Ok so the long awaited day has come and gone.
So what does everyone think?? I know a few are excited about Reba, and me personally about Brad, but I thought GoldenVoice didnt do repeats??? What is up with Kenny? And where are Toby, Martina, Kevin Costner (), Jessica Simpson (), etc.

And who is POCO????? They are 7th on the list? Above Charlie Daniels Band?

And let the games begin!!!!

HonkeyTonker

if they didnt do repeats, there would be no one going. they already had all the great ones last year...

Maybe we will get longer performances?

Kymery
11-06-2008, 10:30 AM
Yeah, I am surprised there are quiet a few not on here. I am hoping they are adding some more, the side stages seem off. To me, I only want to see Charlie Daniels, Ricky Scaggs and maybe two more. Last two years I was frantic that I couldnt see them all, guess it is a blessing in disguise...carefull what I wish for?

HonkeyTonker
11-06-2008, 10:49 AM
yea... but still, party of a lifetime!

No comment on the Mane Stage acts, however I applaud them for keeping the smaller stages diverse and eclectic. I too thought that they didn't do repeat acts.

I do suppose they need to keep some for next year. All very good suggestions. Forgot all about Clay Walker!

Let them bring in a suprise repeat performer!! ALAN, GEORGE, BROOKS N DUNN, RASCAL, GARY, how about Dwight on the big stage!!! So many to see... so little time!

I saw Gary Allan at the local casino, can I just tell you that he ROCKS! Ok I am done.

If Kevin Costner ever gets signed up for Stagecoach then I won't go! Jessica Simpson would be a bathroom/booze run.

Even if he is easy on the eyes?

Oh and I am shocked Keith Urban is not on the bill! Or Martina! I would love Mark Chesnut...but saving him for WWF!!!
Tracy Lawrence, Tracy Byrd...god the list goes on ....

On KKGO this morning, Shawn Parr stated that the artists would be playing "full sets" this year. That could be one reason that there are fewer artists. As for "repeat" artists, I believe they said last year that they didn't want to repeat two years consecutively.

Kymery
11-06-2008, 11:54 AM
That would be awesome with full sets! I hated that we didn't get encores for the ones we really cheered for!

Wow..we were in two diff areas of the concert..I was 12th row and heard and saw everything..very, very displeased with that performance. I do like his work, just not at SC08.

I must say that I have to agree that Tim's performance last year was extremely disappointing. I'd never seen him before and was so excited when he came on. Boy, he really sucked!

i'm starting to hate worms. so if kenny and tim are no good, who DO you like?

Well, for me:
Gary Allan
Aaron Watson
Western Underground
Hank (either one)
George Strait
Clay Walker
Mark Chesnut
Lee Ann Womack
Chris LeDoux
Restless Heart
Lonestar
Johnny Cash
Tracey Lawrence..and on and on and on
As you can see I am more old school...dont like the "alternative country" these days.

Go to The Corral, and go to page 2 of the threads....it is under "Kenny Chesney-Lucky Old Sun".......all will be explained ;)

Are you a newbie here? We don't hate Tim (well, most of the peeps on here), we were disappointed in his SC08 performance...BIG DIFFERENCE.....same with Kenny....those of us that usually love Kenny are largely disappointed in his new NON COUNTRY album. Thats all. Sorry to use the royal "we"...I don't mean to speak for everyone, but thats the feeling I got from all the posts!!

HonkeyTonker
11-06-2008, 12:29 PM

I agree with Kymery, alot of us really do like Tim's work, but after his performance, if you can call it that, we are just sore. That was one of a few acts i really cared about last year and he cheated me big time!!! Especially as the closing act for the weekend.

I will stop there cuz it can get ugly and hopefully this will not turn into another Tim bashing! We already did that.

What is the deal with SD country stations anyways?? They are TERRIBLE!!! I drove up the 5 to NorCal last week and every 2 numbers on the dial there was a country station and most were AWESOME!! (I know SD doesn't have huge country crowd, just that our 2 stations are clones of each other, would like some VARIETY!!)

i just moved down here from OC and in OC we had go country. i liked go country... they were pretty good, but played a lot of the same stuff. i could only listen for like one week out of the month cause i'd get over the same stuff. my ipod has become my bff down here in SD.

I'm liking the lineup - but noticed that (for me) there aren't quite AS MANY acts that I know - compared to SC07 and SC08. Still TERRIBLY excited about SC09!! If they are all full sets - will still be a full and complete show!

Loving that Brad is going to be there! Haven't heard Kenny's new CD, but I'm SURE he'll sing some older stuff! IHML and I were talking about Kid Rock - we like him and all...but that close to the top of a Country Lineup? hhhmmmm.....interesting...

And...I guess I've been away from these boards too long - Kevin Costner???! I had to google "Kevin Costner Country music" to see if it was THAT Kevin Costner?! Had no clue he was goin' country!

Let's just get this outta the way. I totally enjoyed Tim McGraw last year. I could really not care less if a performer "interacts" with fans. He actually kinda won me over some, because I had never seen him live. He is a soulful performer.

On to other matters:
Last year, one of the main reasons I went to SC08 was Dwight Yoakam. So there I sat in my reserved VIP seating. . . . I knew what time Dwight was playing, and I was "all jacked up". . . . what I got - was RASCAL FLATS.

