So I had some work done on my teeth last week and had no problems until Tuesday. Since then I've had throbbing pain on and off and it's getting progressively worse. It woke me up in the middle of the night last night and it hurt so bad I didn't think I'd be able to fall back asleep.

So I got an emergency appointment with the dentist today who gave me vicodin which means no alcohol.

I don't know what's worse, not being able to drink at SC or the possibility of a root canal. This totally F'n sucks!!!!!!!!! :mad::mad::mad:

I'm not too big of a girl, but def not petite. 5foot 175lbs. I've taken vicodin and Smirnofs and survived. So i don't think 1 or 2 beers will do much harm. Just pace your self.

You can do vicodin and alcohol. Seriously, I just had to take vicodin a few weeks ago becasue I messed my neck up. I was drinkin all night, and it was fantastic! I've done that twice now and was actually considering bringinig vicodin, becasue with the combo of both, I can drink all day and not wanna stop. You're fine, quit bein a baby, and come party!

Ok can I offer you advice from somone who worked in the Oral Surgery field for seven years and is now in school to be a RN

It is true you can take Vic and drink HOWEVER with that their are risks involved. The Vic and booz will have a much greater effect and could possibly make you sick or at worst cause you to have respitory problems if you get to messed up from the combo

Your other and BETTER choice

Every 2 hours take 2 extra strenght tylenol and then 2 hours later motrin (4 hr period) the combo seems to work well and you wont have the effects of a Narcidic like Vic

Just my thoughts but have fun and be safe

ask your dentist for some antibiotics. double up on the first dose. pain should be gone in 24 hours and you can get back to drinking

A beer and a vicodin wont kill you. You can take one in the morning to relieve your pain and then drink once you start drinking you wont feel the pain anymore. It might make it even more fun:)

Hey guys. Been a crazy day so this is my first post today. Unfortunately I'm not going to make it out of L.A. until 10pm if I'm lucky.

Anyhow, I REALLY REALLY REALLY appreciate all the words of support and encouragement. You guys are so freaking awesome!

I even appreciate the very questionable advice about drinking alcohol while taking vicodin ;)

In all honesty, not drinking isn't going to ruin the weekend for me. I can have a great time with or without alcohol. I was disappointed because I thought I'd be time traveling all weekend long but I'm still going to party with everyone and have a helluva time. To be honest, the pain from my tooth (and associated headache) are a bigger downer than the not drinking part.

I've abused the crap out of alcohol in my life (not as often or as hard as I used to) but I've never taken any kind of recreational drug. I do my best to take care of myself and be as healthy as I can be so I'm not going to mix alcohol with vicodin even if it won't kill me. I appreciate how motivated you guys are to intoxicate me :eek: but it'll have to wait until next year or next time a lot of us get together.
