About a month ago, a girl I went to high school with contacted me via facebook asking if I'd be willing to help plan for our 10 year reunion to be held next year. I agreed.

Tonight, a few of us met up...I have to admit, I was terrified! I haven't seen some of these people in a LONG time and honestly, wasn't too thrilled about it. I told the organizer that "to be honest, if i had to decide today, I wouldn't actually go to the reunion..."

So, now I'm a little excited -- they started talking about people whom I had never heard of, people I forgot about, etc. But, the stress set in:

A) What do I wear?!

B) I NEED A DATE! Holy hell! I have no prospects lined up, and the guy I would normally go to for these things is across the country now!

I'm stressing out already for something a year away!

dude i know how you feel, mine is next year too and to answer your questions:

A) go naked, that will really start a rise

B) invite a gay friend and have her go naked too, can you see the jaws drop, huh can ya? lol

My 10 year was a few years ago. Hardly anyone showed up, and out of the ones who did, people still hung out with who they hung out with in high school. But the football players and cheerleaders were the married ones, with kids, and not into the party scene. Then there was me and Kat who dressed up, took a cab and were ready to party. Don't stress...just go in there with a relaxed attitude. You look great and you will make it a great time!

I was on the 10-year reunion committee and had a ton of fun doing it, then I had to miss the event because we had to move from west LA to San Diego. I saw the photos and heard about everybody's life stories though. Wow what a trip that was. Just wait until it's 20 years!!! The real shit hits the fan then, and it's even MORE of a trip!!! LOL

Yeah, I'm not sure I want to go either. For those who have attended a reunion, what went down? Was it a weekend thing, like with the reunion, then a brunch the following morning? What type of place was it held at, how much, etc? We sat down last night and realized we have no idea what we're doing.

Oh, and P.S. I'm now taking date applications! I've never been stressed about needing a date before...ugh!

I kind of feel the same way..My 30th is this summer, my best girlfriend wants me to go. but I honestly do not remember more that 5 classmates. One of them I married,,,, (then divorced).. so what am I supposed to say. Yes, I married Chris, yes I divorced Chris, yes we have 2 kids...yes I still live in Chino Hills. No I do not look the same, you liar. Yes I graduated college.. no Chris did not. No I 'm not a loser, yes Chris is STILL a loser, ha ha, isn't this the way it goes.
Tell me, am I going to rekindle a long lost love ? not likely. Wonder what others have to say about 20, 30 yr reunions.

Go Stag NicoleErin....you don't need a date to ANY function. It will make you socialize and meet people. Just go have fun if you want to go.

a class mate of mine created a web sight for us to all visit on. The most difficult to view is the "memory" page and see whom has already passed away...WAY TO YOUNG!!!

On facebook, another classmate has created a whole network and I'm hooking back up with people I went to Junior High school with.

I don't know how far along you are on the planning but the person who put our 30 together went through a person who does all the work.
I can get you the website if you need it

NicoleErin

Yeah, we contacted a company that puts them together, and they were rated an 'A' with BBB, but we're concerned, with so many companies taking a dive lately that we could be taken advantage of and they just take our money and run.

And, though I've never felt the need for a date for anything...I don't know why I do for this. EVERYONE I can think of is married and/or with a kid and/or divorced. I'm none of that. I'm ok with that, but I feel like I need someone there "on my side" or something. I dont know...

You look the same enough that I recognize you. Kind of.

Your kids aren't any cuter than mine.

Your job title may be fancy, but after a couple of minutes I determined you do clerical support like I do.

You may have a house while I don't, but you live in a place I wouldn't be caught dead in married to a man I wouldn't be caught dead with.

We're facing our 40th birthdays. Cover up girls. And guys for that matter.

If I didn't accept your friend request on a social networking site it's because we weren't friends then and I don't want to pretend we are now.

That about sums it up. No?

