Off road racing. I rushed home Sunday only to fly up to Sacramento Mon and return home late Tuesday as I met with our legislature on pending and upcoming OHV issues.

have you been busy at all with the Johnson Valley area proposed closures?
there is sure a lot of turmoil in the local off road community.

Most certainly. I am an avid member of AMA District 37, CLORV, associate with the folks at ORBA, I have attended several meetings with FOJV (Friends of Johnson Valley), I've attended the local meetings with the USMC in attendance, etc.

We have something really great in the works and are faxing/emailing letters to our guys in the legislature sector for their signature. We are FEVERISHLY working on the current issues and also at the same time we realize it is a very uphill battle, and are coming up with alternatives. All of which whom I met with were very receptive to us.

Most importantly we have the pending SB435 which would REMOVE aftermarket dual sport bikes .. the short version, all motorcycles would have to be smog checked backdated from 2000 forward, many dual sport bikes would not pass such test. This is expected to go in effect sometime in 2012... it will be up on the floor possibly next Monday .. We are asking for an amendment to the proposed bill to exclude 700cc and under bikes.

Here's an excerpt from an offroad messageboard:

Lobby Days were a huge success in my opinion this year. All of my guys (Riverside area guys) are pro offroad and their attitude was "how can I help you?", "what can I do on my end to help you?".... In fact, one of my statements was so bold and so direct that I was instructed to write it up so that it could be read on the FLOOR for when SB435 comes up for vote! I was pretty stoked on that, they are going to read it VERBATIM on the floor! Wooo hooooo!! Brian Nestande, Assemblyman for the 64th District was a crack up and our meeting ended with a hug! I will be following up with these guys and continue to keep an ongoing relationship with them so that when the time comes they are well aware of who I am, and what it is my interests are. As I can't stress this saying enough, "please support those that support us"! Looks like I am already signed up for next years lobby days as well!~ HUGE THANK YOU TO AMA DISTRICT 37 AND THE VIEWFINDERS MC FOR PICKING UP THE FINANCIAL END OF THIS TRIP!
