We booked a hotel in Palm Springs but are now wondering how to return home after the festival each night after a day of boozing? Are shuttles offered? Or are there ample taxis? Any suggestions? THANKS!!!

Nope...
You should either hire a limo service to pick ya up around midnight or find a local taxi service.

If others are going the same direction you can ride share one.

I would go on line and find one now to see what you can do in advance.T

he traffice will be better since they enlarged both roads on each side of the venue.

Yet the traffic getting out is like an hour to go a couple of blocks sometimes...
So if memorie serves me right they used the corner of Monre and 50th as pick up's for limos and cab's...

Make your plans now to save alot of head aches....

Let the show begin....

For two years we've driven in and out of SC. You just need to designate a driver and have that person stop drinking mid-day. SC is so long that even the DD can do some drinking if they start and stop early.

I don't recall traffic getting out being as bad as horsephotog says. The worst part is the loooong walk back to the car.

Very true on all counts...
Yet if ya live here and want to go a certian way you are on the hour long truck to be taken down the only streets the police will let you turn on keeping you in circles...

Us that live here joke about this every year....1 hour to go somewhere in La quinta...
And the walk is not too bad.....Just start walking today and you will be ready for that 1.5 mile hike to the parking lots...lol

Your normal drive to Palm Springs is 45min so add a little traficc and you would be about the same hour as us locals...lol:D

Yeah..I think many people who have never been to La Quinta don't realize the drive to Palm Springs down 111! It is not that short! And yes, the weekend will be full of right hand turns only...everywhere! So be patient.

there is also no overnight parking in the general parking lots.

SC was lucky on getting out of the parking lot. We had a different experience on Sunday night in 07. Basically the traffic control sucked the big hairy one because there was only one driveway set up for thousands of cars all leaving at the same time. Net result: sit in your car and move inches at a time....Grrrrrrrr. Maybe in 08 they set up more driveways for exiting at the end of the night???

Cooter may state there is no overnight parking...but many people ended up doing that on accident. Some fell asleep in their cars waiting for the traffic to clear.

NOT saying it is allowed.

Hey tallbabe85, me and 3 of my friends are staying in palm springs too. We're trying to figure out transportation to and from the festival as well. i think we only need to find a ride for Saturday though since we're talking about designating a drive on sunday. let me know how many are in your group and maybe we could work out sharing a shuttle/limo.

We are staying in Rancho Mirage. We found a shuttle service that is picking up and dropping off people. It costs $27 p/p each way but I am thinking it might be worth it to avoid all the hassles of traffic and parking and designated drivers.

YIKES!!!!

$54 round trip per person? That would cost my crew over $400 over two days. For that kind of money we could have stayed at a Holiday Inn!

I know...still debating whether it is worth it. Might try driving on Sat and if it sucks too bad take the shuttle on Sunday.

Trust me, it won't be that bad. We've driven for the last two years and it's not nearly so bad that we would spend over $200 per day to avoid it.

Staying at the Travelodge in Palm Springs - we'll probably be driving each day, but have room for 2 (maybe 3) people if you want to carpool....

SC, the only concert where parking is cheaper than the concert ticket, FREE! The traffic isn't bad as half the people are camping and others leave at different times... If you have ever been to a concert before, it's no different.
