Happy Mommy's Day to all the Mommys out there! :)
I'm going to be spending my Mother's Day at Disneyland competing in a scavenger hunt thing called Mouse Adventure...figured it was OK to participate even though it was on Mother's Day - because my mom will be there doing it too! She's going to be my competition, but will still be fun! haha

Thanks and Happy Mother's Day to all of you!
I posted this on FB but I'll throw it on here too. Last night I had to give Little Bit the credit card to pay $126.00 for my Mother's Day gift to be delivered on Sunday. We went so far as to have her go to my email (that's the one she used in the order) and put the confirmation message in archives so I don't have a clue what she's done.
She says I'll love it and when I said something about the price and her not having to spend that much on me she said she already got rid of all the other stuff that made it $300 and she can't get rid of any more. Too cute. Get's ya right there when they pull a thoughtful and cute like this!:D
You don't have to say it. I know how lucky I am.

How cute tg! She's so sweet.
Tyler (mind you he's 3, so I can't give him a credit card) was telling me it's MOther's Day on Sunday and asked what it was. I told him it was kind of like a birthday but to celebrate MOmmy's and that we get presents and stuff. He said, "But who's gonna take me to the store to get you a present?" He so melts my heart! I told him "You're going to your Dad's this weekend, tell him to take you!" LMBO, not holding my breath, but the thought was cute.

I miss those days! My favorite was the kindergarten year. The teacher bought these inexpensive little frames at the dollar store. They are like an undecorated sturdy, smooth cardboard. Know what I mean? Anyway the kiddos decorated them by gluing on buttons and such and the teacher put a snap shot in each child's that she had taken of them during class sometime during the year that we parents hadn't seen yet. I love it!

He just gave you the best of presents didn't he? Nothing they can make or buy comes anywhere close to comparing to the feeling they give you when they make those comments. Makes you forget the worry, work, etc. doesn't it?

Absolutely! HOnestly, if I could bottle up every cute thing he says, I would be the happiest person on earth. I swear, some of the stuff he comes up with is GREAT. He tells me everyday "You're my best friend Mommy". And "Do you know how much I love you Mommy? I love you THIRTY!" Sometimes it's sixty, or another number he'll come up with. It's just too sweet.

Being a single Mom (I have 99.9999999% custody), I solved the "how the preschooler can buy a present" dilemma in the early years by having a girlfriend take my boy shopping with a set dollar amount...or buying two or three inexpensive things myself, putting them in a bag in his room and letting him "choose" which present to give me (I told him that my co-worker "Auntie Peggy" did the shopping for him so he'd think I'd be surprised!). He loved it!
When he got older (6-8), we would stroll the aisles at Target and I would point out things I liked, then give him money and have him pick something and pay for it himself, while I pretended to not be watching him like a Mother Hawk.
Now he can find things pretty much on his own at the store (or Stagecoach - he bought me a really cute silver choker with his SC spending money!)....
Kids are the BEST!!!

wow Miss B you are quite the daughter to pull all of that off. Your Mom will enjoy her weekend!
I love the kid stories from TG, WCL and Chev.
Mine is 15 years old but is the creative and artistic type. Last year she drew a picture for me of a mother wolf (go figure) and its daughter wolf. The daughter says "you are the best mother a girl could ask for. thank you for always being there for me."
I put it on the fridge, and it's still there. I don't know how she is going to top that this year.

yeah word from other moms is the boys stay pretty sweet and steady with their Moms as they become teenagers but unfortunately the estrogen kicks in for the girls and TG is absolutely correct, you can pretty much kiss that sweet wonderful girl goodbye. That's one of the reasons why that drawing meant so much to me. You just don't get that from your daughter after puberty.

Get a gal pal at your own peril. She may hold all your crap but she'll end up costing you a lot of money, nag you to death, whine, complain, monopolize your time...
If you just need something to hold your stuff I say find shorts with pockets, it'll save your sanity.

