S.D.'s Ball & Chain is an easy one. D, A & G. In that order through the whole song. Or Don't Think Twice by Bob Dylan.

My son and I have learned sooo much in the few months we have been their, even put on a concert! That was a blast! You'll love his music background and the songs he loves to play, blues, rock etc...(doesn't care much for country, and teases me...but what the heck!! he puts up with me .ahahaha)

Throw a C cord in and these are the only cords I know and I can play around a campfire for hours... All you need to write a country song is three chords and the truth. Just as long as everone else is drunk and you sing louder than you strum!

Story of My Life... Brown eyed Girl... Folsom Prison Blues... The Gambler... Born in the USA... (two cords)… Sweet Home Alabama…. And a bunch more if you can remember the words.

Try searching online for “3 chord songs” or something like that. Youll be a friggin rockstar at your campsite!

Basically all the songs I know are strictly G, D & C. It really is all you need to know. Although I have been trying to learn scales lately. Cash's I Got Stripes is only two chords also.

I just told WWF that yesterday...just learn those chords asap...class will teach tech and scales etc.

In fact that is what we were doing in class last night, minor pentatonic, and blues pentatonic! READY TO WRITE SONGS!! HEHEEHE

K..everyone needs to bring their guitars to SC and WWF!

Supposedly minor pentatonic is the easiest. I try to stick with the punk/country ethos of not getting too technical.

OMG....the song they killed at SC08 and piped inbetween each performers set on the mane stage. I'm just now able to enjoy this one again. Next will be Kenny doing it live but I don't want to hear it before that.

After the 10th time I knew all the words and had purchased my first country CD.....Kenny Chesneys Greatest Hits!! LOL! And I NEVER LOOKED BACK!! Haha! :D

Never try re-stringing your guitar while intoxicated either.

Thanks for that advice! I need to do that, I will leave that to my teacher until I can perfect it. He laughs when I tell him about trying to play while intoxicated, he tells me many stories of the day when he did...and he is awesome at playing and can't do it!! He writes a lot of great music too, for TV shows etc...but he admits Country is not his fav!!

I was just imagining the battle wounds of re-stringing while intoxicated and started rolling, my kitty is mad for me waking her up! I would end up looking like that chick on The Doll House on TV, if you have seen that.

I ended up turning some of the tuning heads backwards. Still sounds good but it looks funny.

I used Chords. Tabs confuse me! too much to look at! It is the strum patterns that get the best of me. I need to learn more on how to listen to a song and pull out the pattern.

My son and I have private guitar classes and we learn a lot from him, going thru the theory part (eeessssh) right now. He puts on mini concerts and we are doing another for our city's concert in the park for 4th of July.

But at home I play around with youtube and find songs I like, but I also I love this website, he has the music, chords and the quick lessons. I have had to email this guy for questions and he is cool about teaching and sharing info...nice for a free website to learn new stuff.

Totally agree about strum patterns. Amazing what a huge difference it makes when you are strumming the chords properly.

I'll check out that site you posted. Cowboylyrics.com also has a lot of country chords but they seem less accurate to me than the ones at countrytabs.com.

Another good site for learning guitar is http://www.justinguitar.com/. If it wasn't for Justin's free online lessons I may never have gotten off the ground. His lessons made more sense to me than any other website or book I had at the time.

I think you mentioned learning how to string your guitar, he has great video lessons on how to do it which I always refer to when changing my strings.

I started playing about two years ago but I've hit a plateau that I'm not going to get over unless I start playing a lot more. Friggin bar chords are killing my progress.

May I request 'Gun Powder & Lead'? Just wanted to stay in theme for this year's artists. I would request Kid, but I don't think that's doable.

Yeah...my hand hurt from bar chords!! WTF where they thinking inventing those?

I use cowboy lyrics sometimes. I have used Justins also.
