I like your attitude. Many people "know" many people with status, and I dont have the nerve to ask any of them for anything. My hubby gets comp stuff to Staples and he just has to ask, but we are just embarrased to...eveyrone and their mom's always ask for things from these type of people..I give them respect, dont ask, and dont brag that we "know" them. BUT..I will go with you to ask Clooney anything:D

Charlie Gives Gretchen Her Diploma!!
LEBANON — The applause was no louder for Gretchen Wilson than for anyone else.
As 90 adults in caps and gowns filed into the sanctuary of First Baptist Church, the people who packed the pews quickly came to their feet, yelling and cheering a GED graduating class that covered ages 18 to 75.
While “Pomp and Circumstance” played, the country star behind the “Redneck Woman” craze slipped into the line behind Victoria Wharton. Wilson, 34, took her place in a pew and delivered no speech — she did that last year — though camera crews were nearby.
http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y163/ammolaura/gretchen_wilson.jpg
“She doesn’t want to diminish the accomplishments of the others,” said Bernadine Nelson, director of the Adult Learning Center of Wilson County, where they all earned their General Educational Development diplomas.
There were differences in the center’s graduation ceremony this year. The commencement speaker was music legend Charlie Daniels. He led the group in “My Country ’Tis of Thee” and shook the hands of graduates as they walked across the stage to get their diplomas.
Eventually, the “W” names were called, and he handed a certificate to his friend, Gretchen Frances Wilson.
Wilson, who dropped out of school in ninth grade, passed the GED exam in April. She studied and tested while touring and recording her fourth album.
“I’m proud of her because she went through the turmoil of getting the diploma at this busy time of her life,” Daniels had said before the ceremony. “It’s a sign of character to do something because you want to, not because you have to.”
Near the beginning of his speech, Daniels, unable to resist, said, “Gretchen Wilson, I am so proud of you.” Then, over the sound of crying babies, he talked about not giving up, no matter what.
“You should never, never, never give up on a dream,” he said. “Don’t ever let anyone tell you you’re not good enough, that you’re too old.”
He ended with “Class of 2008, Welcome to the rest of your life.”
At 18, Anthony Heady isn’t sure where he’ll go from here. Heady, who dropped out of school his junior year, just signed up for four years in the Army, so he has some time to decide.
“Eight months before I turned 18, I decided I wanted to turn my life around,” he said. “I finally get to walk.”
At 75, Raymond C. Davis Sr. got his GED, he said with a smile, because “my children kept after me.” Davis left school at 15 to be a coal miner, one of the few options available for young men in his West Virginia hometown back then.
The Church of God pastor has looked for something to keep busy, but every job asks “high school diploma or GED?” “I can’t do a whole lot physically, but I don’t want to sit. So this will open some doors. If I sit down at 75, what am I waiting on?”

Joe Nichols Day....
:)
The city of Knoxville proclaimed it "Joe Nichols Day," and with the aid of local businesses, gave the artist a hero's welcome. Billboards located throughout the city thanked him for his efforts to raise money for the school. He performed on WBIR-TV's highly rated "Live at Five" newscast after visiting WIVK and air personality Gunner. In the end, the event raised more than $6000 to put towards upgrading the facility.
"There's nothing like getting in there and performing for a bunch of teenagers," the artist said. "I haven't had that much fun since I was in high school! They really know how to have a good time. And I have to say, they have one of the coolest principals I've ever met."

The Art Of An Oak Ridge Boy
William Lee Golden of the Oak Ridge Boys celebrated his 15-piece art exhibit at historic Monthaven mansion in Hendersonville, Tenn.,
During the reception, William Lee confessed that when he began painting a few years ago, he never told his singing partners about his new hobby. “I would keep my painting supplies under the bus while we toured and get it out and paint in my hotel room,” he says. “So, the guys wouldn’t know until I brought it out.” But on William Lee’s big day, fellow Oak Ridge Boys Joe Bonsall and Duane Allen were on hand to help him celebrate. “Beauty moves me just like hearing great songs,” William Lee says. “It [painting] has opened up a whole new world for me.”

The donation will be used to benefit both the Local Disaster Relief Fund in Middle Tennessee as well as the National American Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund. The funds will also be used nationally to provide immediate emergency assistance to victims of disaster. “Taylor’s generous donation will be used to help her neighbors in Middle Tennessee and also across the country when the next disaster strikes,” says Colleen Zakrewsky, CEO, Nashville Area Red Cross. “Taylor is a role model for young adults everywhere who want to help prevent, prepare for and respond to emergencies and we are honored she chose the American Red Cross as the recipient of these funds.”

