Met with the good Folks at Golden Voice about the 2009 contest
First Class, The Best, Make em happy, Were the instructions
I was really impressed once again that GV REALLY cares that you have a
quality experience even if that costs them money.

I am very happy to be a part of this for the third year

We are expanding the contest in 2009
If you think cooking and enjoying the crowd sounds like fun
drop me a note We will be doing classes in BBQ to develop new teams

You can see Stagecoach from the inside

How to make me happy at Stagecoach 09 BBQ Contest...

Please provide a hand washing station in the BBQ area.
Please provide a tent with benches in the BBQ area. Maybe that could be the central location and all of the BBQ booths could surround the tent so we can sit and eat.

Make me a judge. :D

When do the classes happen? It sounds like a good idea for Friday night or at a non music time. Maybe in the morning. I would be willing to apprentice on yours or any team to learn but don't want to take away from the family/music time.

The BBQ Classes will be months ahead of the Cook Off

You are gonna have to give me some info on that! I really would love to compete. Just commiting is my problem...and the time it takes.

Hmmm...maybe I will practice again this weekend. I got my dads smoker, it is an electric one. Works pretty good! I made my pulled pork AND YUMMMMMMY!!!!!:D :D :D

When and where will the classes be? Also do you need to be in the competition to go to the classes? Cost? Kymery went with the electric smokerbecause it resembles a red cup. I started with the electric for smoking albacore. When It died I swapped to charcoal/wood. I'm thinking of buying a couple sheets of stainless steel and making a custom bbq/smoker.

I enjoyed the BBQ last year. I think there were not many drink stations near the BBQ last year and a couple more would have been good.

Thom
11-06-2008, 11:39 PM
We have more drink stations, Adult and otherwise lined up for 09
Expanded contest with more prize money
11 teams in 07
38 teams in 08
Goal of 55 teams in 09
This would be the largest BBQ Cook Off ever on the West Coast

thom - i wanna make sure i know where this thing is cuz i'm not sure if i was in the right spot last year. is it WAY off to the side.. like if i were standing on the stage, looking over my left shoulder straight out? i remember seeing some fun team names that just cracked me up. a couple of really racey ones (can you recall them?). but i didn't notice anything organized about a contest. what/when should we look for this year?

Kymery
11-07-2008, 08:46 AM
Abra, that is where we were, right where you explain...I am not sure if we got there late, but no one was "testing". We ended up buying some ribs and eating in a frantic to get to our seats. Pain in the hootchi standing, holding a drink and trying to eat sloppy ribs.!! Need more seats in the open area between booths.

I'll be planning on an early BBQ lunch on Saturday to be sure I get to try more than I did last year! :)

GOOOOOOD stuff - but I wanted to try more - but like IHML said, a bunch of places were sold out! (But sounds like they're planning ahead and hopefully that won't happen again in 09!)

Yes everything bbq...
The Babes at the river is great and Big mommas soul food in Cat city on 111 is one of the best BBQ in the desert.Ask for the sauce on the side or you will be wiping your face and hands forever....
I hope they open the one here soon.It almost seems as if they stopped since the economy took a turn.We went to the hogs breath last Saturday and then The Desert Sage in old town and both had no one in there it has been dead out here....
Just wondering if they are coming back this season since the Canadian dollar is so week now.
