View Full Version : VEGAS TRIP MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND

So is anyone interested in going to Vegas for Memorial Day weekend? They have some cheap rooms right now at the Sahara (for 2 people, 3 nights the total would be about $60 a person total). I was thinking of doing Saturday morning to Tuesday morning so we don't get stuck in traffic coming home Monday. I have some friends already going out, just wanted to see if any of you crazy bunch want to try to make a trip out of it.

I'm going for a weekday trip sometime in May, got three nights comped at either MGM or Monte Carlo and it's so much easier during the week. I'm going camping Memorial Day weekend.

I can't do Memorial Day because it's too close to CMA Fest.
I could be down for 4th of July if anyone is interested in planning a later trip. And I'm pretty sure you can get even better deals than that these days. Not sure about holiday weekends but I've seen deals ~$100/night at just about every hotel on the strip.

The $60 bucks is the TOTAL price per person for sharing a room. That's $40 a night per room.

ok.. I just heard this thread got hijacked to the CMA Fan Fest....that would be awesome to plan for 2010. I would love to go this year.. but lots to plan in a short time, though. For 2010 start saving now....!! USCPsycho and HTA get the scoop while you're there next month. you may need to be part of the planning and the resources.
love the line up this year...

I freaked too when I saw tix on sale so early but they don't sell fast at all! You panic cuz the super duper good seats all say "sold out" but really those are all bought up by those travel agencies and such and sold as package deals so you most likey wouldn't be able to get them anyways.
Not to mention you have NO IDEA of the lineup until MARCH!!!
I bought my tix so long ago that I don't even remember.....like August or something insane like that...and those still haven't sold out last time I checked.
And one bummer is you buy so far in advance that if plans change its basically IMPOSSIBLE to sell your ticket since they don't give you your tix until May....I am in that predicament right now. My friend got a ticket but now she can't go....I can't sell it if I don't have it so most likely she will be out the 160 or so bucks.
I understand they do that so scalpers/brokers can't buy them all up and sell them for hugely inflated prices. So it keeps it affordable for the rest of us! :D But if you have a ticket to get rid of you are SOL....
honkytonkangel
05-01-2009, 01:33 PM
And for those of you that were bitching about how expensive Stagecoach was...you have no idea....lets just say the festival ticket is the LEAST expensive part of this whole trip. With airfare, hotel, and car I am so far in the hole I can't see daylight! LOL!! But I have heard its TOTALLY WORTH IT! It just hurts upfront but after the trip you would have paid double for the experience! I will let you know if I feel the same way when I get home!! Hahaha!!

True, but I'm a seat snob and want the best possible! Roy (USCPsycho) is going and has Gold Circle. Those are like season seats, that you get to renew each year if you'd like. Apparently you can only get those IN Nashville, not online or anything?
My friend went last year and went through johnny walker tours. Price included hotel and tickets (choices of hotels), then they handled airfare on their own.
And one bummer is you buy so far in advance that if plans change its basically IMPOSSIBLE to sell your ticket since they don't give you your tix until May....I am in that predicament right now. Yeah, my friend who went last year is now pregnant and about to pop literally any hour now, and she bought tix, etc this time last year! No idea how she's handling how to get rid of them, etc because she bought with a friend.
Soooo, people, check out johnnywalkertours.com too for research. Roy also said it's worth it to stay semi-near or in downtown to avoid renting a car. Apprently it's worth the $5-$10 cab ride home to not have to handle driving (hence needing a DD), parking, etc.

Oh yeah...for those who have never been to Nashville and plan on going another time NOT for CMA Fest, check out Nash Trash Tours. HILARIOUS! I don't think they run during CMA Fest is why I say that...unless you extend your stay a day or two. Totally funny and would do it again.

love the line up this year...
The first year I went to CMA Fest I started planning around this time. Bought my tickets on eBay, booked a less than ideally located hotel (rental car needed) and had the freakin' time of my life!!!!
If you can swing it, swing it! You will not be sorry or regret it. Once you get hooked on CMA Fest, Stagecoach will be nothing but a warm up for the real show six weeks later.
I've already gone a couple of times so if anyone has questions ask away. And for those who are going I *HIGHLY* recommend camping out the second night to get Gold Circle tickets. Considering how much money you spend on the trip it's totally worth it to spend a couple extra hundred bucks and get Gold Circle. But I think the only way to get them is to camp out in line. You only have to do it once and then you're set, I did it the first time I went and have no regrets.
Roy, don't be a jerkface, check your PMs!
Was out of town for a few days and about to head out for a meeting. I'll get to PMs later tonight. And I know my box is full :(
YEP!!! Can't WAIT!!!! :D
We have to plan to meet up there! Do you know where your seats are?
Let's go together next year!
Yes, as many people from SCMB as possible should plan to go next year, even this year if people can swing it. I've met people from all over the world who come to CMA Fest. And if you've seen the CMA Fest special they air on ABC it is absolute crap compared to the real thing!
And for those of you that were bitching about how expensive Stagecoach was...you have no idea....lets just say the festival ticket is the LEAST expensive part of this whole trip. Worth every last stinking bloody penny. And you haven't included your food and drinks yet. The bar scene on Broadway is a BLAST during the festival.
Oh man, I'm getting really excited just talking about it right now!!!
Can somebody 'splain this CMA Fest, since looks like nobody else is gonna join me in Vegas ;)

I think this year's lineup is weaker than in previous years. But even so it's going to be awesome! Plus there's always seems to be one huge surprise guest performer.
is that the doubletree or the hilton or the sheraton..they were the hotels that are in a package deal, and i wonder if ala carte is a better plan for this type of event
I'm not familiar with the packages but I'm pretty sure that ala carte is a better deal. However, the closest and best hotels are totally sold out so the only way to get in may be with some kind of package.
honkytonkangel
05-04-2009, 02:37 PM
Yeah, I agree, the line up is a bit weaker than what I have read for previous years but it is still pretty damn good! I cannot wait! We are at Courtyard Marriot by the airport, says its about 12 min from downtown so we are renting a car....couldnt find ANYTHING downtown that was even remotely affordable...oh well...I couldn't give two shits cuz we are gonna have a BLAST!! :D
And we will be here:
section 119, row CC, seats 19-21
These were the best I could get in AUGUST!!!

05-04-2009, 02:41 PM
The package deals actually weren't too bad. Especially since the HASSLE was removed. I wish I had known about them before I bought our tix. It might have been the way to go for the first time so you know what to do/where to stay for the second trip! Haha!
