I know everyone is so busy, especially for this weekend, so wanted to let everyone know today, that I hope they have a wonderful and safe 4th, as well as the weekend!

We are not doing much, rented a boat for the day, fishing at Diamond Valley Lake in Hemet area...then in our pool all the other days, KIDS FREE!! whooo hooo

I've always been afraid of fireworks. The flag will be up. We have NO plans.

Our BBQ isn't even set up. As I said b4 in another thread I really need to get my landscaping done. It's kinda like the house got built and we are settled in, but we keep getting to busy or too hot and the outside keeps getting put off. Oh well, soon I hope.

nothing good goes on in newport on the 4th :), it's all trouble. we may be getting out of newport for the first time in many years.

we are where the red pin is. we have thousands of revelers walking down the hill to the peninsula each 4th, so it is constant craziness. right at the bottom of the hill is where newport pd has their command center, so we get to see some good stuff!

my dad is bringing his boat down to the harbor, though, so we may stop by and hang out before the rowdiness begins, then head out. hanging out on the water with a bunch of drunk people cannot be fun when you have a 2 1/2 year old and a pregnant wife. last year he had something like 50 people on his boat with another 3 or 4 boats rafted up. one of my friends even got a speeding ticket for going to fast in the dinghy while going to pick some people up from lido isle., whoops.

for fireworks we may head out to riverside. my friend, who just happens to run the coachella/stagecoach festivals :), has a yearly block party out at his place. never been out there and could be fun. of course, we may just end up at the bluffs for the newport display...or huntington pier...who knows, way too many options!

The rule-of-thumb on fireworks: If it blows your thumb off, it's probly not legal. :eek:

We are being lazy. Just hanging at home and watching the fireworks from the front deck. We are lucky we can easily see the fireworks at San Clemente pier as well as the Dana Point fireworks and many others. With the 2 girls it is easier to stay at home and watch from here. Yep, know the area very well, remember I was born there and went to NB Elem, grad from HB! I have spent many a 4th down there, a few years back we had to park up the hill in Costa Misery and walk down that hill, had the cooler on a skateboard to help out. Well the daughter is 19 now..so on her own, I have taken her down there during the 4th when she was about 10, so she knows the caos. She is taking two bikes, going her her friends, then riding from there into newport..so not driving..phew!

Coming into Riverside? Stop by! I am next door! Take a dip in the pool...

Alright, I'll take my Dodger flag down and put up the red, white and blue! I'm heading out to St. George, Utah to visit my folks....gonna be HOT!! Of course, I'm stopping off in Vegas tonight. Wish me luck!
