Mark Smith is one of the greatest human beings on the face of the planet.

He is always the first person to step up, for anybody.

He is a loving, kind, generous and devoted son and son in law, father, husband, brother and brother in law, friend, mentor, teacher, counselor.... I could go on and on and never being able to express all he's done for me, or how much he means to me, and there are a lot of us in that club. Everyone who knows him, loves him.

Mark has Prostate Cancer and it has progressed to the point where the doctors aren't offering much hope so we are going to raise money to send him abroad for treatment.

Please go to savemarksmith.com to see that the world is a better place because Mark Smith is in it.

Thank you,

Oil Spill Bill

Is the car wash just for foreign cars?

There's a time and place for jokes and sarcasm. A thread about a man who has been diagnosed with cancer, in my opinion, is not one of them.

There is never enough~!!! Not when it comes to someones life! If it was someone close to you, I would HOPE you would do all you could to help! If I had known my mom was suffering again from her cancer before she took her life, I would of posted it everywhere to help!

Hey spongebob you don't have to read my postings if they offend you.

I don't care how many times I see this, or read it. Here, FB, Myspace, whatever. I'm not offended. Every time I read about this it makes me cross my fingers that much tighter. Some things truly matter. A man's life is at the top of that list.

Hello,
Just to clarify, since Bill and Mark are near and dear to my heart...Mark A. Smith would NEVER ask for money for himself...really the whole thing embaresses him a lot...the whole "my only chance for a little longer life is beyond me thing..." bugs him a lot. We love Bill for being such an advocate...Mark, well, he is just an amazing guy, who has A LOT of people who care about him, and are trying to raise money to send him to Korea to give him more than 18 months to live. Me, as a teen in the '80's, had no real family or life and Mark mentored me and pretty much gave me a chance to realize my own potential. I am now a mom, a teacher and a happy wife. Oil Spill Bill understands this, as Mark has helped him move ahead in life too. So, with all due respect, Mr. SpongeBob...I hope someday you realize what it feels like to have people who want to step up and help you out just because you are that much of an amazing person. And if Bill offends you, well, it won't be the first time, so he'll get over it. SAVEMARKSMITH.com is about people who WANT TO HELP. However, thanks for the reality check that there are still plenty of bitter, suspicious people out there that are only concerned that "someone" is trying to juke them out of the all mighty dollar...For Mark, we just enjoy the heck out of the guy and 18 months just ain't long enough for me...
Please understand that, Spongebob...

He who wishes to secure the good of others has already secured his own.
-- Confucius...Billy, see, there is hope for you!
What would you attempt if you knew you could not fail?
-- Dr. Robert Schuller...we just want to help Mark...
If not you, then who?
If not now, then when?
-- Hillel...after Mark is gone, it would be too late...

PLEASE PEOPLE, we beg of you! VISIT SAVEMARKSMITH.COM (http://www.SAVEMARKSMITH.COM/) & send all the money you can. He needs to live, and only YOU can help. American doctors suck, so I BEG of you, please send money!

Wow. I can't believe that somebody would take this sort of negative approach when there is a cry for help being sent. I have met oilspillbill, and he is a genuine person. It seriously baffles me how you can take this and turn it into something negative. I really hope you never have to deal with anything this serious. If YOU see this as any kind of money scheming ploy, then STOP READING IT. Hit ignore if it bothers you. I for one am praying for Mark and his family. If it were my family member, I would be doing everything heavenly possible including going to Korea, Iran, Guam, or wherever need be to help prolong their life.

I am really distrubed by your post GPS. I hope that you can just ignore anything rubbing you the wrong way rather than resort to this childish behavior. My 3 year old has more sensitivity than that.

Actually lovey, they don't suck at all, they cured me me quite fine of cancer 5 years ago, but we have a lot more regulations on research...so some new protocols aren't available here yet pending FDA approval, that some little people on the planet can't wait for. As our rebellious little American history and bloodlines demand, we have to stand up and fight for what we need and what is right. I love you, my little Spongey, for the link!!

I don't want you to think that everyone here can be so closed minded.
There are some awesome people that I have met here on this message board and in person.

On the subject of the aformentioned boat for sale:
It is a great fmaily boat. It is perfect for dragging the kids around the lake and will run all weekend on a tank of gas.

Spongebob is entitled to his opinion, if it wasn't for him, I wouldn't have gotta fired up enough to join your group. I'll be open minded enough to listen to him, his concerns may be of the global sort...it is harder when it is personal. My good GaySpongebobbeyBob...I will lobby the capital in a Spongebob suit, ummm, with a spongebob sign, for congress to fast track cancer protocols through the fda, or something if I can save my bestest friend in the world Mark Smith!! savemarksmith.com only if you can, and want to... that is the spirit we are putting out there. Cancer sucks. Had it, beat it...and I think I am a better person because of it...

Wow does this hit close to home... Since a few weeks before Stagecoach and up until now life really hasn't been "easy".... My grandma is in her FOURTH battle with cancer... which is now in her neck and stomach (stomach cancer is very painful), and she's near the end.... The pain, and suffering that one endures during the battle is horrific. The sights I have witnessed, and have had to assist with these past few weeks have been gut wrenching.. decisions I have had to assist her with, etc. the whole time you're thinking "did I do the right thing?"....

I lost a dear friend to cancer a month ago and he resembles much of Mark's qualities -- a mentor, dear friend, a leader.... My heartaches as I feel I still had so much to learn, and he had so much life to give...

Somebody who gives selfless acts of kindness is a wonderful person in my book. For those near and dear to Mark, keep positive, and keep him positive!

Hey everyone. Just wanted to share my experience with you all from this past weekend. I attended the Relay for Life of my city. My boyfriends, dads finance[i know hard to get] was chairperson of the committee. She lost her brother in 1992 due to Cancer as well. She began doing this relay last year and raised 48,000 dollars! This year was an amazing turnout and to have my little one there, as well and supporting felt amazing. There were a ton of survivors out there, and also ones who had lost someone very near and dear to them. People of the city were out there supporting and everyone came together so great! I had never experienced the "luminaria" experience. This was by far one of the most touching moments Ive ever experienced. It felt so great to be apart of, and only makes you wonder what else out there can you be doing to find a cure for this terrible monster. I loved every single part of the relay and encourage each and every one of you, if you havent attended one...to do so. Its a real big eye opener and really heart touching. Although he does not yet understand, my son was also one to light up a lumiaria bag for his great grampa=]
For everyone who has lost, or is going through the battle...my thoughts and prayers go out to you all!

Here's my story, in 2000 my friend Chad Brendlinger lost his battle with Leukemia at the young age of 20... He thought he had it beat a year or so before when it went into remission, but it came back and was too much for him. It was one of the hardest things we ever went through. He spent a lot of time at the City of Hope Hospital in Duarte and because they took such good care of him, and wanting to keep his memory alive I put together a car wash off Imperial Highway at the Arco Station and we raised $3500 that all went to the City of Hope. Keep it up Oil Spill Bill, that's awesome, It is amazing what little things like that do to help others! You're a great person for it!

We are not completely to our goal of $50,000. Although we have enough to start Mark's treatment, there are still things that we need covered. Any and all donations are still needed and greatly appreciated. Also we have some cool things up for sale, Sandcar, Cuddy Cabin style boat, ultralight plane, T-Bird....
Please go to savemarksmith.com for more info.
