Ok big kenny fan here....
I was so taken back.
First you have a guy who is always about his fans....
Yet no photos from the pit till the second set????Why???
Then he was very puffy in the face from last time I saw him.
He was sweating already by the second song and his sound from the front was awful....
Yet if you started to leave early like most were doing...He had a far away good sound.Like blocks away....
Was he sick?????:o:(
Maybe he was in mexico and has the swine flu?????:eek::eek:

i think it was less about him and more about the technicians. The sound was screwed up the whole weekend. It kept going in and out and was muffled, then clear, then muffled again. And the video was HORRIBLY sync'd. It was like 1/2 second off for those of us in the back. Really distracting. Think they need to hire some better techs for next year.

I sat for almost all of Kenny's set.. just couldn't get into him. That was my first and last Kenny Concert.
I'm gonna go hide now. Haha

Audio sync has nothing to do with the technicians.
Light travels WAY faster than sound. So the farther back you are the more out of sync the video will appear to be. Can't blame that on anything but physics.

Kid Rock ran late - As Chesney was getting set up I watched the crew high 5 that they got it done.... what they didn't do was a sound check (like they did with almost every other Mane stage group). He was hard to hear - the band overpowered him.... And towards the end of the set- the stage hand right side kept pointing to the clock....
And he followed Kid Rock - tough tough act to follow - not fair to any performer...!!! Unless you're the Rolling Stones.....
However - this is the 2nd year (last year) where the final act was so so at best IMO....

I definitely thought Kenny was a big disappointment. At least Paisley was amazing as always!

headliners usually soundcheck the night or morning before the performance, when the venue is empty.
like this crappy cell phone pic i took at paul mccartney on the thurs. before coachella, most amazing time ever!

So the deal with the sound check......Since Kid Rock ran over they had no time. Sir Paul playing WAY past curfew made Goldenvoice buckle down. Kenny couldn't do a sound check in the morning because they were in Vegas the night before and the equipment truck didn't get in till noon.

I'm a live video producer, so I'll agree with your comment, however when you're projecting/mixing for outdoor venues, you typically balance your audio delay to 3/4 the delay of video to the furthest viewable seat. That way anything that is out of sync is only slightly out of sync. After walking back from the stage, I found that the video was balanced only to the delay of the first line array, thus 60% of the venue saw horribly delayed video. Bad (or lazy?) production quality.

Heck yes, and maybe not blocking our view with that huge yellow flag/bamboo thing. Move that thing over to the side!

Were we at the same concert? I don't get it.
I thought Kenny was great. It was even worth enduring Kid Rock.
We stayed to the bitter end, even though we paid the price by not getting home until 2:00 am. I didn't get to bed until 2:15 am. My poor kid woke me up at 3:30 am to inform me that she threw up all over her bed. I guess it wasn't such a good idea to let her eat a funnel cake for dinner. :o

Horse is right. I'm a Kenny veteran and Fan Club Member. He looked bad. He gained weight, he was puffy and red in the face, and his voice was not up to usual. But worst of all, he was "not into it" with the audience at all. He didn't do any high fives. He didn't come to the front after the show with a Sharpie and do any signing. He looked happy to get off stage as soon as he could. I love Kenny to pieces. Something was not right Sunday. It was disappointing.

Word on the KC Fan Club msg boards is that Kenny did an extra 16 songs after his 20 song set in Vegas the night before. I'm thinking Kenny may have been hungover. I love Kenny, but I don't think I'll go to Stagecoach to see him again. I'd rather see him when he's headlining his own tour.

This was my third time seeing Kenny, and by far this was the worst I have ever heard him sound. After the second song I sat down and watched him on the screens trying to figure out if he was drunk or sick because he kept pulling the mic away his mouth at the end, almost as if he couldn't finish the verses. And his band was so loud it covered up his voice most of the time. I love Kenny so I just after I figured out this was not going to be his best performance I just let it go and got into the music and sang along.

Funny....after the first Stagecoach where he wrapped up Sunday night, I was REALLY disappointed in his performance--I had never seen him before and he seemed so not into it. Last night, I actually thought he was better, but that may have been the multiple spiced rums and OJ talking:-) BTW, loved Kid Rock....thought I wouldn't, but I actually really enjoyed it.