Fender Introduces Terri Clark Signature Guitar
A Terri Clark signature acoustic guitar has been introduced by Fender Musical Instruments. The company, which markets signature electric guitars endorsed by Eric Clapton, John Mayer and others, recently introduced a Buddy Miller acoustic model designed in cooperation with the singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist. The Clark guitar features a traditional design with her initials inlayed in abalone and pearl on the headstock. Clark says her guitar playing has helped sustain her throughout her career. "I truly believe I may not have achieved what I have if I had not been a player," she notes. "I accompanied myself through every live label and publishing audition and played for tips so I could buy bread and milk when I first moved to Nashville."

Sara Evans married former University of Alabama quarterback Jay Barker today in an outdoor ceremony at a Franklin, Tenn. farm near Sara's home.
Sara's son Avery, 8, walked her down the aisle and the couple's seven children (Sara's three and Barker's four from their previous marriages) were their only attendants.
Nashville singer/songwriter Marcus Hummon, writer of the Rascal Flatts hit "Bless the Broken Road," performed the song during the short ceremony. Christian minister Joe Beam, who introduced the couple last fall, performed the ceremony.
Sara, 37, wore an ivory silk taffeta Vera Wang gown with a halter neck; Barker, 35, wore a Dolce and Gabbana suit. Guests were told to wear black, but the wedding's catering was decidedly more down-home, featuring fried chicken, beans, biscuits and macaroni and cheese.
"It was really very elegant, but Sara wanted it to feel like you were at her house," friend and wedding planner Traci Phillips of The Perfect Party told People. Sara and Jay were engaged last March. "It was hard for me to believe he was real and that he loves me the way he loves me," Sara told People. "I thank God many times a day for bringing me Jay."

FAITH HILL BRINGS JOY TO THE WORLD ON SEPTEMBER 16TH WITH LONG ANTICIPATED CHRISTMAS RELEASE
http://www.countrystarsonline.com/images/artists/2008/FaithHill_150.jpgThe much rumored, highly anticipated Christmas album from 5-time Grammy Award winner Faith Hill will bring Joy To The World on Tuesday, September 16th. The 11-song CD, which already has the industry buzzing, combines some of the season’s most recognizable and beloved classics, with one of America’s most respected vocalists.
The recording, which was 2 years in the making, features The Nashville Orchestra as well as the London-based choirs Metro Voices and The London Oratory School Boys Choir. Grammy Award winner David Campbell (Paul McCartney, Rolling Stones, Johnny Cash, Beyonce) provides a newly composed full orchestration for “Joy,” which gives such classics as “Santa Claus Is Coming To Town,” “Little Drummer Boy,” “Winter Wonderland” and “Holly Jolly Christmas” a fresh, unique and, at times, big band groove.
"I had a very clear vision for the type of Christmas album that I wanted to make,” said Faith. “Indicative of the big band orchestras of the 40s and 50s, with a full compliment of horns, stings, woodwinds, percussion and chorales. David's orchestrations were a gift. They embodied everything that I could have imaged; unique and beautiful, and yet they seem as though they were always intended for these songs."
Joy To The World will also feature the original single “A Baby Changes Everything,” written by Nashville songwriters Tim Nichols, Craig Wiseman and K.K. Wiseman. It features Faith at her finest, delivering a powerful and emotional vocal with her usual passion and precision.
“Joy To The World” is co-produced by Dan Huff, Byron Gallimore and Faith. It was engineered by Allen Sides.

New Lonestar Album on the Way ....
Lonestar introduced its new lead singer, Cody Collins, with a Christmas album last year, and now the band is on its way toward putting out a more traditional studio album in September, though the distribution will likely be anything but traditional.
For starters, the band has decided to release it on its own label. Plus, there’s a good possibility that they’ll make it available only through a few specific chains and on the Internet.
"We’re gonna try to get some distribution through Wal-Mart and some other avenues as well," guitarist Michael Britt says. "But I think eventually everything is going to be digital, ‘cause I think [even] Wal-Mart’s gonna stop sellin’ CDs in a couple years. At [Country Radio Seminar], Wal-Mart said they weren’t gonna be carrying music, and if they did, it would just be in little vending machines. I think it’s gonna go to digital. It’s so much cheaper to produce. Printing CDs and all that stuff is very time consuming and expensive. It’s so much easier just to give people a code and let ‘em download it."
Whatever avenue is used to get the music to the public, Lonestar believes this album will be an authentic, unfettered representation, since for the first time, they were able to record the project without anyone from a record company having a say in the process.
"There was no A&R people, there wasn’t a lot of pressure," Michael notes. "It wasn’t like you had to have the product out at [a specific] time. It was a lot of fun, and we did it the way we wanted to do it with no people lookin’ over us. This is kind of like behind-the-curtain Lonestar, what we’d do if we had our own free reins." Earlier this month, Lonestar held its fourth annual bowling bash for the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Among the acts who participated were Trace Adkins, Jo Dee Messina, Josh Gracin, Trent Tomlinson, Jimmy Wayne, Bryan White and Lady Antebellum:D :D

