We board (or is that bored? LOL) veterans know we're going to get about 50 of these threads in the next couple of weeks. So, I thought we could throw it out there to help curtail the influx of questions.:D

One outfit per day. One pair of comfy shoes and one back-up. Do yourself a favor and leave the cutsie shoes at home. Your feet will thank you for it. Flip flops are fine if you're used to walking VERY FAR distances in them, they're also good for the shower trailer. A lightweight jacket for late evening.
Pain reliever - Aspirin, Tylenol, Advil, etc.
Batteries - camera, flashlight or lantern, etc.
Sunscreen
Lotion - also sunburn pain relieving spray and sore muscle rub
Seating - blanket, beach towel, folding chair, etc. (just make it something you can easily carry)
Hat
Sunglasses - eye drops are good if the dusty wind will be a problem for your eyes
First Aid - couple of Bandaids and some Neosporin will do the trick
Shade - if you're camping in the Forum this is a MUST
Camping? - tent, sleeping bag or blanket, pillow, chair, cooler, extra tent stakes and mallet
Food - think about the time you'll actually be in camp and plan accordingly
Beverages - again, how long will you actually be in camp, WATER
Wet wipes
Toilet Paper
Personal Hygiene - do yourself a favor and put your deodorant in a baggie in the cooler. Mine melted on my sleeping bag last year.
Lighting - we didn't need our lanterns in camp in the Forum because of the stadium lights, but, you do need something for after dark bathroom trips.:p
Red Cups, etc. - stuff to eat your food on, with and drink your beverages out of
Bandana - you'll want to get it wet to help keep you cool inside the venue
Medications
Camera - film, extra cards, etc.
Money - for souvenirs, food, beverages and water in the venue, ice in the campgrounds, etc.

Great Attitude

Lip Balm w/sunblock - thanks for this one Countrygurl!
Back up prescription eyeglasses and repair kit, trash bags - thanks KC4avon
Paper Towels - got this from Kitty and IHML's packing list, thanks Ladies
Backpack - or some type of carry all bag to use going into the venue. Much better than a purse! - thanks Ms. Jenn
Extra contact lenses - thanks Lizzy

I have a luggage cart that folds up that I got from Walmart. It can hold up to 200 pounds and I use it to bring my stuff from the car to the campsite. It was a major help last year getting all the gear in, especially the cooler since my daughter is too young to be able to help carry the heavy stuff. Just an idea.

Less is more. Look at how long you'll be away from home. Ask yourself what you NEED for that time frame knowing you'll be camping, walking, in the heat, etc. If you can't say for certain you'll use it, seriously consider leaving it behind.

Leave your jewelery and valuables at home.

DO NOT put your ticketmaster tickets in your car. They will turn black and be ruined by the sun.

If you're driving more than an hour or so, get your car serviced. Also arrange with someone at home to have spare keys and directions to the venue in case you need to be rescued because you lost your keys or your car broke down.

Stagecoach Tank Top/T-Shirt to be worn on Saturday.

I brought so much stuff last year, 'just in case'. I'm not making that mistake again!

Everything in bold has been added after the fact. I'll keep this a running list so check back.

Yay I am glad somebody started this thread.

Gotta have a hat.....or a visor, or something on your head....unless you are OK with the sun in your eyes all day long. I'd say the biggest challenge is the heat of the day. Lots of bottled water is key. Somebody on another thread said they bought a lot of the frozen lemonades. Think I'll do the same in the late afternoons this year.

you guys might think this is weird but a tube of superglue. After a far walk and walking all day in sandals sometimes I get a crack in my heel and I put some superglue on the cut and I am pain free and it is sealed to where dirt stays out.

ohmygosh, gotta bring your Hand held walkie talkie radios! We need to pick an official SC channel that everyone should have. Then when we're driving & see a loon on the road, we can call them & see if they're one of us!! Also nice to make plans & see if others are awake yet. I hardly use mine, so don't know anything about which chammels to use.

Super glue

Bug repellant is an idea. I didn't need it last year at all.

Super glue for a cracked heel is interesting. Never tried that. I just buy us both new sneakers about a month before hand and save the old ones to use at SC so they can get trashed and then they can be tossed out.

Glow sticks and such are great for fun, absolutely include some fun.:p

I was looking to keep this to what new people need to bring that they might not think of. As well as what they might think to bring that they don't need.

We have a lot of peeps here that have camped in the previous years that can attest to what to bother with and what not. That was a HUGE benefit for me last year for my first go-around to come here and read what the veterans had to say.

Keep the ideas coming folks. What to bring? What not to bother with?

How hot do you think the weather will be? Should I bother with jeans and boots or will it mostly be dresses/shorts & flip flops? I don't do well with "sticky" heat.

Hot. Very hot. Dry desert type of hot. Muggy hot if it gets cloudy. Hot.

Seriously, stick with short, tanks, dresses. Long pants and light jacket for late night.

1st year - sandles (had to go to first aid tent for bandaids with MAJOR blisters)
2nd year - flip flops. My feet were bloody inbetween my big toes.

This year I'm finally going to get smart and wear my tennis shoes that I walk in all the time long distances. If you can't walk at least 5 miles a day in something then DON'T wear it.

Excellent idea. We use those beach bag backpack thingies. You know the ones with the ropes you use to cinch it shut and throw it over your shoulder? I don't know what they're called, I just know they're super comfy and hold a lot. I use it for the Del Mar Fair too so I can put the stuff I buy in it through out the day. Works great!