I don't think he felt well. I was backstage when he came off and he sped to his bus. He didn't say hi to anyone. He didn't even make eye contact with anyone. He had a photo op with the Cal Fire he stopped for 10 seconds to take the photo then ran into his bus.
It was really odd. It wasn't like people were hounding him. The only people who were paying any attention to him were me, my sister in law and maybe 3 other people.
My only explanation is that he was sick or maybe just super super tired.

I agree...something was wrong with KC. I have seen him every year since 2003 and this by far is the WORST performance ever by him. I am due to see him again in Atlanta in a month or so. I hope he improves or Im going to be pissed at the amount of money I will be spending to fly home to see him in concert.

Kenny was in vegas Saturday and i of course would have gone to see him here but rather have seen him at stagecoach...my friends said he went on here in Vegas forever and it was an amazing show...i think he was probably exhausted because i am a HUGE kenny and i thought he was kind of boring....

I have never seen KC before but I was disappointed in his performance. He did look blotted....kind of like Elvis did in some of his shows (I'm dating myself). He should have saved some of himself for the thousands of people staying late on a work night just to see him (with a three hour drive after the show).

I'm used to seeing a concert and not getting to hear every song I want to, because usually I'll know more songs than the average concert goer and there's only so much time to get the big hits out there, but there were so many songs by Kenny I wanted to hear and didn't get to. I guess I should have been in Vegas the night before.

Well I have to say that I think about it a little differently... I was in the second row and I have to say that I thought he was great.. I did notice he seemed a little distant...He interacted with us allot and he seemed to come and sing more just left of center in front of us, But then I found out why.....
During the last song "Don't Blink" One of the road crew came up to us and said "Kenny asked us 4 of us to come back stage" So, My 2 oldest daughters, my best friend and I RAN!!!!!! The guy took us back by the drummer and we waited for the song to finish.... Then Kenny came walking out from stage and looked at us and said "hey girls, come on" and waived for us to follow... with the road crew guy in tow we followed Kenny to his bus. He went in and the road guy said wait here for one second... I thought I was dreaming that this was happening to me ( Kennys Biggest fan!!) After a few minutes Kennys manager opened the door to the rig and said come on in girls... We all went into the most beautiful rig I have ever seen. The manager introduced himself to us and we chit chated.. Then in the back of the rig a door slid open like star track....SHHHHHH.. And Kenny came walking out with a huges smile on his face... He looked great! He asked all of our names and gave us a hug as we shook his hand.. we talked about his music and I got to tell him about My daughter opening for Wynonna, and about our trips to the carribeans, and my daughter got to tell him that when I am old and dying her instructions are, to put Kenny in the IPOD and hold my hand until I go to meet the Lord! LOL
THIS is when he told us this, " I invited you here because I watched you girls sing every song word for word, and dancing and having a great time," "I want you to know how much I appreciated that! I could tell you were having a great time and that you loved my Music" "When I was busting my but trying to put on a show, most of the audience was just standing there looking at me.. half them were just sitting down!" "It was a tough audience"
So then we went outside the bus and took photos together.....Then he said that they had to take off now and Thanked us again.
Soooooooo, I feel like maybe he just got a little bummed when he couldn't pump the audience up... "Not" Normal for Kenny... I think allot of people were drunk and/or tired after 3 days of partying, and it was obvious Kid had the crowd ROARING... Must have been tough on Kenny who packs the most stadiums than anyone in the music industry to have happen to him. I have to say he looked deflated... I saw him in Vegas last year, front row, and I also have to agree with a previous poster that he usually has the audience against the stage and high fives, and signs autographs.. I was suprised that the pit was there, last year the stage was interactive until Sunday, One of the security told me that TIM wanted the stage moved back.
All in all I think that I understand what happened and would not give up on Kenny........ (like Tim) It was just a one time wierd thing that happend. It was actually good for my daughter to here that even Mega Super Star singers have tough nights.... and they are harder on themselves than the Fans are!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Just my take on the whole thing....