Garth Brooks And Pat Benatar Raise Their Voices For Charity
ST. PAUL, Minn.
Garth Brooks gave a rare performance this past weekend at a charity gala in St. Paul, Minnesota. He was the headliner at an event benefiting the Starkey Hearing Foundation, which promotes hearing health awareness around the world. A record five million dollars was raised at the annual awards Gala, held this past Saturday. Brooks stepped in to perform when the original headliner had to cancel unexpectedly. Pat Benatar also performed at the event.

Garth Brooks covered songs by George Jones, George Strait, James Taylor and Cat Stevens in a 45-minute solo concert Saturday at a charity event in St. Paul, Minn., that -- at $1250 a ticket -- raised more than $5 million for the Starkey Hearing Foundation.
Garth’s wife — Trisha Yearwood, who was in the audience — is a big supporter of Starkey, whose annual So The World May Hear Gala is set up to aid children with hearing problems around the globe. In fact, Garth told the crowd that his 11-year-old daughter, Colleen, suffered a 35 percent hearing loss and that Starkey fitted her with the right hearing aid.
Rather appropriately, sound ended up being a big part of the evening. Garth ran through several of his hits, according to The Minneapolis Star-Tribune, including "Much Too Young (To Feel This Damn Old)," "The River," "The Thunder Rolls," "Friends In Low Places" and his closer, "The Dance." In addition, he covered a bunch of the artists who influenced him, kicking off the show with Merle Haggard’s "Mama Tried," then adding George Jones’ "She Thinks I Still Care," James Taylor’s "Fire And Rain," Cat Stevens’ "Wild World" and Bob Seger’s "Night Moves."
"James Taylor is why I play music," he told the crowd. "George Strait is why I play country." Then he did a version of George’s first hit, "Unwound." Garth’s audience at the RiverCentre was packed with celebrities. In addition to Trisha, the room held R&B singer Sam Moore, pop songwriter Paul Williams, model Cheryl Tiegs, actors Lou Ferrigno and Robert Culp, astronaut Buzz Aldrin, golfer Arnold Palmer and baseball greats Ozzie Smith and Rollie Fingers.

Toby Keith's fifth annual celebrity golf tournament raised a record-setting $709,000 for Ally's House, an Oklahoma nonprofit that helps children with cancer and their families. The total bested last year's $500,000, pushing the five-year total past $2.3 million. Keith says "it really is even bigger than I'd hoped." The Toby Keith & Friends Celebrity Golf Classic included an eclectic auction, which featured such things as a dinner with Keith. Two of those sold for $35,000 each. Other top items included a cameo spot in an upcoming Toby Keith music video that sold for $25,000, and tickets to a Las Vegas Keith performance with meet and greet passes, which went for $12,000.

Johnny Cash's brother Tommy says Ray and Carrie Cash relocated there from California in 1969 and lived in the home until they died.
Johnny and June Carter Cash lived there briefly while an elevator was installed at their nearby home in Hendersonville, about 15 miles northeast of Nashville.

Eric Church Goes To Business School
http://img.gactv.com/GAC/2007/04/03/ericchurch07c_v_d.jpg (http://img.gactv.com/GAC/2007/04/03/ericchurch07c_v_e.jpg)
Eric Church has a new album coming this fall, and it appears that he’s decided to take the Donald Trump road to success: Like the Trump show "The Celebrity Apprentice," Eric’s turning his project over to students in a Vanderbilt University summer business management program to get the students some experience and to get Eric some fresh viewpoints.
The album, titled Carolina, is just one of the projects being thrown up to students through Vandy’s Owen Graduate School of Business. They’ll also tackle initiatives for American Airlines, Bridgestone and Caterpillar Financial.
"The consulting project for Eric Church is a big wow-factor for our students," said Vanderbilt professor Kimberly Pace. "They are used to solving business problems for big companies, but this is more personal. Using the business tools they have been taught will help them create a solid marketing campaign. The secret ‘x’ factor is getting to know the artist."
To that end, the students were given a crash course in Eric’s life and music Monday in a concert/interview staged at the Country Music Hall of Fame’s Ford Theatre, where country music historian Robert K. Oermann helped connect the dots. In addition, 150 members of Eric’s fan club, the Church Choir, were on hand to underscore the rapport he’s established with his most passionate consumers.
"I've always said that if you want to know who I am, listen to my music," Eric observed. "In order to understand my career, you have to meet my fans. They are my career; they're the reason I'm here. Having members of the fan club at this Accelerator presentation wasn't an option — it was essential. I'm glad that the students got a close-up view of what I get to see every time I take the stage, because it's truly a powerful thing." The first single from Carolina, "His Kind of Money (My Kind of Love)," is currently at No. 43 on the Country Aircheck singles chart.

