Rose

07 - Kenny brought out Uncle Kracker
08 - Big & Rich brought out Cowboy Troy
09 - I hope Miranda Lambert brings out Blake Shelton!!! or Reba brings out Kelly Clarkson.

Who do you wish for as a special guest?

Kymery

oh forbid we get Uncle Kracker again! and GOD NOOO on B&R or Cowboy Troy.

Now Blake!! I am all for that...they are touring together anyway!! Surprised he is not on the venue!

I am all for Blake. Hopefully Reba brings Kelly. Also, Reba may sing with Hillary from Lady A. She is the daughter of Linda Davis (buddies of Reba's) I guess Lady A opens for Reba and sings Does He Love You with McEntire

Just think about it.....wasn't Uncle Kracker originally with Kid Rock??? Is this going to be akward for them, like running into your old boyfriend with his new gf??? LOL!!! Or even worse, will UK make cameos at BOTH KC and KR sets!!! We know UK is available..... YIKES!!

GSF - don't hate me, but if Kelly comes out and sings that f'in song with Reba, I'll crawl under my VIP camping seat and puke. I don't know why but I hate that version of that song. Now, Hillary is a different story!!! = ) Blake would rock.

Maybe George will come out and do Shift Work??!! :D Dude!! Reba AND George??? GSF we'd have to carry you home!

Blake would be AWESOME! :) Lovin' him...

I didn't mind Cowboy Troy too much - I just think they did it all wrong. They should've brought him out during - I think it's "Rollin'" - and then let him do a few songs while BandR took a break... Troy's set was way too long...

Off topic (kinda)...tonight I saw Madonna at Dodger Stadium. Her "special guests" were Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake.

I think Kid Rock should really bring out Hank Williams Jr. Please not just for one song but a whole very special set. I know I'm just dreaming or really super tired right now. BUT...

I was there with Kenny and it was packed on the stage when he was at stagecoach....
He was also so gracious with all his fans using there cameras to take photos and giving them back to them...
Too bad ya missed it with that bathroom run.Yet after lots of red cups those runs are needed......

Was that his most recent tour??? I saw him in June, I think it was, and it was an AWESOME SHOW!! I had some issues with his song selection ( I HATE Big Star and Live those songs again) but thats just me nitpicking. Regardless, Kenny always delivers as far as performance goes, in my book. Hell, he could get up there and sing the yellow pages and I'd still go! :p One of the reasons I did NOT want him at SC09 is cuz I like it better when he has his own show, and when he does SC he doesn't come down to SD.:( But that still doesn't change my opinion of his new CD.....good for a Jimmy Buffet CD, but it ain't country.....

My opinion:

Kenny in '07 > Tim McGraw in '08

Personally thought Kenny was great - I think was my first time seeing him... It was late after a long first day at Stagecoach - but I think it helped that the cute kids in front of us loved Kenny and were singing along. Loved that I was seeing a 7 year old (around that) girl sing "She thinks my tractor's sexy...." haha

Kenny in '07 was a highlight while Tim in '08 was a disappointment.

KL - I think you really tapped into what makes a concert or artist appear better or worse. It's the whole experience. If the crowd that you are surrounded by is having one heck of a good time well then...

I hate to say this but the worst concert I've ever been to was Jethro Tull and that's just because one of the couples I went with fought the whole entire time and I could not wait to leave.

yea I heard about that to. My wife called me and told me that he acted like he didn't even know he was going to play and didn't even know what stagecoach was all about. Paul even asked him if he was going to be playing his new stuff or old and then brad asked him "when is it?" To make a long story short he told the audience that he will be playing his new songs cause he will be in the middle of his new tour.

She does have that Duets album and her latest hot single is "Every Other Weekend" with Kenny. I would say they would do that song but she performs the day before him. Don't think he will come a day early to just sing that one song. So you never know!!

For those of you who remember, I was Loud and Proud of my status as a Mafia Soldier and in defense of my boys Big & Rich, Cowboy Troy and Two Foot Fred (you don't seem to mind our gal Gretchen). I was just about the only one around here looking forward to their show. As a matter of fact, I made the decision to attend the festival BECAUSE of them. My mom said not to tell my stepsister that she actually liked his new "All Summer Long" song (she refused to buy her a Kid Rock CD as a gift a few years back because she didn't like him) - but I reminded her that she liked the "Cowboy" song! I think that most folks have the impression of Kid Rock from when he first came out and say "No Way!". Then they hear him now, and his latest music and are surprised. It just seems evident to me that he matured. He grew up and it shows. Some of the earliest stuff is too much for even me, but he's definitely getting better with age!:p

yea i have this preconception of kid rock which is why i hate him. maybe ill listen to a couple other songs and re-evaluate. but all summer long was WAY killed by 105.1. the radio completely killed it and for that reason i dislike it

I saw Kid opening for Aerosmith YEARS ago and he put on one helluva show! I was really excited to see him on the bill for this year. And, I'll say it, I've been a fan of his since he came out. Both of our music tastes have matured together and I'm loving what he's doing now as well as his previous work.

About the Special Guest, I'm with Lisa; as long as Cowboy Troy doesn't make an appearance, I'll be happy with whoever graces the stage.

Do you mean they just over-played it? That can RUIN a song for me....or it can make it grow on me....haha. Kinda depends.

