San Diego Over The Line Tournament

What is OTL? It's simulated softball with three people per team.

What is the OTL tournament? A fundraiser with hundreds of OTL teams. They are mostly drunk as are the 52,000 thousands of people expected to come watch. It's a huge party.

Why is the tournament so famous?
It is semi-notorious for its rowdy reputation reflecting the anything goes beach culture: beer, babes, and the beach. The two-weekend tournament attracts sun worshippers, and combined with lots of libations, inhibitions tend to fall, so to speak. On top of that are the infamous team names that populate the competition.

To give you an idea, here are some team names from years past, the tournament is famous for the team names:

We wouldn't play so much golf if our women had 18 holes"

The tournament is July 11 & 12. Three people to a team, $75 per team. Unfortunately there are no co-ed teams.

As for the dog. I'll prepare her. She's a little skittish around dogs. She used to be downright terrified but she's gotten better. When she was two the next door neighbors for my boyfriend at the time had a boxer puppy. He wasn't all that big, unless you're two. It was a cul-de-sac and we parked the truck on the street at the edge of the driveway to unload it and the dog came running down the driveway barking and excited. He was just a friendly little thing but he was bigger than Little Bit, barking, and running right at her. She FREAKED. I don't blame her.

If that's Duke in your picture then she should be fine. Those dogs are friendly as all get out. Easy going. She's gotten to the point that she just needs a few minutes to check the dog out and she settles down. I've never pushed her on this, that would be the worst thing I could do to her. I let her lead on what she's comfortable with.

duke is prolly bigger than she is but he won't bite, if alot of people are over he prolly won't even pay her any attention, but i'll keep an eye on the two of them just in case she freaks out and gets duke excited

Yeah, LACB and I were talking about heading down on Friday. That's probably best for those who can swing it.

As for parking, we're going to want to set up camp on the beach with a pop up tent or two, coolers, etc. so it will be good if at last a few of us have close parking to lug our stuff to and fro.

Hey! I KNOW what I'm doing! I'm actually a good blackjack player, and I also hate when people don't know how to play and are sitting on the end and screw it up. Like I said, I've played for 8 hours off of $40, and normally win a decent amount. I don't always just bet the minimum either. You're right about playing alone. I've lost everytime it's just me and the dealer. I like playing with other people I can have a good time with and talk to. I make friends at most tables I'm at.

I disagree. When I played a lot of blackjack I would look for an empty table. That was the best. Me and the dealer and nobody to mess things up. If your keen to count cards, or just keep loose track of high cards, it's nice to be the only one at the table.

However, my big gambling days are gone. These days I looooove Pai Gow Poker. I can sit at a table with $60 and play for hours and hours, getting lots of free drinks all the while. If you want a game where you can really make your money stretch you should get into Pai Gow Poker (different from Pai Gow which is played with dominoes).

I can't gamble in Vegas! I go to Laughlin for gambling, and Vegas for partying. I used to play at the Westward Ho! (Where we goin', WESTWARD HO! Sorry, old Mack 10 song) next to Circus Circus, but they closed down years ago. I don't like that the minimum's are $10 at most places on the weekends. Laughlin is great for gambling, and there are a couple ok bars out there too. Plus I get free rooms year round, so that helps!

How do you go to Vegas and NOT gamble?

When you spend all of your nights at clubs/bars and your days by the pool and no matter where u are there is always a drink in your hand :0) Trust me its a great way to spend your time in Vegas . . . so many pools so little time!

My week consisted of gambling a little during the day, then hitting the gym, then pool, then a little more gambling, then dinner, then some more gambling, then go to the karaoke bar and sing a couple of songs, then hit the bars until like 4 or 5 am, then go back to gambling, then get 2 or 3 hours of sleep and start over again.

Quick story from Tuesday night though. After we were done with the bars, we wanted to gamble, but I was out of cash and hit the ATM. My daily withdrawal limit is $500, so I went to withdraw $500 and got declined, so I walked around to two other ATM's and got declined there as well. Finally I figured there was something wrong and decided to find the closest B of A because maybe I could get money out of there since it was a B of A account. I was given bad directions and ended up on a 6 hour drunken walk throughout Vegas that resulted in no money, but at least I got to feel up some nasty stripper at a gas station.

The next morning, I talked to the bank and found out I was declined because with the ATM transaction fee, it made it over $500 and then they put a fraud alert on my card and froze it. So 6 hours of walking gave me a little boob in a gas station parking lot and an hour on the phone the next day trying to get more cash out to give directly to the casinos. Good times.

Ok, so I thought I'd bump this thread up since it's our next little get together. I know for our SC Men's team we have Mr. Psycho, LACB, and a ringer (some of you met him on Friday, it's Scott's friend Brian I believe). For the SC women's team there is myself, Deegee, and I believe LACB is getting us a ringer (she's an olympic softball player or something like that).

Is everyone staying down there that weekend? I think we are, not 100%.

I'm supposed to be heading down there! The only thing that MIGHT prevent me from going is my dad's retirement dinner. It's at some "surprise" location and he had to submit several date choices for it to his supervisor. I told him I had plans for that night that I'd like to keep, but COULD go to the dinner if it had to be that night.

If everything goes well and the dinner is another night - I'll be crashing with Noel that night - I am not sure if she's able to join for the tourney or not quite yet, but will know more closer to then!
