Jim Lauderdale:D
The Knitters:cool:
Horton Heat:cool:
Infamous Stringdusters:)
Dale Watson:D
By Dale's set on Sunday night there were fewer folks around than are at an IE bar on a Saturday night. Sad... country music is being kept alive by these talented, passionate artist and we sit on the lawn, miles from a stage and shout "Southern" / "Rock"... with Kid Rock. It is a shame.
"Now don't get me wrong, to each his own I believe.
But they've took the soul out of what means a whole lot to me.
'Cause I can see Hank and Lefty, they're spinning around in their graves.
And if they were here now, I think y'all know what they'd say.
... That's country my ass"

I'll give firm agreement to several of those names - and couldn't agree more with the quote.

I did get great joy during Dale's set when I saw my 16 year old walk out behind the tent and teach a girl his age a few steps, then bring her back in to try it out... now that's country. AND... you gotta love the honesty of a young woman who upon dancing a two step with me said, "you're pretty good... you should ask my mom to dance"... and I did... and she truly challenged my moves! Yeahaw!
Now that ended a fun weekend with some great smiles.

He was a late addition to the lineup and led off the first day on the main stage so a lot of people may not have been in yet, but I thought Sean Patrick McGraw was really good. I wasn't familiar with his music yet, but I certainly added it to my iTunes when I got home.
And as for the best, I think we can all agree Kid Rock put on one hell of a show. I actually felt bad for KC having to follow that performance.

In a way he did; he played rythm guitar with Dale Watson during his set. Awesome stuff on Sunday at the Palomino.

I like Kid Rock at a Rock concert not at a Country concert.
Would be like going to see Kid Rock and having Reba perform.
How do you think that would go over???
2 Totally different music.
