so sick of this campaign and election coverage...on and on and on. yes I will drop my ballot off today, then heading out tonight with some friends to tie one on, avoid the coverage and then depending on the outcome, may lock myself in a cave for the next four years. there...no one will know how I voted.

I tried to go early, voting was at my kids high school, got there to drop them at 7:15 and the line was around the corner already and no parking...per news they said to wait till 10, so that is when I went back, not too bad, I don't think a 1 hour wait is a problem (now, my back did!!). Although the snot lady ahead of me seemed to think so, kept comparing to "last time at Harada Elementary" etc etc...shut up lady and be happy you have the right to even vote.

I heard on the news this a.m.: People are expecting a lot from him and that after two months many will be dissapointed that nothing has "changed" as promised. It isn't HIM that initiates, decides etc what goes on, there is much more to it.
People blame Bush, but we gotta go back to when we were attacked...no matter what president, no matter Rep or Dem, we would be in war, pricing would fall, it is the norm for the world. It is history repeating itself as it always will. It isn't the one person "Bush" or whomever would of been president, it is all the people in the White House whom make decisions. I feel that had Gore won the last election, we would still be in a war, housing would of slumped, etc. Sure maybe a bit different in handling, as everyone is different, but I think we would still be here. It isn't Bush or whomever would of been president's fault we were attacked in New York etc!
I, and this is just MY opinion, that Obama won on a Popular Vote, not an experienced vote. By this I mean, you hear about all the African Americans who came out and voted for the first time in their lives....they wanted to make history, and that they did.
The quotes I kept hearing on the news this am was: Now my children can wake up and see that they can do anything being African American, we have come a long way and now my child knows they can even run for President.
This is AWESOME and I am excited for that...BUT...........That's not what this election was for...the election if for someone who can run a Country, not make history in being the first in something.
Ok...DONT ATTACK ME.

Does anyone else find it annoying and wrong that they announce who won while POLLS ARE STILL OPEN?!?!? I was in a bar and it was announced at 7:54PM...CA polls were still open, not to mention Hawaii and Alaska...so basically all those people in line, literally their vote doesn't count or I should say matter. I would find that very discouraging.....I know that there are still props to vote on but I know people who this was the first time in their ENTIRE life they voted (and they are in their 30s) and they specifically chose this year to vote because of the presidential race. And the race was announced as won before they even cast their vote! I thought they (the stupid media) learned their lesson after the Gore/Bush disaster...but guess not....lucky for them it was not a close race otherwise it could have got REAL UGLY...
PS I was in that bar grabbing a beer before heading into the Madonna concert.....lets just say it was surreal being at a Madonna show on the night of a very historical election and lets just say she was overjoyed at the outcome. If it had been the other way around, it would have been a very different show...yikes!

I was hugely disapointed in her song selection. As always her show is visually stunning, but I really couldn't get into it because the songs were her new stuff or too obscure. Also, the venue where she performed (Petco Park) really sucks acoustically, the echo was real bad, hopefully your venue is better. AND they stopped selling beer 30min after the start of the show....so I got 1 beer...that did not help..LOL!!! Lucky for me the ticket was free.

Seriously. I hate all the election coverage and election polls, just give us the final tally.....glad I was not able to see most of it....until the announcement when the bar errupted in cheers and applause.

it is just fact that the west coast is a democratic powerhouse. they probably based all results on exit polling, not on official numbers. before the election even began it was a sure thing that ca's 55 electoral votes would go blue.
i think it's time to get rid of the electoral college. it is so outdated and pointless nowadays. let the popular vote decide and people's votes actually will count. if you are voting for a republican presidential candidate in ca your vote doesn't count towards anything.

Being in the IE, there is plenty of Red, everyone I talked to, listened to etc, voted that way, just it goes by "area" persay...

a little discussion once in awhile doesn't hurt, it would make this place a little less boring if there were some actual debates on random topics once in awhile. people here seem to take things way too personally and way too seriously. otherwise all there is on the board is "i like red cups", "i like country music", "i like to drink". oh so stimulating...why is everyone here so afraid to have differing views and to discuss them??? afraid you might get your feelings hurt on an internet message board? i didn't think that was possible.

Cooter.. I agree.. sometimes its fun, and good, to get "spirited" about an issue or debate, and share thoughts. I am in agreement that we can carry on about nothing, including me. We are a mixture of lots of personalities and really do care about eachother. However, I have also witnessed nastiness, and cruelty that is hurtful....and not spirited. It would be nice to be able to post an opinion, concern, fear, or a thought that may not be mainstream, but yet know there would not be a backlash of attacks afterward, and maybe get a different perspective.

Well, that depends on if you have seats that you paid dearly for or not..or if you cant walk anymore after three days, or have a handicap..etc etc.
Although it is awesome to have the option, it just isnt that easy for many people, and you miss out on some forsaking others...the price we have to pay I guess...comes on the menu.
