It's a publication that was focused on just california country up and comers, but I think it may have fizzled out, looks as though they only released two books... hhmmm, Coulda been a great thing. I hope they are still around...

The November issue was off the hook good and the magazine just kept getting better and better with each issue. This darn economy and a new start up magazine, it just ran out of money and people were holding back advertising dollars. Gary's vision will hopefully be able to make a come back. Southern California Country Music is just really starting to take off. My article that was never published for November was my Kid Rock/Rehab review at Universal Amp and I hinted that Kid might make the list of performers for SC09. It would have hit the newstands just a couple of days before the SC line-up announcement. Pam called me and asked if I nailed it....grrrrrr. YEP!

oh that really sucks, I would have loved to have seen that work out... I think there are a few things I would do different with it, hindsight however is always 20/20, but the concept is awesome. Hopefully he brings that back someday. Talk about bad timing with the economy, not good... Tell Gary if they ever need anything feel free to ask...

Anyone else have any input on Cal Country Mag... If he does bring it back, it's always good to have constructive criticism right... Mine would be, a glossy cover, a little more structure and seperation in the layout and feature a national artist in each issue. The cover feature with a national artist to draw readers in... Just my thoughts

While I agree that a National Artist would draw people in, that would defeat the purpose of a "cali-country" themed mag. Then it would just be another Country Weekly!! haha

I bet a million he would of done the glossy if costs permitted. I love the paper style ok...money, its alllll money honey!

Here is my personal suggestion to any magazine ; NO LINE DANCING ARTICLES!!!

brwaaaaaahahaahahahahaa........

hahaha, yeah... true... Ya know what, even though it kinda defeats the purpose, you should do a national artist and find a way to tie that into the cal country part, like that interview would be about a california country show they may be playing, etc... whatever it is, you tie it into californa.

It is all about money, and without the national exposure, or draw, it's hard to talk people into advertising in something that has no big name exposure. Great concept, just needed some refining I think, but all around cool mag... The content inside was a little on the weak side, but I think if he coulda survived the economy crash, it would have developed into somethin really cool! Just my thoughts though, nothin bad! =)

O.k. I see it...hehehe

poke fun at me all you want. You would have enjoyed laughing at me in November's issue. I did an overall view of all the lessons I took. Line dancing, two-stepping, waltz, swing etc. One of the best times was going to an "alternative" Country club. I learned a line dance called "the shadow". Someday we all gotta go. You would have a blast with this line dance.:D:p
