How do I clear a thread?

I am trying to figure out how to clear a post off of the "new posts" list.

Some of the threads I don't want or need to open, just not interested, and they will just stay on the list when I click new posts, unless I open to view, then they won't show up again until some one posts on it again, then back to square one, and that is soooo much work to click on each one I don't want to open, showing it viewed when I didn't... anyway..so is there a way to make them not show? Any suggestions..or do I just keep up what I am doing to clear it off over and over..?

I just found under quick links it says "mark forums read" but that does everything I think..so if it is a busy day, I can go over the ones I want, then go to that and clear the rest. Hmmmm...

exactly. you can mark forums read, but it does mark them all until the next new post comes after.
