View Full Version : Beer Gardens inside the festival???

Many years ago I went to Coachella and HATED it, mostly because the only way to get a drink *inside* the festival was in gated "beer gardens", none of which were placed anywhere near any of the stages. It SUCKED! I want desperately to attend stagecoach this year, but if I have to sit in a cage in order to drink beer and NOT even see the bands, I'm out.

Does anyone know if Stagecoach is set up the same way? Newspaper photos from the first year gave the impression that people were, in fact, watching the bands, drinking their beers, like grown-ups.

Please help!!!

last year we roamed all around with drinks in hand with no problem. I sure do hope they set back up a VIP tent over by the end stage like they did for only 1 day last year.

The issue I had last year was that they didn't have mixed drinks at the bar next to the Palomino stage and they wouldn't let you buy more than two drinks at a time. It was a pisser having to walk half way across the grounds to get two Dixie cups of Sailor & Coke.

it's sad that you can only purchased mixed drinks in the VIP area. I'm not a beer drinker.

HD - how many hands do you have? I can only carry two at a time. :D

No I too can only carry two but since it was a long walk I asked for a double and they said no that constitutes two intoxicating beverages. Bastards. The shot glasses were also smaller than regulation size so stay away from that.

As for the gardens, they lifted those restrictions for Stagecoach. You can buy your drinks and go anywhere in the festival grounds.

The first year they had a great bar at the far stage (also had a dance floor) this was the only bar with Kettle One etc..top shelf drinks. Not there the 2nd yr (nor was the dance floor)

I will assume (I know I know) that they will allow the same for this year, to let us walk where ever we want with drinks. The country crowd is a little more subdued (sp) than the Coachella crowd...so that may be the reason for the change in rules.

What I try to do is keep going back to the same bartender and tip REALLY WELL. It does get me a little bit extra than the under a shot per drink they are supposed to pour. They are generous until the nazi supervisors start watching their every move and they start getting into trouble. When it gets super busy in the late afternoon you can get your two drinks (shot) & a drink and then finish them while your waiting at another bar in another line for your two more.

of course I NEVER did this myself

Yeah I did manage to find a few bartenders that were also shnockered and pouring more generously. It seems that they get stingy the later it gets.

I agree that tipping your bartender well gets you a better pour, it worked for us last year. I was sad that they only had mixed drinks in the V.I.P area after the year before they had the other area, I got lucky the second day when a friend had an extra wristband to the V.I.P area. I hope that they have the other bar available for mixed drinks this year!