Honestly - it was like that for me at first with....please no one attack me, haha - "Chicken Fried!" They are soooooooooo over playing it - but I love it! At first I was annoyed that every single time I turned on the radio I heard it... But now I'm loving it and can't wait to see them at SC! :D

Good to hear more people are open to Kid Rock, I thought I was the only one excited to see him. I also saw him at the Kenny concert this summer and really really liked him. I was kinda drawn to him - I was surprised and little freaked that I was  Wasn't thrilled when Extremely drunk Uncle Kracker was there. I really like Kid Rock's new cd. I am not a fan of his other stuff. So for those who haven't heard it, give it a try.

Clearly... maturity is evident... as demonstrated by the poignant lyric:

I want to get you stoned
I don't want to be your friend
I want to f**k you like I'm never gonna see you again

.... love that song. :D i know we went thru this in another thread (or maybe it was this one 3 pages back!) but i'm SO curious how he's going to arrange his set with all the "filth-flarn-filth" he's got to work around. i'd be perfectly okay with it but i don't know about the general population. ...that reminds me... i wonder if there was ever any backlash to Shelby Lynne for her rant last year.

Nope, your not the only one! I've been a huge fan of his for a long time, and can't wait to see him!! I love his new CD. As for special guest, maybe he'll bring out Gretchen Wilson, although she played SC last year, would still be cool tho.

Kid does 'Picture' with Sheryl and Gretchen. He also does numerous songs with Hank Jr. and with Uncle Kracker. (And no it won't be awkward for them to be in the same place. They are still the best of friends since Kracker left Kid & Twisted Brown Trucker to go solo.)

Kenny does a kick-butt version of 'Hurt So Good' with Gretchen:D, his duet with Uncle Kracker and some stuff with Kid.

Hank Jr. does a bang up job on 'I'm Still A Guy' with Brad.

Brad's great with everyone and has his recent song with Keith Urban.

Miranda and Blake are great together.

Reba does awesome with anyone.

Here's the kicker. I'm shocked that none of you have mentioned it.

Kid has been on tour with Rev Run and....are you ready for it.....Lynyrd Skynyrd. The Rock-N-Roll Revival Tour.

Now, they would be a killer surprise guest!:p:cool:

Reverend Run from Run DMC - back in the 80's, and Peter Wolf from J. Geils Band.

J. Geils Band had the song 'Angel Is A Centerfold' if that helps and Run DMC are best known for 'Tricky', 'Like That', and 'Walk This Way' with Aerosmith.

Kymery just go to Rhapsody and listen to 'Rock 'N' Roll Jesus'. That will give you a good idea of what to expect from Kid at SC. Also check out 'Bawitdaba' and 'Cowboy' from 'Devil Without A Cause'. Those are staples of his live show.

I don't know if they'd bring Rev Run out at a Country Music festival. (I would love it, but I suspect I'm in the minority there!) Lynyrd Skynyrd would be way cool. I love Southern Rock and the chance to hear 'Sweet Home Alabama' live would be the topper to my weekend!

Don't worry - I'll be there with you tgcali - enjoying Kid Rock as well! My mom said not to tell my stepsister that she actually liked his new "All Summer Long" song (she refused to buy her a Kid Rock CD as a gift a few years back because she didn't like him) - but I reminded her that she liked the "Cowboy" song! She said "um....that's him?" YES! I believe my mom is a closet Kid Rock fan! Stagecoach will bring her out. :)

01-04-2009, 08:08 PM
so i've thought about all the possible guests each of the main acts could have onstage with them (not saying these are who I'D LIKE to see with them, just saying these are the possibilities):

Brad Paisley:
- Keith Urban ("Start a Band".....i'd LOVE THAT)
- Dolly Parton ("When I get where I'm Going"...don't care for Dolly, but love that song)

Reba McEntire:
- Justin Timberlake ("The Only Promise that Remains")
- Kelly Clarkson ("Because of You")
- maybe Brooks & Dunn......???? i just know they team up on a few songs
- Kenny Chesney ("Every other Weekend".....and i mean how easy would that be to have him with her, he's already scheduled to play there that weekend)

Miranda Lambert:
- Blake Shelton

Kenny Chesney:
- Kid Rock (again, that'd be easy seeing as Kid is already gonna be there)
- Uncle Kracker
- that guy who sings with Kenny on "Down the Road"...idk his name off the top of my head, but he is apparently popular in the country music world

i can't think of who all else is playing there but i'm sure i'll come up with more......

if you leave before Kid Rock & Kenny on Sunday then there will be less traffic for me to fight later on.

GSF,

The vast majority of Kid's older stuff that you're probably thinking of is not appropriate for this venue. I expect to hear a great deal more of the last album, plus the songs sprinkled on the older albums that would be appropriate.

I don't expect Kid Rock to put on a G or even a strictly PG performance. He's always been one to pretty much do whatever he was told NOT to, but it's attempting career suicide to get up on a stage in front of an audience of families with children and sing songs like 'Sugar', 'So Hott' or 'Paid'. Kid Rock may be a lot of things, but a stupid business man isn't one of them.

If you haven't already, give 'Rock N Roll Jesus' a listen. If you have already and you just don't like him, go get your drink refilled. All I'm trying to say is you may very well be pleasantly surprised.:p

Cocky was a real good album but I can't listen to the early stuff. I can't get on board with white people rapping or wearing corn rows.

And know, and when they try to Jump, well that just really gets me! hahaha;):D

I am soooo amped that Zac Brown Band is going to be there! This is going to be my first year going so I don't have anything to compare it to but the lineup looks sweet to me! I look at it as it's just an entire weekend of good music and partying!!! Good lord am I going to get myself into trouble...

Don't worry about it, we SC veterans are good at hiding the evidence.....and we always take care of our forum brothers & sisters. Then again, we're in trouble ourselves so.....

Glad you're joining us. You'll have a blast!