So how was everyone's Mother's Day? Mine turned out ok, although my ex forgot the card from my son, same as last year. I went out to dinner with my mom, sis, kiddo, and SoCalUCRGirl. My son had a couple meltdowns during dinner, my mom couldn't decide on a chair, and my sister was...well...my sister. LOL, I'm sure SCUCRG won't be joining us again anytime soon! She did suggest getting concert tickets for my mom for Mother's Day and so I got us a pair of tix to see Alan JAckson in August by my house.
My mom was pretty happy about that. Although I forgot my sister's due with her first baby the day before the concert. First ones always late though, right? Fingers crossed! My day ended well though, with my kiddo just wanting to snuggle with me for awhile before bed. Now I'm down 3 glasses of wine and about ready to hit the sack. Hope you all had a WONDERFUL day. Mine was okay, but only because i had my little one with me =] and he woke up smiling of course. He and daddy got me a card and flowers...and a victoria secret giftcard=] so i was a happy camper. THEN.. it was we have to go here there and freakin everywhere! Seriously Im learning to dislike holidays more and more for this very reason. WHY cant people understand Im not trying to leave them out or be a mean..I just cant be 5 places at once. I cant. Between my boyfriend "HAVING to go soo his family for 4 hours(2 sides) and ...MY mother giving me a time deadline...It was a mess. Im just thankfull to have had my little one...and spend each minute with him and his gleaming little vampire teeth that are coming in. lol. Other than that...It was quite relaxing between all the chaos. I decided next year...we're taking the trailor to the beach. So i can actually enjoy it and there are no more excuses. Yes but EVERYYYYYY holiday...wears me out, especially with a little one. I have to back like triple everything for him...and he gets tired of running around too. Yeah I was pooped. At least holidays are somewhat spread out right??

Ha! Yet another reason I am so happy I'm single now! I don't have to spend any more holidays driving 2 hours to my exes family's house and dealing with them. Because I AM a mom now, and it's MY holiday too, I try not to worry about pleasing everyone else. I wanted to go to dinner with my mom, but other than that, it's MY day. If I want to sit and do nothing, you'd better believe that's what I'm doing!

I spent the day at the San Diego Zoo with my boy - I posted for free/cheap tix on craigslist and got a reply from a very nice older lady that has "Gold Circle" lifetime membership. She met us there, got us thru the gate and we had a blast! I posted some pix last night on Facebook.
Oh, she did tell me that she got the Gold Circle passes from contributing $600,000 from her late husband's estate....she said she has NO PROBLEMS getting people in for FREE after that ;)
We had a blast....it wasn't nearly as crowded as I expected it to be....
Little Bit did great - and I'm glad everyone had a good day!!!

Little Bit got me an Edible Arrangement with a card that made me mushy! Yummy. And then she and Grandpa (my dad) took me to Red Lobster for lunch. I did have to do laundry, but she finished the dinner dishes for me and I got to play my video game undisturbed for hours. Loved it!

mine is not even a far drive. I just am suppose to be in 5 places at once, or its MY fault lol. And its drama too, so I never look foward to it. I am a mom now too, and As a matter it was my first yet...and it still was not what i wanted to do. Sitting at home and having my OWN bbq would have been just fine with me=] but no...=[ I need to start standing my grounds apparently.

Next year let all concerned know in the beginning of April that they're welcome to join you at your place for a BBQ on Mother's Day. That way you beat them all to the punch.

Wow Little Bit does know how to do things. TG you must be a great Mom cuz great kids don't just happen without them.
I make it a point to call all my friends whom have lost all the women in their life. It really helps to "remember" and not be all sad...especially to the ones whom this is the first year without a mom, although it never gets easier.

at lunch with my family yesterday I told the story of the little boy who says how much he loves his mom by saying a number, and they all gushed and thought it was the cutest thing they had ever heard. I asked my 5-year old niece what was the biggest number she knew. She said a hundred!!! She kept telling my sister that she loves her a hundred!!!

Thank you. That's sweet. She's always had good taste. I have several pieces of jewelry she picked out herself. She can get mouthy and moody, but she's at that age. She is a little treasure. Very lucky I am.

Awww, yeah, he's funny like that. The other day he said he loved me 20. Then he asked how much I loved him and I said 100. He said "I love you that much too".
