The past 2 years we've managed to get ourselves sufficiently plastered in the parking area through tailgating and then just "maintain" inside by having a beer every 2 hours or so to tide you over...

OMG...I learned that trick YEARS ago. I keep a box of tampons in my work drawer and my bosses never go through my desk! hehehe. You should see the look on their faces the first time they find it. I also keep them visable in my purse when you open it up and guys just wave you on through security check points. ;) a box of tampons are kryptonite to men

Last year, our group had the lawn chairs that fold up int he bag.. we put our drinks in a gatorade bottle or water bottle and put them all the way down in the middle of the chair. When they felt around the chair and the bottom of the bag, they couldn't feel anything.. It worked all 3 days : )

Wow! Glad that worked for you...we got in the lines that turned the chair bags upside down or made you take the chair out of the bag!!! We were the few people not sneaking anything in, it was way too hot for us to want anything but water and frozen lemonade!

Thats what we did last year as well. i do know that some people we met had theirs taken away b/c they checked the middle. i think if you go while the lines are long to get in then they dont care, but if there isn't a line then they have the time to be more carefull.

IHML found these for us to take on cruises... http://www.rumrunnerflasks.com/ They are great to put in pockets for concerts/sporting events (don't set off metal detectors).... The huge ones fit an entire bottle....and wouldn't be terribly easy to sneak into SC - but the smaller ones fit a good amount and are easier to hide.

White rum or tequila in an Aquafina bottle works well if they let you bring in bottles. Or you can pre-mix your cocktail before entering. Pour out half the Coke and fill with Sailor Jerry or Jim Beam.

i just put a bottle of jack in my belly and go from there, by the end of the night i am nice and sober and ready to start again.

that's what i did in '04 at coachella, but i finished my bottle at about 4am. checked out of the hotel at noon and went to coachella. i then proceeded to sleep in some shade i found in vip for about 4 hours as the jack sweated out my pores in the 110 degree heat. i must have smelled amazing!

We do get tuned up in the parking lot before going in so as to cut down on spending top dollar for lightly poured libations. Last year you weren't allowed to purchase more than two drinks at a time and they wouldn't even pour a double because that constituted two cocktails.

I still ask myself....why in the world can't they have Coachella & Stagecoach during the winter when it's only 80 or so.

We are supposed to be 100 later this week in the SFV and this is frickin November. Talk about global warming!!!

Here's the story. I had a group of guys last year I went with and we each used the binoculars. 16 oz of alcohol, so roughly 8-10 shots. Additionally, use your boots wisely. Each side of your boot can house a full size flask. Go with a plastic Disposa-Flask (cost $0.99) just in case you wanna trash the evidence. Ziploc bags full of booze also work well. They can be stuffed around your waist, in your boot or even under your cowboy hat. When all is said and done, each person in your party could probably smuggle in a 1.75L worth of liquor when tucked appropriately. Smuggling in booze is a man's job b/c the search is minimal when compared to what the ladies go thru.

That's my best advice for a cheap time once inside.

If you're going to be bringing any kind of alcohol in, make sure and bring an empty plastic bag or two. Then, once you get inside, go to the Water/Gatorade sellers and ask for some ice (tell them your friend isn't feeling well and you just want to cool them down or something along those lines). Throw the ice in the bag and keep your booze from boiling, 'cause no one likes hot alcohol!

I don't want to be a Debbie Downer but I hope the promoters don't read this stuff. If they do we're all screwed because they're going to know every trick in the book.

we.. (the fans) outnumber them....! they will never remember all of our tricks...nor do they know who we are..ha ha...besides we're just looking for a good time... they know that.....

Ummmm...They do!! But oh well...with the changing of the guards..and the masses entering..they know many will get away with it.

no, of course not.. just coming up with ways of being cleaver, sneaky, and innovative...reminding people to use good judgement, too.

Last year we hid it in the stroller... a box of margaritas (similar to a box of wine) and they didn't even check... pretty funny because my dad with us and he didn't sneak anything in and he practically got cavity searched... we all had a good laugh at his expense... btw.. the margaritas weren't too bad!

But anything we get in saves us mega money at the bar at 7,8, or even 9 dollars a drink

It's a neccessity because four drinks will damn near cost you $100 and they'll pour a thimble's worth of booze in your cup.

reading all of this made me think about my college days back in the 90's. on college football saturday's my gf (at the time) and i used to sneak in a 2 liter bottle of JB and coke . . . disguised as a baby. would wrap it in a blanket, put a hat on it, etc. of course this worked because we were a few years older than the average college student, and it wasn't the middle of summer (so it looked normal to have a baby completely wrapped up).

never got caught. oh those were the days . . .

It may require creativity of that caliber for 2009. I'm going to consume what I can prior to going in.

Actually, they're not. The ones borrowed from 29 Palms, yeah, but not the guys who go on tours and work at venues all the time.

I can't believe I'm saying this, but I agree with Cooter. As long as you don't cause any trouble (and are of age) they don't mind slackin on their duties. They know whats down and can read people pretty well. Just don't treat them like they're stupid. I mean, they have to stand at the gates all day and search people. Give 'em a break!

I don't remember...I have a ton of metal in me, so I get scanned & buzz like h*ll anyway, so I can take my mini/many metal flasks...ha ha...but I also get pretty trashed before heading in, get more drunk as I walk to gate, then get the full effect when I get inside & start dancing around...I drank a ton of frozin lemonades--$5 each & added Blue Raspberry Vodka, they were a lifesaver in the heat.

I was thinking about water bottles but I didn't think they let you bring them in.
What do they do if they catch you? Do they just throw it out and let you in or is it a hassle?

How are they about searching cars when coming in? We are camping in the forum tent area and need to know whether or not we should hide our alcohol in all of our stuff when coming in to the actual campground...?

We were pretty careful last year and hid things the best we could...but didn't get checked at all - just waved right in.

I had the beer in the cooler and the bottle of Crown in my back pack coming into Forum with all the other gear stacked on top of the cooler on the luggage cart and they just walked me over to a spot and told me to enjoy myself. So I wouldn't worry about it. Just bring red cups and don't have anything out in the open.:p

I had my beer inside my camper. I had a cooler with water and soda for the kids on a cargo tray in the front of my truck(in plain view on a front hitch) and nobody checked that. It could've been full of alcohol and nobody checked to find out. So, just like everone says, be smart and don't worry about it.

Although I might find a security guard outfit, and check your coolers for goodies to confiscate(sp)..........;)
