Just got settled in, and wow. Sure its hot and bugs, but I have like 10 dirt roads I can take from my house if there is any traffic at all. I love it out here, no drama, no BS, just everyday life and nice people :P

HEY...YOU GET INTERNET SERVICE IN H E L L ? ?

Hahah..heat and bugs. You can have em.

I remember a race we took our boys to out in Surprise and another in Goodyear area..talk about crickets everywhere.

My son comes off the track saying something is in his boot, ewwwww, it was a crushed cricket. Didnt give him any good luck, his steering stem broke in mid air that weekend!

Hodgee...glad you are enjoying it and I bet your jeep loves those dirt roads too!

Hodgee - Lady A was in Queen Creek on Thursday... did you happen to make it out to see them? that venue looked real small too. Just saw em in Vegas last night and they were awesome! It was a 500 seat theater in the Green Valley Ranch. Chris Young was there too. And a new guy named Matt Stillwell who sings Shine... that guy was a KICK!

I've been slacking on my SC board updates!

Glad to hear you're enjoying it there Hodgee!!! We do miss tailgatin' with ya already tho!

Jealous you got to meet Jason! Love that whole CD of his - wishing I'd have watched him at SC last year instead of drinkin' in the parking lot (that was year 1 - before we realized that the campgrounds were the place to be!) :)

Well, come to find out, one of my room mates is a real piece of shi*t! I cant have any people over, she keeps the dang house at 76 degrees at all times, and she eats all my food. Coming back on friday/ saturday. I love it out here, dont get me wrong. O and they told me I was going to work for the union as a pipefitter.... Ends up Im doing duct insulation, needless to say, Im not happy. Maybe the service has a spot for me ;)

Kymery
09-23-2008, 04:15 PM
Awe man...tell the truth..you just miss us! (ok...meeeee)

You can get a MALE roomie?? Put a lock on your food, and get a small fridge for our room (my son had to do that) Plumbing? Talk to my son??

Anyway, what happened to enforcement?

festivalfan
09-23-2008, 05:29 PM
hey hodgee.... remember you can always move back to california...you have friends and family. but here's a thought. check out the law inforcement agencies in your area. see if you'd be interested.(state, local and highway) What about the forest service...yes forest in AZ....Flagstaff. look at city and state jobs, including colleges and universities....every thing from technical to facilities to trades, including plumbing. you have experience. those jobs are less impacted in AZ than California and the benefits are good.
I think you need to dump the psycho room mate...or yes get your own fridge and a "food locker". ask around. but if you do change your mind.... come on back!

hodgee5
09-23-2008, 05:29 PM
had to make some money somehow, so I got caught up in the whole insulation thing... saturday I talk to the navy recruiter, hoping to get to bootcamp in january, so Im back of SC 09 :)

haha ya... only time will tell... its the next 4 years, but paid medical and dental. plus 3 square meals a day, pay per month, living and food money. Its looking better and better when I think about it. I think it will be better than "itchy money" aka fiberglass insulation intallation.

I know tons of people in and out of the military. One of my uncles couldn't stand retiring and signed up as a civillian still working with the Army. I work with a guy who retired after 20 years in the Navy. Nice thing is that you have a GREAT pension and benefits and then your still young enough to have a second career afterward with hopefully another pension and benefits. My best friends son is currently in the Marines stationed up in Washington State as a firefighter and only has another 4 years to go to retirement and he LOVES it. My dad was in the Army core of engineers in Germany and he never stopped talking about it (good memories) when I was a kid.

Just stay safe Hodgee5. We all pray for our military and thank them for fighting for our freedoms.

Its weird how how many things come into perspective after you swear in. You feel proud about so much, and people come up and actually thank you for what you re doing. Little things like the lyrics of a song, or a flag flying. Its just... intense. Maybe not everyone feels like this, but I wish they could.

hodgee I DO know the feeling. I come from military family...I salute our flag...have one flying on my home every day of the year. Patriotic songs make me tear up, and fyi.. men in uniform make me weak in the knees! I am so proud of our soldiers, and we are so proud of you!!!!

Hodgee, I am very honored to know another brave soul. Godspeed.

Have you guys heard of "Pray for Peace" (at Noon).
A few weeks back on an episode of Saving Grace, it was mentioned. My husband remembered this was done during WWII to pray for the end of the war.

So my alarm goes off everyday at noon now.

Not to hi-jack but as a gesture to brave souls like hodgee. We like to go out to breakfast on weekends. If I see someone from the military on leave(they're usually easy to spot) I like to pick up their tab if I can. It might cost you $20 but we all know what they pay these guys and what they do for us.

nice gesture, RR...betcha that gesture will catch on with others. I have a similiar story. My 21 yr old son is in the police academy,we are at the dry cleaners twice a week dropping off and picking up uniforms. On one occasion, a young army soldier was also picking up his freshly cleaned uniform to wear to an upcoming wedding. The "good morning ma'am" melted me...I had to do it.... I paid for his dry cleaning too. The sincere thank you from him stayed with me all day. It was a great feeling.
