Yup, they're called souffle cups I think.
I'm with you Mommie....we should have raided Kymery's fridge.
Rookie question. Those shooters in the picture seem to be filled up to the top. Some of the ones I tried that weekend the cup was less than 1/2 full. Reason???

Although you asked the ladies, I will share because I'm such a great guy.
Make some jello, put a bunch of liquor in it, pour it in the little cups to set in the fridge. Voila!

From Mittenslay:
RECIPE:
Basically I just follow the recipe on the side of the box but I substitute liquor for ½ of the cold water. The easiest way is to mix it in a pitcher so it’s easy to pour into the salsa cups. Put the jello in a pitcher then add the boiling water (2 cups for large pkg, 1 cup for small), stir until it’s dissolved, making sure to scrape the bottom of the pitcher. Add cold water (1 c for lg, ½ c for sm) and liquor (1 c for lg, ½ c for sm ). Stir briefly to combine. Pour jello mix into salsa cups. You should get about 25 for a large batch. Layering the jello cups obviously saves room in the fridge but if you are going to layer just make sure that the lower layers are ventilated or there will be condensation trapped in the cups and they won’t set as well. I start with a metal pan or cookie sheet then I put a cooling rack on top of the first layer and stack up a second layer. I usually chill the jello overnight. Just make sure the jello is set BEFORE putting the lids on the salsa cups or again, there will be condensation inside the cups.

We put together a big jello wrestling party a couple of months ago and we had to buy "jello wrestling jello". That stuff was really easy to make, we just poured hot water in with the powder and it turned into jello almost instantly. I don't think that stuff's edible though.

They're under my "tagged photos". I think they're on like page 8 or page 9.
Before you ladies get disappointed, just know that we only had the ladies wrestling. We felt it would be better for everyone if the guys didn't get in the ring.

Check Albert's. Other than that, I'm clueless when it comes to RV's.

Alberts RV rentals??
I rented from them for SC....so did heavenlymoon, and several others. We had a great experience. Call them, you'll probably talked to Bert.. I bugged him plenty before SC. Tell him Nancy sent you...he'll remember me from the SC rental. Very nice guy. Not sure about other local rentals, other than El Monte RV and Cruise America. I found the prices a bit higher on the latter two, but they have local offices for rentals ( a Corona location, too)
hope this helps!! if you have any questions, PM me.

T & F, You girls simply rock! Thanks for the information. Will give em a call. Sounds like the Sc'ers had a good experience with them.
some more "rookie" questions for you.
Do you use top shelf liquor i.e. Bacaradi, Jose Quervo or the less inexpensive rum & tequilas?
unclefeiny
05-08-2009, 05:21 PM
inexpensive, it would just be a waste to use good stuff since the point of it is the jello disguises the taste
Cooter

good stuff can ward off nasty jello shot hangovers, though. try a night of top shelf jello shots and then compare it to a night of charcoal filtered generic vodka shots.

I agree, that is the sole reason I don't do jello shooter, due to the cheap vodka usually used. Now...if someone makes it with some Kettle One or the like, let me know, I will shoot em down!

DON'T BELIEVE THE VODKA HYPE!!!!!
It is all the same. By US law vodka is a tasteless, odorless spirit.
I saw a news segment where they pulled vodka snobs out of clubs and bars. These were all vodka zealots who paid shitloads more for their premium vodka of chioce. They asked these folks how confident they were that they could pick their favorite vodka out in a blind taste test.
Their ability to identify their favorite vodka was no better than random, no matter how strong they felt their preference was or how sure they were that they could identify their vodka. And in the test the only vodka that was selected with a higher frequency than the others was Smirnoff. I believe this was on 20/20 or 60 Minutes.
Some people will never be convinced of this and will continue to spend ridiculous amounts of money on "top shelf" vodka that comes in a fancy bottle with a trendy name but you are not getting a superior product.
Believe it or not. Your choice, your money...

taste can be the same, even if quality is different.

US...NOT true!
What is funny is they did this on Mythbusters, and they could definately tell between the Vodkas! Smooth from downright rude ones.
I for one am living proof they have different effects, taste, and hangovers!! Just as certain beers do for me. I get a horrible one if BUD of any type, MDG, I wake up ready and raring to go.
We are not SNOBS, but we will NOT drink anything other than a top shelf vodka, not worth it in the long run. Stolies...ewwww, don't tell me you can't tell between that and a Grey Goose martini!! One tastes like metal, and one is nice and smooth and the actual taste of the Martini ordered, flavored OR Dirty, or clean!
This is the same for Tequilas. Patron, feel nice and good, Cuervo, UGHHHH...ask my roomies from SC this year! NO MORE CUERVO for me! I knew we should of brought Patron!

This is sooo true. I love it when I go to bars, and I know the bartenders pretty well...I buy a round of "virgin shots" without my suspects knowing...they all shoot em down, and swear they are getting hammered by the 5th one.!! :D:D:D
So, things CAN taste the same, but yes, the effect ARE different!

I agree that everything varies EXCEPT for vodka. Vodka is vodka is vodka.
When I buy vodka I'll never buy anything but the cheapest vodka on the shelf. Ever.
I won't be suckered by the marketing or the pretty bottles.

Hilarious, back in college we would buy a keg of non-alcoholic beer for our pledges every semester and watch them "get plastered". Good times.

Bottles have nothing to do with it. Svedka is a decent vodka, in one of the most boring bottles! Same for Sky, nice and blue, but nothing fancy. Grey Goose has a great bottle!
Guess your brain is more adept to the lesser of the Vodkas...all good!:D
Have you compared to a vodka made from potatoes? or various others? There IS a huge difference in all vodkas.

There is no question that works.
I was a psychology major in undergrad and there are a few studies where half the people get alcohol and the other half gets something that they think is alcohol but is actually non-alcoholic. By the end of the night everyone is acting equally drunk.
I'm with Cooter & Kymery....I drink the name brands to stay away from the headache the next day.
I tried my very first batch of Jello Shooters this weekend. Used Orange Jello with Peach Schnapps & Bacaradi Rum. They were good BUT I used too much Peach Schnapps and need to figure out the right amount for taste. Any suggestions?
P.S. now I know the reasoning on not filling up the cups all the way to the top. Makes it impossible to move the tray from the counter to the fridge without spilling some.

I have to agree there. I always thought it was silly when my sister said she could tell the difference between Grey Goose and the cheap stuff. I can totally tell now though. Plus the hangover is different. I still order the cheap stuff while out though. Coors Light ALWAYS gives me a bad headache. bud is fine, but I like Amstel Light. I definitely thing good alcohol makes all the difference in a hangover.