Here's the biggest problem: They (Goldenvoice) price the seats in section 1 so expensive that most real country music fans either can't or don't want to spend that kind of money. So the outcome is exactly what my group saw:
We had tickets in Section 8, during Kenny we were able to work our way up to the standing area of section 5. Then a friend of ours who worked the event saw us and took us to a standing area of Section 1. We had 8 of us and we were having an incredible time, but I was looking around and it seemed like we were the only ones. We were singing along and I noticed we were getting dirty looks from some stuffy/pompous guy and girl in front of us who were just standing there like a couple of mannequines!!!
The point is, it seems like some of the people who pay the big $$ to be in the front row are only there for bragging rights, not so much for the music. I've got a friend of mine and his wife who always pay $1000's to sit in the front row from a ticket broker and ride to the concert in a limousine, but only ever talk about how much money they spent and not how great the concert was.
I thought Kenny was good, especially when he broke out some of his really old stuff, "Ordinary no, I really don't think so........."
Just my version of what I saw and experienced!!! Can't wait till next year!!!!

One thing I noticed was that early in the set (and right after he missed a few line to Keg in the Closet), Kenny was pointing to his mic and then looking to the side of the stage as if the mic wasn't working all the time. You could tell he was pretty pissed off. A few moments later, he had a new one and the problem was solved, although his band was too loud and did drown him out.
I saw him at Staples a year ago and he was really good there, but certainly didn't bring his A game this time, although it may not have been entirely his fault...

That is so awesome TC. Kenny is an amazing performer.....I enjoyed him! But Goldenvoice REALLY needs to do something about VIP seating. I know it's a money maker for them, but what about the real fans, who want to enjoy a great show, but can't afford the ticket prices? I personally know 4 people who had p1 tix...and all of them where comp'd. They only went because they had nothing else to do that day. What a waste. To many empty VIP seats......Get rid of half of them....push them back and have standing only in front of the Mane Stage. I know it's wishful thinking, but I truly enjoyed Sean Patrick McGraw and would have loved the chance to stand front stage, if only be for his performance..... OR they should just do away with VIP all together like Coachella.

I have take offense at the use of the words "REAL FANS"..... SO, if I spend the money for my family to be in the front, We are not REAL COUNTRY FANS.... LOL Sorry, it just doesn't make sense.. so that means that we spent all that money because we are what????? RAGGAE FANS.... ???? You HAVE a point that they were expensive.. but the people who bought them are not just throwing thier money away... they thought it was worth it! My family was front row last year and second and third row this year... AND it was worth every penny. My kids have the times of their lives at Stagecoach and we are DIE HARD STAGECOACH FANS!!!!!!!! So, for me, Stagecoach is PRICELESS! I just don't think that saying, only the "REAL FANS" don't or won't pay for P-1 or other reserved seating, is unfair. All of us spend our hard earned money to go to Stagecoach. No matter if it is General Admission or Front row... Just my take on things.

QOUTE FROM LINA 224:::I enjoyed him! But Goldenvoice REALLY needs to do something about VIP seating. I know it's a money maker for them, but what about the real fans, who want to enjoy a great show, but can't afford the ticket prices?
QOUTE FROM GONE2HAVASU::::Here's the biggest problem: They (Goldenvoice) price the seats in section 1 so expensive that most real country music fans either can't or don't want to spend that kind of money
TC: Please don't take offense, I was definately not refering to you. You guys were awesome and from the pics looked like you had a great time just like we did (probably better, you got back stage)!! I was refering to some of the people we saw that didn't seem like they cared about the music!! They weren't singing, dancing or even moving for that matter!!!
We went to the CMA Festival in Nashville last year and the tickets were only $185 per person total for all (4) nights on the floor up front!! I know they are making money, why for the same basic seats does GV have to charge $500 - $800??? Obviously to people like you, I and others who appreciate the music it is still worth it, but there are some people who just can't do that kind of money! I just think they could make the reserved seating a little more affordable for everybody!
P.S. I've got (8) tickets in a row on the floor for the CMA Festival for all (4) nights I am going to sell. I'll take what I paid for them! $185 x 8 = $1,480 gets you and 7 friends on the floor for all 4 nights!! We had a blast last year, but as usual, I fronted the money to buy all the tickets and alot of my group can't go now!!
T/C is right, Stagecoach is priceless!!!

