As noted on a few other threads, tickets are already showing up on TicketsNow for re-sale. Not withstanding the judgement of people who would buy these tickets on the early days of them still being very available - the wrist band change this year seems to make selling very difficult. TicketsNow is a Ticketmaster company - so I sent them the following E mail....

How can someone purchase SEATS (not GA) via TicketsNow if the wrist bands MUST be picked up ON SITE by the person who purchased the with Ticketmaster? Only tickets will be mailed this year according to Goldenvoice. . The first two years tickets and wrist bands were sent in the same package. How will this work for tickets listed on your site?????? (other then the person selling them meeting you at a ticket window onsite - I don't see that happening a lot...)

I personally don't mind re-sellers - always buyer beware - and judging from the generally poor locations that people are trying to sell on first day (NO GC listed yet) these aren't brokers IMO.

I bet the rules change many times before the concert....

You have a very valid point and you are never a trouble maker...

I always thought that scalping tickets was illegal, that is what is happening, no matter what fees they add, some state or officals need to put a stop to this nonsense so that "Joe the Plummer" can purchase decent tickets , this is a re post from the other tread I just posted.

thats kinda frustrating. im fine with resellers too. if they can make money, then good for them but it kinds sucks for those who REALLY wanted to go.

Don't worry the only ones at the end of this to feel sorry for will be the not so smart resellers stuck with the bag....;)

Actually in the state of California that's not true (I'm NOT a lawyer). What is illegal is selling at the SITE of an event - like the Rosebowl at a UCLA Game - no can do - but craigslist - is ok. Goldenvoice had a few roving police last year near the ticket stands to watch the re-selling. I myself had some extra seats - and when asked - told them the truth - that I was giving them away - which was true. A few people couldn't come last year.

Joe the Plummer will do much better buying straight from Ticketmaster at least in the early days - unless JOE want's to pay the $799 seats - of which there are only 300 - and who knows how many really go on sale - very few of these ever get sold - last year the price came down closer to the event.

I"m rambling.... It's going to be another great year!!!

he says "psh cracker! im in for killing a guy".....

obvious answer? all you will probably do is exchange the ticket for a wristband. or they will punch a whole in the ticket and hand you your wristband. why does everyone think things are always so complicated.

I think its because of this statement on the website:

VIP/RESERVED seat wristbands will be distributed at the festival via multiple wristband/ticket exchange stations in onsite camping as well as outside the festival and outside the reserved seating area's. ID & both tickets required to pick up your wristband.

do you have a problem showing id? i am not sure what the actual issue here is.

i think they should just show their ticket and id and get it stamped or punched and get their wristband. if the ticket is already punched or stamped or whatever they do to see you already got a wristband then you gotta take that up with whoever used your ticket already to get a wristband.

Hi CG

I don't have a problem with showing my DL. I think it's an awesome idea.

I'm the one that suggested the wristband color should go by section, so folks can't sneek into better seats and crowd out those who are at their legitamate seat.

So cooter's post about the tix, that have been resold, clarifies what the initial posts were about.

again - i'm not a lawyer - (and try to stay as far as I can away from that profession) but in my experience every State has it's own laws - and some cities go even further. New York City for example - non of the Broadway shows have tickets sold for above face IN New York - so all the "scalpers" are located in New Jersey - with the tickets delivered by lefty to your hotel.

Indio may have it's own regulations on this. Then again Horsephotographer could always set up a exchange at her house :):):)

Most laws regarding this issue are handled on a state-wide level, not county or city. Yes, they can throw you in jail, but that's a ton of paperwork most cops will avoid and just issue a ticket instead.

Personally, if I end up with extra tickets to ANYTHING I offer them up at cost or just a little under value. I've been on the desperate end for tickets and know that being able to go to a show you can't really afford makes it even better. I hate the people that buy tickets just to turn around and gouge people out of hard earned money!

What is the point of showing ID to get your wristband? Its not like your name is printed on the ticket......

bayareagirl16

the wrist bands are probably separated into envelopes and filed by name.

HAHAH i agree. its like everyone must know EXACTLY how things will go on that weekend. nothing will be left to the imagination. i wonder what songs kid rock will play..... how many vendors are there? will i be able to purchase trinkets and nick-knacks?? What will the weather be like? should i bring my wallet??

thats the beauty of life, its unpredictable. if you find out that you've gotten to the concert and realized you wished you had brought an extra blanket, then just remember to bring one next year. trial and error never hurt anyone.

things aren't as complicated as they seem....

Probably cuz 9 times out of 10 they are...and usually because people don't know how things are gonna work (aka CONFUSION) so we might as well get as many questions answered as possible before we get there and hopefully that helps things move along smoothly....its called being prepared.....were you never a boyscout?? dont worry. no matter how many questions are answered on this forum, there will still be a few thousand people running around like chickens with their head cut off at the festival screwing up lines and making havoc for the rest of us...

NOOOOO.

Half of the fun is to plan!! Also, when I am dropping basically $2000 on this trip, I want to make sure I get my money's worth and have a good time with as few unpleasant surprises as possible.

When I take the family to Disneyworld, I plan for like 6 months ahead of time to make sure we get on as many rides, avoid as many lines, have dining reservations etc as possible. You could stumble through a trip like that also but be stuck in 2 hour lines and be blocked out of the best places to eat.

Anytime 40,000 people get together, I want to have my act together! :)
