hi, I'm a first time stagecoach attendee (and recent country music convert) and I'm thinking about tent camping (though it blows being unable to bbq on site!) I was just reading about the guidelines and whatnot and came across the needing a "people pass".

I've never heard of this. what exactly is it?

The people pass in tent camping, is the same as required for RV camping. Each person must posses a people/camping pass in order to enter and camp in either the RV or Tent forum areas. $50 per person to purchase one.

When your purchase you RV spot, your tickets come with either 6-8 passes...but when you purchase your Forum Tent camping spot, this IS your pass, and anyone else staying in your tent with you must also buy a pass.

Oh, okay...so just to make sure we're on the same page, two of us will be camping together, so it'd be $100 for the both of us and we'd be able to check in thursday evening on the 23rd and stay until noon sunday the 26th?

that seems too good to be true!

Fantastic! Thanks!!

one last thing, i sweeeear. 8x8 seems somewhat small for my tent. is there anything that keeps people that are driving up together from each getting their own lot.

I guess what i'm really asking is, can i pay for one lot, and my sister pay for another (only if we can get them right next to eachother of course) that way we could have more room to set up our tent and extras?

im just being selfish, arent i?! =\

need i say again that ive never done anything like this before?

Each person gets 8x8...so now you have a 16x16 spot for the two of you. That should fit. It gets insane in there either way! You will have a blast and the room wont matter anymore. haha

Make sure you and your sister arrive together or you won't get 2 8X8s next to each other!

for those of you who forgot math.. haha.

8x8 is one
8x16 OR 16x8 is two

16x16 would be for 4 people.

just sayin

haha, youre so right. in my head i just automatically doubled ALL of it as well, but yeah, it'd be 8x16, which would be more than enough for the both of us :D

..actually, 8x8 should be okay too, but she tends to overpack EVERYTIME we go camping. party at our spot!! maybe. hah ^_^

If I show up earlier to set up a ten for my girlfriend and myself will they let me do it if I'm holding both camping passes? I intend to go down early on Friday and she would meet me there after work, say about 4:00-5:00 PM.

I would think so...but here is a thought, there will be so many people there, just ask someone to ask as your friend and walk in with you.

But...just a curious question...your girlfriend doesn't sleep in your tent with you? Or is that the "dog house tent" if one of you is bad:p (assuming you are a male, with Bill in your screen name?)

Yes, Kymery,
She will be sharing the tent with me, or ay least I hope so as long as I don't cause too much trouble, I'm thinking about the amount of space allowed for the tent for the two of us.

If I get into too much trouble do you have any suggestion :-)

All I know is that last year we had to check in at a table and THEN we got our wristbands for camping. I already purchased my camping pass this year and all I received in the mail was a ticket that says camping pass--no actual wristbands.

does it get overbooked quickly? should i be worrying about not being enough room if i dont book it by late feb?

I believe camping did sell out last year. We got there Friday morning and the camping was more than 1/2 full (but then again, the SHOW was on Friday also!)

We had 5 people camping and had PLENTY of space...but again - be sure you check in together to get the best use of your space!

(We'll have to do a sign again....maybe we should paint flags to post in our camps - like on Survivor) :)

I plan on getting there thursday evening. we should be a-okay then :D

We had a sign in our campground with our screen names last year - but it got pretty beat up...so I was thinking we should do canvas instead...

So are you tent camping again this year? What is it like, what can we expect. There are six of us going. my Girlfriend and I, her Daughter and Boyfriend, and a Friend of mine, from work, and his Girlfriend (they're from San Diego we're from Hemet). We are all first timers this year although I've been wanting to since the begining. Does anyone have any tips?

One word of caution..do not overdo the partying the first night you are there. As Cooter once said..."'it's a marathon, not a sprint"...I learned the hard way last year. Have fun....it's an experience, not just a concert.

Over did it the first night out of the gate did we? We saw more than a few revelers carried out before it even got dark. I think Cooter's quote should our mantra for '09.