You go to CMA Fest too? Sounds like you're not going this year.
I have Gold Circle tickets for CMA Fest. We're talking first ten or fifteen rows here. They are $300 for the entire thing. They include all kinds of perks plus I'm guaranteed to get the same seats or better every year.
In light of this the VIP seating at SC is a complete rip off. If you compare the CMA lineup with what SC has to offer it absolutely pales. One night of CMA Fest is equal to two nights of SC. So SC is a warmup to CMA for me. And I'll never shell out the crazy big bucks for reserved seating that SC charges.
I wish more of you could make the trip to Nashville to experience CMA!

don't the performers at cma fest play for free, though? i thought i had heard that. get them to come to stagecoach for free and i'm sure tickets would be cheaper.
also, without the reserved prices ga probably would not have been so cheap, which is what made it possible for many to attend this year(for better or worse, haha).

Maybe I was unclear in the way I wrote it. I meant no offense to anyone. More power to you if you can afford it. I was referring to the people who get comp'd and don't even enjoy what they are seeing. I know from experience how amazing a show can be when you are front and center. I had front row tixs to see Kenny, Dierks and Carrie Underwood about 2 years ago at the Home Depot Center in Carson. It was AMAZING and meeting them backstage was even better....(we even got some beer from his onstage bar LOL!)
I would love to be front and center for Stagecoach, but I could not afford it for me and my daughter. Maybe someday :) Iapologize and hope I helped clear it up for you.

I also heard that Kenny thought his set began at 9:45 and not 9:15.. And that Kid Rock extended his set for the fans, and because of Mr. KC not being ready.. I thought Kenny was amazing 2 years ago when he was there.. and that he seemed a little off. But we got out of there before he was over so we could beat the traffic, so I am not sure how it ended. Sorry to hear about anyone's disappointment, with him.

Yes, performers work for free at CMA Fest.
From the sounds of it they didn't really sell all that many reserved seats. Maybe if they reduced the price more people would buy. I know I might consider it if I didn't think it was such a ream job.

I have to agree that the 1st year Kenny was so much better. When are these artists going to realize how expensive it is for people to go to Stagecoach and that they are the main headliner for a very expensive venue. It costs us upwards of $3000 to come there for 4 days, ED1 camping, VIP seats, etc. At least Kid Rock brought his game, but this years Kenny and that awful performance by Tim McGraw last year, we are lucky the other artists compensated for their shortcomings.

What a great story! I was back in section 3 and have been seeing Kenny at least once a year for the past 11 years (yes 11) and I was disappointed in the crowd behavior also. I stayed to the end and while I don't think it was his best performance. I will always be a huge fan, and will continue to go see him every year with hopes that one year I will finally have the same opportunity that you and yours was given. I have a great picture of Kenny from the early days and would love to show it to him. I envy your opportunity. The best part of the show for me was the addition of "Me & You" which is my favorite song and the whole reason I started to listen to him the first place.
Thanks so much for sharing.

I am not blaming the venue at all . . . . I'm just saying that Vegas is a different world . . . . But Kenny is human like all of the rest of us . . . and so he made a mistake and got a little carried away . . . my main point was this is not the real KC
That is one expensive mistake... I agree he is human, but when you make as much money as he does per performance, mistakes aren't allowed like normal people... He was defenitely not on his "A" game that night... bummer

Don't worry that happens in here alot since people don't know each other...
Take it with a grain of salt....
I think maybe a standing section off to one side is a great idea....., for the fans of each gruop to get up and enjoy them...
They could empty the area between each set so that some individuals don't think they own the spot like real estate...lol:eek::cool:
Good idea's so everyone can enjoy the show and show each artist how much they love them...:D

??????????? Who has time to do that???? I was in 2nd row of P1... It got full as the headliners came on. The seats were 95% sold as far as I could see.
During the afternoon when bands like Zac Brown and Little Big town were on it looked like they only sold 15% of P1. But as the headliners came on the seats were pretty full. I can't see Cooter photo shopping a crowd in. LOL
