Does anyone know when they announce the 2009 dates? I am from Canada and really want to start making plans to attend next year.

Welcome Ichaput!!!

Stagecoach will be the first weekend in May. It follows the Coachella festival. Now the big debate: will it be 2 days like the first year or 3 days like this year???

Well, it will probably be in November when the tickets go on sale, but it is always that first weekend in May, and always the weekend that follows Coachella festival since it is all ready set up.

2007 was 5/5 - 5/6
2008 was 5/2 - 5/4

geez... now I am still confused about the dates... we are going to rent and RV and now will wonder if the festival is 2 or 3 days. Oh well, either way I guess we will rent it from Thursday night to Monday morning.
Can anyone recommend a RV rental place?

Either way..
You would want to plan three days and come for the pre party...
Welcome Ichaaput....
I also heard last week that Coachella was amazing.I might do both this year also....

Yes.... Many come in for the week and enjoy the hotels and great entertainment and dining this area of the desert has to offer.
Lots to do and more then just kicking around the grounds in the sand.

Hope you try and come out for both .:)

Also heard this confirmation on the radio this morning on KPALM ......
Ummmmm Is this going to be the same as last year..???
Wonder if going this way till the surprise of a third day made lots more money and kept the excitement going , and that it may just happen again this year?
Stay tuned only time will tell....As the stagecoach turns..lol:D

"Stagecoach to return to two-day schedule

By Bruce Fessier • August 28, 2008

The Stagecoach Country Music Festival in Indio will return to being a two-day festival in 2009 after breaking attendance records over three days in May.

Stagecoach founder Paul Tollett of the Los Angeles-based Goldenvoice promoters said the reduction in size of what was becoming one of the most significant country music festivals in the nation had nothing to do with the declining economy.

“It’s a two-day festival,” Tollett said. “Last year The Eagles popped up, so that was just an anomaly. California’s coolest band pops up and you grab it.”

Dates for the third annual festival haven’t been announced, but it’s traditionally held around the first weekend in May, one week after the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival at the Empire Polo Club in Indio.

Stagecoach added to its unique diversity last year when Goldenvoice built a whole roots-rock day around The Eagles with John Fogerty, Glen Campbell, Shelby Lynne and Mike Ness.

Tollett said there will be more country rock in 2009.

“It’s going to be kind of similar, just over the two days,” he said.

He’s now “knee deep” in booking bands for both Stagecoach and Coachella, he said after staging the All Points West festival in New Jersey this month with Radiohead as a headliner.

Goldenvoice has been asking for feedback from newsletter subscribers on last year’s Stagecoach. Tollett is seeking a major headliner for Coachella, but not because he’s planning a big 10th anniversary event.

“I’m not an anniversary/birthday kind of guy,” he said. “I just want a great show. But, I’m very pro-Coachella, so I want to come up with a nice lineup.”

I would have to agree. But I like to think that they work out all the kinks at Coachella... and then we have a smoothe running operation by SC. ;)

If you had to work with the folks that do both events
BURN OUT is what we get at SC Coachella is a huge show
and the kids are rude with the workers So it takes a day
of being nice with them to get em to relax and enjoy the festival
Besides better odds of cooler weather mid April vs. early May

As I was reading this post,, and before I saw this one...this exactly went through my mind. They are tired and irritated that they have to put up with a bunch of partying in people...no matter what venue comes first...the 2nd ones get the "last nerves" of the employees. I do my best to thank all of them (well not the guys who couldn't park all our RV's properly) but I did make sure I let them know I appreciated all their work. One smile and a thank you goes a long way.

I do agree, I would like it before Coachella.
