View Full Version : Do they really oversell the camping passes?

I just read in an article that they over sell the camping spots and by friday afternoon/night they are overcrowded and even if you bought your passes months ago, they don't have room for you? Anyone have problems with this, we can't get there until late friday night and I'm gonna be really PO'ed if they don't have room for us!
this was a major problem last year... I can't say if they over sold, but i do know it was a big problem... a lot of people who purchased the ED 1 with hookups didn't have there space. they ended up bumping us to international camp spot.... it was a big mess last year.... however, Majority of the staff were extreamly nice... Bill F. and Paul T. from golden voice did everything he could to make it up the inconvenience. Im sure they fixed the problems this year... so i wouldn't worry.... hope my info helped

I don't think they overbooked last year. The problem was that quite a few early arriving moho's took a little more than one space, so when the late arrivals rolled in there was no more room. Hook-ups yes, space for the rv, no. I actually felt sorry for the RV'ers that didn't get a spot. I got a spot close to the front because I arrived the day before and set up where they put me. Honestly, I probably had about five feet too many. Multiply that by dozens of moho's and you got problems.
I'd bet a paycheck that this year will be much more organized as far as rv's and spaces;)
Yeah i was bumped last year... but no hard feelings... I will be back this year. just like the previous 2... it just keeps getting better every time.... besides GV were very understanding and helped out so our weekend wasn't wrecked. Bill F. was the nicest guy of em all... he took time to come over and check later to make sure we were happy.... GO-OD TI and ME... it spells Good Times.... see you all in 3 days...

No, not over sold...it was really the fault of the volunteers who didn't understand how to load the lots--can't fire a volunteer...sites are marked off, but parkers were asking if we wanted to lower our awnings, so they gave us more room...I actually got out of my RV & tried to explain to the parker how it's supposed to work, but he didn't care, told me to move my RV over to make room for the awning--ooooooookay...haha...that was ED2...I'll bet CA Speedway gave them a lesson on how to park us this yr...you'll get your spot.
I'll be at ED1 when the gates open

ohh NO i hope california speedway didnt train them this year. we will all be talking through our trailor and rv windows if thats the case. We would be lucky to even open our doors!!

ain't that the truth!!...I'm lucky, my sites stay correct every yr...but if you have slides, 15ft wide sites don't work....so happy to have a 20ft site at SC...w/my tiny RV, I've got room for REDNECK GAMES!!
Vodka's??...someone say Vodka's?...I'll have Blue Raspberry & Pink Lemonaide flavors...also bringing my "infuser"...so bring some fruit & a bottle of something & let's flavor some plain stuff!!

They did the same thing with the tents. Instead of putting another 8x8 in our corner they just let us have it. So we shared the extra corner with Temo's group.

It worked out GREAT!..I hope that happens again because I have a huge tent this year..lol.

Well if we bombard them with the 20 of us that are now checking in together I think we'll confuse then enough to get more space. =)

Last year we got away with all kinds of stuff because we were the third tent there.

I'll take that bet and you owe me a paycheck. Pulled in last night to EDII, followed the parking attendant to my spot, and checked the lines.. The 5th wheel next to me, who had parked when it was light, was 4 feet over the line into my spot!!! The tow vehicle is gone to Brawley and everyone was told to just "move down"!!!
I have to work today also, and was told at check in that I couldn't bring my truck back in to my site!!!!! That's just bullshit!!!!! Got to bring a handtruck now to move food, cooler, clothes, etc. into the trailer... I'm so mad I can't see straight!!!! :mad: Hope the rest of the weekend goes better than the start!!!!

Wow. That sucks. It SEEMS all is well in ED1, but, we'll see later on today when the masses get here.
As far as not brining in your truck? Yep, that's what they did last year as well and I think that's what the new tow vehicle pass was intended for. I parked my wifes car right in our space (barely) and have come and gone a couple of times already.
Good idea with the hand truck. I've also seen those big oversized wagons with knobby tires being used.
Hope thing get better for you and you can enjoy the rest of the weekend. Don't work too hard today.