OK, sharp lesson learned. . . great acts are relegated to the side-stages. George Jones was everything I hoped he would be - although in a tent well away from the "Mane Stage". . .

I am really happy to see Brad Paisley in the lineup, but I was REALLY hoping for additional big acts; hoping that Stagecoach was gathering steam - that ALL generations of country would consider this a premiere, marquee-type, annual event for the West.

Good God, spare me Kevin Costner, Jessica Simpson - thanks for that small favor.

We really need more, bigger and better headliners. I fully expect an additional day to be added to the ticket, but I'm hoping for some serious HEAVY-HITTERS. . . . and better parking security. . . AND A TRAM OR SOMETHING from the distant camping areas . . . and at least a CHANCE at Gold Circle. . . anyways, see yall at the Show.

The SC guy on go country this morning pretty much swore up and down that there wouldn't be another day added. And I believe him. Lasy year was a fluke solely because of the Eagles. Also... we've learned that same acts do not appear two years in a row. So the only reason you don't see Carrie is cuz she was just here. Frankly, we're lucky to be seeing Miranda and Kenny again this soon. That Kenny is a work-aholic so he's a sure thing. Have there been ANY other repeaters??? Someone out here will keep me honset.

Sorry I have been away all day but I had things to do outside of my comp. :( It was so hard to leave when all the good stuff started to be talked about..such like this!!

THEY SHOULD have 3-days every year. It brings more of a crowd AND one more day is one more day of beer being bought, souv. being bought, and not to mention a whole other day to charge ppl. I am surprised SC doesn't think about this. Money will come and go, so we are not worried about paying another day so bring the 3rd day!!! Plus it makes a better weekend then just 2 days:eek:! Why bring repeats back so quickly anyway, there are so many other ppl then Kenny! Toby, Blake Shelton, Little Texas, Jack Ingram, Phil Vassar, etc. But if ppl want Kenny then I will be quiet

goldenvoice can only pick from acts that are touring/available in the area at the time the event happens. they can't demand that a performer play the show if said performer is across the world or taking a break from the industry. why do people think these things are so easy to organize???

I know I am a big fan; sorry if it sounds bias, but what about the famous red head? Everybody I know said she was too big and may not come! And she's coming! I think she is a big gun:o lol

I dont love "take another puff of ur joint Timmy"..
I'd rather have wasted Kenny.

People love to complain.. if its too expensive or you dont like the line up.. you still have time to change ur mind!! Stagecoach will go on without u!

goldenvoice can only pick from acts that are touring/available in the area at the time the event happens. they can't demand that a performer play the show if said performer is across the world or taking a break from the industry. why do people think these things are so easy to organize???

I thought Tim flew in just for Stagecoach.....thats the impression I got from him....they don't need their whole stage set-up and guitars travel easy....

I have a great idea.....
The red cups should by a mobile at the La Quinta ridge next to the tent area of stagecoach. It is probably cheap since the water issues and they have fixed that problem now any way...
Rent it out during coachella and the rest of season. Then you can all stay there instead..
And even make a buck to help with cost of stagecoach...
Kymery I put you in charge of booking it.I'll help with the real estate part of the deal...

Interesting how a country/rock fan doesn't know who Poco is.
POCO is THE seminal country/rock band....They were the innovators of blending country music with rock.Richie Furay,Rusty Young,Jim Messina,Randy Meisner and George Grantham formed POCO in 1968....Some of the names sound Familar?
Furay and Messina came out of The Buffalo Springfield...Young,Meisner and Grantham came out of bands from Colorado ...When Mesiner left Poco to join The Eagles....a guy named Timothy B Schmit(know him?} took his place and stayed in Poco for seven years....replacing Meisner in The Eagles in 1977.
Jim Messina went on to form Loggins and Messina(heard of them?)
POCO'S album "Legend'' was certified gold in 1979 some of the hits off that album were 'Crazy Love' and In 'The Heart of The Night'.
In 1989 the orginial members got together again and recorded an album,'Legacy' which also went gold, some of the hits off that album were 'Call it love' and 'Nothing to Hide' .Nothing to Hide featured Randy Meisner on lead vocals.
POCO still tours and performs over 45/55 shows per year.
Rusty Young,Paul Cotton{who replaced Messina in 1970] Jack Sundrud and George Lawrence are the members of Poco.Richie Furay performs with Poco a few times a year, along touring with his own band...The Richie Furay Band.
This will be the first time since 1990,that most of the original members will be performing together.Unfortunatley orginial member, drummer George Grantham suffered a serious stroke while performing with Poco in 2004,and can no longer perform.George Lawrence has taken his place in the band...Hope you know a little bit about POCO now

The guy with the long hair playing the bass in the early 70's video is Timothy B Schmit, who went on to join The Eagles.
Poco was a major influence on The Eagles...unfortunatley due to more management and some bad breaks Poco never acheived the mega success of The Eagles. But Poco has a major hard core fan base scattered world wide.Go to http://www.poconut.com/ probably the most interactive fan/band base site on the internet.

I'm in the early 50's.Just trying to educate the youngsters...Trying to teach them that the fore fathers of country/rock were Poco, not bands such as The Eagles and America. Poco's influence is heard in bands such as Little Texas,Lonestar, and just about all of the current Nashville lineup.

Eventually, his roomate (and best friend) married Olivia Newton John whom they met on the set of Xanadu