People are going to shoot me for saying this....but I'm glad it's only 2 days this year because 3 just about killed me. Between all the drinking and that gawd awful 100+ degrees everyday with just about no shade and all the running around from Stage to Stage to try and catch every performer, it takes me weeks to recover.

Although I wouldn't trade the experience, the performances and the people for just about anything. It's the best party around!!!

I liked two days better as well. Partying over three days was way more costly.

Biggest tip for camping - arrive together (last year some of us were coming from LA, someone from San Diego - we met at a gas station not far from the venue to drive there together)... If there's 6 of you, you'll probably get a 16'x24' spot, which would be plenty... We had 5 8x8 spots and had plenty of space for 2 regular tents, one small tent for all our stuff (we used luggage locks on the zippers of that one), a picnic table and our folding chairs...

We've only camped the once, but here are my tips based on last year for the tent camping:
-check in together
-get some kind of locks for your tents (didn't hear of any thefts, but just in case)
-pack snacks! (was sooooo thankful for PB & J sandwiches at 1am! haha)
-pack toilet paper - never know if the portapotties will run out
-plan on showering EARLY (the shower line got LONG after like...7 or 8am)
-it got KINDA cool at night, so pack a sweatshirt or something...(was super windy a couple nights!)

Two days will be plenty.....plenty of drinking, partying, heat, walking, and people chaos..not to mention the trash, food, hangovers, lost clothes, and water supply. As it is many will be there on Thursday when the gates open up, so I do agree a 2 day festival will be terrific. Ok, Rose, they can shoot me, too!!

It is a mortal LOCK that there will be a seperate thread about this very topic as the dates move closer, cuz its just gonna get lost on this thread. So keep an eye out. Guess we could start one now, but it will just get pushed back so far.
But my suggestions as a 2 time solo camper:

EARPLUGS! (the partying last year was out of control - not in the fun way)

TOILET PAPER!!! LOTS OF IT!!

shower early (the closing time they will give for the showers means the showers are TURNED OFF at that time, it doesn't matter if you are "in-line" by closing time - No shower FOR YOU!! ;))

baby wipes/wet ones FOR SURE!!

thats all I can think of right now....

Thank you so much for the good advice Kitty, Kymery, festivalfan and Angel, My girl is usually pretty prepared but I will definitely mention your suggestions, lots of water and snacks, bring toilet paper, have ear plugs available (I can bring these from work, I'll bring a lot of them so if anyone needs 'em look me up), lock up stuff to to keep honest people honest, shower early, don't get too drunk and stay out of trouble with my beautiful girlfriend.
All of this is sage advice.

Are we there yet?

SACRAMENTO!!!
01-31-2009, 06:42 PM
Don't worry about the earplugs. If you party hard enough with the rest of us you will be so drunk nothing will keep you awake.

wow, it sounds like there's a lot more to this shindig than going over to listen to a bunch of singers/bands!

Like I mentioned before, I've never been to anything like this, and the only reason I am this year is because I won tickets from the radio station :D

Sounds like it's going to be a lot of fun...I really need to reserve a campsite though. otherwise, I may end up crashing at one of your camps haha!

How I have let myself not attend Stagecoach until this year blows my mind.

....with every day that passes, it seems less and less likely that i will be able to attend after all.

this makes me incredibly sad.

true, except that my mum's bday lays on the same paycheck. going to stagecoach will run me around $500 for my sister and i to spend 4 days there ($100 campground, $150 gas, $250 drinks + food for my sister and I for 4 days)...

I'm not sure if i can do it.

geez. thats even considering that the tickets are FREE!!!!!

$150 gas...what the heck ya driving? My huge truck won't even take 1/2 that, round trip, from Riverside area. Now the food and drinks...well that is understandable, unless you plan accordingly and only eat one meal in the venue (which I don't even eat once I have a few beers...my liquid diet)

Don't know about tent camping, I've only done the RV's, BUT IF you need to buy the wristbands, I'll be there Thurs & looks like I'll have extra wristbands to sell for $40 each. Ouch on your milage!