I received this great backpack as a gift for the first SC. It's perfect and lightweight (until I fill it up). It allows me to not have a purse. I just make sure I wear shorts or pants with pockets to carry my camera and money around when I'm wondering. I can leave my backpack at my seat. It's got all these compartments both netted and zippered for easy access.

In it I pack for the day:

roll of toilet paper
hair brush
lip balm
mister
wet naps
sunscreen SPF 50
aloe vera lotion
extra t-shirt
light sweat shirt for evening (which I have yet to need or use)
hand cloth/wash cloth - whatever you want to call it

it also has room for the souviners I purchase or grab. Program/t-shirts/fan/streamers/lai's

tgcali

We're on the same page Rose. My carry in backpack has:

toilet paper
lip balm
sunburn spray
sweatshirt
beach towel to sit on
wet wipes
batteries
bandaids
tylenol
personal fan (one of those battery operated you can get at walmart on a string for a couple of bucks, works great)
camera and money stay with me while I roam

Still have plenty of room for stuff I buy!

That's why I listed medications. It amazes me when folks have necessary meds like an inhaler and forget them when they go on a trip. That would be the first thing in my bag and I would check to make sure it's there numerous times.

Just a little thought for those that are interested. Not necessities, but comforts.

I bought a fold-up straw mat at wally world for like 10 bucks that is big enough to cover most of my 8X8 space. It has a carry strap and weighs next to nothing. That way I can be more comfortable since I'm allergic to grass, along with SO many other things.

Also, we got a bamboo umbrella stand so it's light enough to tote to the site and we can use our beach umbrella w/tilt for shade. Sweet!

I picked up two 5 dollar camping pillows that you can blow up really easily and they have a memory foam layer. Pretty comfortable, very lightweight and lay flat for porting, and I don't have to fuss with my big pillow from home getting dirty. Nice! (Again, the allergies come into play here, but these things are super cool so you might check into them!)

My brother gave my daughter a blanket that is fleece on top and vinyl on bottom. It folds into a carry case with a strap and also is very light weight. We're bringing it to put on the ground in the venue with our beach towels or chairs on top. I have no idea where he got it from though. Sorry.

I bought some blueberry muffin mix I'll be making a loaf out of and some whipped butter that stays soft even when cold. I'm going to cut the loaf into slices and put it into a gallon sized zip-loc and put that and the butter in the cooler. Good eatin' there.

I'll let ya know if I come up with any more!

What Cooter said.

If you're in GA you are too far back to need ear plugs but if you're close up protect yourself. When you get ringing in your ears that's tinnitus and it means you may have done damage.

We all like to have fun but please be careful. You'll get over a hangover but permanent damage to your hearing would suck. It probably won't happen from just once concert but all those concerts over the years do add up.

Be sure to LABEL everything you hope to get returned, should you misplace it. Take a pic of your info for your camera, in case people find your mem card or camera, but also label it. Label your chairs, cane, walkers--ha ha, flask, light up cups, fans, blankets...if you use your cell number people can call & return asap. I like the clear labels, but any will work...you can hand write them or use the computer...or go to Vistaprint.com & have them made up--get a custom shirt while you're there.

Why are they called "sundry" items? I've always wondered this.

One friend just had the idea of the year...though it's pretty simple. Since there are 4 of us this year, all from different areas and meeting up to drive in together -- we're just going to bring the empty cooler, set up camp, then head out the nearby town and get our food, ice, water, beer there. Instead of figuring out whose bringing what, etc.

IheartMillerLite
04-13-2009, 01:35 PM
I've wondered that too!

Smart move on just going to buy stuff once you set up camp. We'll probably run out for more ice and stuff. You and Carly should wander over to our area at some point. We'll have the Miller Lite flag flying high!

Also, I'm hotel-ing it, but I wanted to make up some jello shooters (virgin effort at it, but I thought I'd try) to contribute to the fun....I can bring them on Saturday morning if someone wants to volunteer cooler/fridge space for them....PM me!!

Dollar Tree
Wet Wipes, travel pack, 45 wipes $1.00!!!
Aloe Vera Lotion $1.00!!! - Wal mart started a $4.00 and went up from there.
Travel toothbrushes with holders (3) for $1.00!!!
48 piece plastic cutlery set for $1.00!!!

Walmart
Purchased Hot/Cold reusable pack plus a canister of sleeves with an additional pack along with 2 bandanas to hide them for my neck for less than $15.00. Looks like SC09 is going to be 100+ for us.

If you wear contacts bring at least an extra pair with you, the combination of the wind and the grass particles flying around it is a good idea to have an extra pair. You don't want to say I was at Stagecoach but I couldn't see anything!

Not sure if it's made it on the list yet, but... if you're sitting in reserved seats, bring nail clippers or some kind of wire type cutters so you can clip the little bands that tie the chairs together, and take your souvenir chair home. :D

SC07 was just tie wraps inbetween each seat and by day two the rows were all messed up.

SC08 not only was there tie wraps inbetween each seat BUT every 3rd or 4th seat was a stake holding the row down to the ground to keep it in line. When you tried to pry those seats loose most lost the leg and were left behind.

Hopefully 09 with...you can't take your seat until the last performer is finished will have this seat removal all worked out.

They don't sell beer in the campgrounds. In the beer garden in the venue, yes. In the campgrounds, no.

You can use either one to go visit all the areas, but you need the proper one to stay.

You only get one 8X8 spot for each camping pass.
