what they will continue to think. They dont see it as "Stealing." I thought during only the period of time your downloading people have access to your ip address. Otherwise, if your "not connected" they cant do anything right?
I dont know, Ive had limewire for a couple years. YES, Ive had tons of viruses. If I found something better I would change, but at this point I dont know what "torrents" are. Im not computer savy with codes or any of the stuff unless its self exlplanatory. What about the people who are paying for it, there still responsible for "stealing"? Even if to there knowledge there being charged for it, so its legit in there mind?

LOL, I realized what you meant after I posted that! I have no clue on this stuff honestly. And my IT friend said you won't really get viruses downloading just audio files. WTF????

You realize this is STEALING don't you? You realize this is a criminal activity? It is no better than walking into a Wal Mart and shoplifting! Same exact fu*king thing.

And not only that but your IT friend is an idiot and not very savvy if he thinks you can't get viruses from downloading "audio" files from torents. Torents are one of the biggest sources of computer viruses and other malware. If I were you I wouldn't take any kind of computer advice from this "IT friend" especially on matters of computer security.

The music doesn't belong to you. If you want to own the music legitimately there is a price. It's not up to you to determine if it's the right price or the right method of delivery or who gets the money or anything else.

If you want it you should pay for it. Otherwise you are stealing what is not yours and trying to justify your illegal, criminal activity.

Again, everyone has their own line for "illegal" activities. Have you NEVER done ANYTHING illegal? Doesn't matter what the offense is. In God's eyes no one sin is worse than another. I'm not justifying anything. I just PERSONALLY don't have a problem with downloading music. You are entitled to your opinion and me to mine. I am sure there are many things that would offend me that wouldn't offend you. You have to respect diversity, even if you don't agree with somebody else's choices. I'm still a good person, a great mother, with a lot of great qualities.

I hope you wouldn't attack my personal character based on something like downloading music. I am not a thief, regardless of how YOU view it. I don't think something like that automatically puts a person in that category and it's narrow minded to judge somebody solely on downloading music. I still buy CD's. Like I said, I've had over $2,500 in CD's stolen from me (car was broken into). So should I go re-buy all that music? Nope, not gonna do it!

For the love of God, do not EVER buy music on iTunes if the same thing is available on Amazon. You will be doing yourself a HUGE favor. I can't tell you countless ways buying music on Amazon is better than on iTunes. And there is not a single benefit to buying on iTunes.

And yes, if you buy music on Amazon you'll be able to play it with iTunes and on an iPod.

Why does it matter?

Not only cheaper but DRM free. That's the BIG difference. This means you can play it on any computer you want and on AS MANY computers as you want. Play it on any MP3 player you want. Play it with any music player other than iTunes. Give the file to anyone and they can play it too. Support DRM free music services... I can keep going.

Regardless, there is no advantage to ever buying music from iTunes. I've bought tons and tons of music from Amazon and would never buy locked tracks from Apple. Once you try Amazon you'll never go back.

And very true about Itunes, you cant share etc with them as you can with Amazon downloads.

The Band Perry's new CD is on sale for $5 at 7digital - http://us.7digital.com/artists/the-band-perry/the-band-perry/

7digital has the same advantages as Amazon (over iTunes) but they don't have nearly as many great deals as Amazon.

You kidding? You'd rather pay $15 + tax + gas/time or shipping just to get three extra tracks that probably suck or they would have been on the original disc?

Not me, I'd rather pay $4 and get the regular album. You loco ;-)

Toby's Bullets in the Gun for $5 - http://us.7digital.com/artists/toby-keith/bullets-in-the-gun/

Lisa - There is a deluxe version of this album with 3-4 more tracks on Amazon for double the money. I'm buying the $5 version...

I got the $5 version and burned the extra tracks from my sister who had bought the CD last night. No gas, no more money. I win.

Amazon has the whole deluxe one for $9.49:D

I am loving his new song, but really really love his version of 11mos and 29 days, and also Sundown. Great remix's. So happy he has a good album out finally!!!

Lisa was talking about the Taylor album, the deluxe version of that is ONLY available at Target.

WRT Toby's album, I'd still rather pay half price and not get the bonus tracks. I could buy another $5 album for the price of the bonus tracks. Seriously, these deluxe albums artists are coming out with are just a scam to suck more money out of you. Coming out with two albums simultaneously at drastically different prices is a WTF concept to me. Not gonna let them fleece me!

What's frustrating is when an artist re-releases and album I already bought with new tracks on it. That's happened to me a couple of times now. But I give those artists credit for doing that rather than putting on a couple of extra tracks and rebading it as something special.

This is the kind of crap that makes people download illegally. I won't download illegally but I won't fall for their money making schemes either. They can stick their bonus tracks where the sun don't shine :D

I usually agree, but I LOVE the bonus tracks the most..so I forked out 4 more dollars to get the whole thing. $5 is a bargain, and $9.49 is still a bargain for a 14 song cd...so I don't feel they are screwing me. It is still much less than a normal priced CD but with more songs on it.