Nicole, don't stress it. You don't have to have a date. Most of them will be jealous that you're still free and not tied down while they look down their noses at you for being free and not tied down.....

TG - you are on a roll.

Listen to what she posted....she tells the TRUTH!!!

I have only gone to my 10 year reunion. I took my then-husband who knew no one. He proceeded to get drunk (this was before I realized he was an alcoholic). I looked nothing like I did in high school and no one recognized me. All the cheerleaders were married and fat. All the jocks were fat and bald. I hung out with the same people I did in school. I think we paid $50 for a mediocre dinner at a local restaurant. There was a so-so DJ.

I think reunions are overrated. Eh.

I went stag to my 10 year. It wasn't that much fun for me. If there were people I still wanted to keep in touch with, I am already in contact with them. Ours was just in a ballroom of a hotel--just a dinner....a band was there. Nothing exciting really.

I just basically had my 10 year high school reunion on Saturday night! I went to a party and EVERYBODY I was friends with in high school was there. It was great, there were people I hadn't seen in years! The best part was everyone telling me how great I looked now. Some people didn't even recognize me at first. Of course, then you realize why you didn't keep in touch with some people....

IHML pretty much summed up our 10 year reunion. The things I thought were funny was that people we so surprised that we took a cab and were drinking. We were the party girls of the reunion - guess that was unexpected to some people. "What? YOU drink? YOU have tattoos???" hahaha

A friend of ours had a work party in a different area of the same hotel that same night. He crashed our reunion and I think we took more pictures with him than we did our old classmates.

All in all, I'm glad I went, even if it wasn't as great as I hoped it would've been...

You have a whole year to find a date and figure out what to wear, I wouldn't worry too much about it yet. Most people in your class will have much less notice so you've got a huge head start.

I went to my ten year reunion and don't remember it being all that great or all that bad. It was cool to see a lot of my friends who I hadn't seen since graduation and catch up with them. It was also interesting to see how people had changed in ten years.

If you need help with your wardrobe I'm sure OBCB can help you out with his bedazzler.

I don't think we even really had a 10 year reunion. Apparently there was a sort of half ass thing put together. I was disappointed, I like to party. Oh well, maybe we'll have a 20 year. At least we get the stagecoach reunion at the angels game. I can't wait to see how much y'all have changed!

Ha. You graduated?

NicoleErin

We got to thinking about what to do. We wanted to do something in addition to the actual sit down, glorified prom dinner. We were thinking either a cocktail hour the night before, or a casual picnic the next day so people can bring their families, etc.

But we decided to scrap the sit down dinner and still do the slide show, decor crap, and allow us girls to dress up, but minus the dinner. We'll have a bar, apps, a DJ and some tables, but not meant for just sitting around at dinner. Then we'll have the picnic the following day.

Only problem is the reunion company requires that our graduating class be at least 350, or we combine with another class. We only had 140 and we don't want to share our reunion! We may be stuck planning it ourselves.

I have a vision though of my dress! It's gonna kick ass! Just FYI! :)

I don't know how many we had in our graduating class. Aww, memories, I haven't seen anyone from my graduating class in several years and haven't seen most of the people in the 12 years since I graduated. I guess I wasn't as popular as I thought I was or more people would try to contact me.

While at the Hank Williams show tonight we found out about a show that Nicole should check out - http://www.musclesinourtoes.com/

It's at the same theater so I wouldn't be surprised if they did Goldstar for this show too. Maybe we can get another group outing for it.

I acted like a complete jackass today out of drunkenness between sumo wrestling and drinking before the football game, if there are no muscular toed people you want to take, I could totally have a repeat performance at your reunion nicole if you're interested. If there are people that you didn't like in high school, I will definitely let them know how much you hate them.

haha, you guys are funny!

Yeah, that company that said we'd have to share our reunion with another class, actually said FOUR other classes in order to meet their quota! We're contacting other companies...screw them!

I'm already envisioning my dress. It's awesome!