Congressional resolution honors Toby Keith
:) Toby Keith's commitment to the U.S. military was recognized in a resolution introduced by U.S. Rep. Tom Cole in the House of Representatives June 10. The Oklahoma congressman noted Keith's six USO to visit troops on the front lines,
"Toby has done so much to show his commitment and appreciation to our nation's armed forces," Cole said. "He has given his time and energy to put on performances for our troops overseas and at home. He has really gone out of his way to support our servicemen and women and their families."
"I believe Toby deserves to be acknowledged for his work. He's shown a unique understanding of the dedication and difficult work the members of the Armed Forces do, and he has made it his priority to bring joy and entertainment back to them. I am proud to bring forth this resolution commending Toby Keith for all that he has done to boost the morale of the military. He has made Oklahoma very proud."
Keith, a native Oklahoman, has performed for more than 135,000 service members, most recently visiting forward bases in Afghanistan and Iraq in April. He has also made stops in Cuba, Germany, Belgium, Kosovo, Italy and Africa in his efforts to show his appreciation to those who defend our country

Farm Aid Helps Flood Victims
Farm Aid founder and president Willie Nelson delivered a grant from the organization to help the recovery effort for farmers in flood-stricken Iowa.
The donation from the group’s Family Farm Disaster Fund went to the Iowa Grassroots Coalition, a group of farm and faith-based organizations in Iowa. Further grants will help those affected in Wisconsin and across the Midwest, where at least four million acres of farmland are underwater. “Our hearts go out to the folks all along the Mississippi who are being affected by the severe floods that have taken out towns and farms in Iowa and Wisconsin,” Willie says. “At Farm Aid, we have had friends in these communities for 23 years who can deliver immediate support to family farmers, getting them back on the land, growing good food for all of us.” To donate, go to farmaid.org (http://farmaid.org/).

Merle Haggard Feeling "Better And Better" Every Day Since Surgery
Merle Haggard is back home after having lung surgery a week ago Monday. His publicist says "upon waking up after the surgery, Hag opened his eyes, yodeled and smiled." Haggard says he's feeling "better and better each day" thanks to the surgeon, his wife, and "the Tylenol pushers on the fourth floor" of the hospital. Tests show doctors were able to remove the tissue affected with non-small cell lung cancer when they removed the upper lobe of his right lung. His publicist says his post-operation progress was so rapid and successful that he was discharged on Saturday night

Concert industry posts record year despite economy
By JOHN GEROME, AP Entertainment Writer John Gerome, Ap Entertainment Writer
2 hrs 32 mins ago
NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The stock market is in the tank, the plant is closing and the neighbor is losing his home ... the perfect time to go to a concert, by one measure.
The concert business grossed just under $4 billion worldwide in 2008, the most ever for a year and up almost 13 percent over last year, according to Billboard magazine.
"Overall, it's been a pretty good year for touring," said Ray Waddell, who covers the industry for Billboard. "I'd never say it's recession-proof, but it's resilient."
In North America, the average box office gross was up 18 percent and the average attendance up 6.3 percent.
Bon Jovi's tour was the year's highest-grossing, based on the trade publication's data from Nov. 14, 2007, to Nov. 11 of this year. It grossed $210.6 million and drew nearly 2.2 million fans.
Bruce Springsteen was second ($204.5 million gross) followed by Madonna ($162 million).
The most lucrative country tours were Kenny Chesney, sixth on the list with $86 million gross; and Rascal Flatts, 10th with $55.8 million.
"It's not something you can get a fix for somewhere else," Waddell said of live music. "There's no other substitute for it, and compared to other things, it's pretty affordable."
Fans keep coming. First-week sales for Britney Spears' 2009 tour were strong enough that extra dates were added, and AC/DC and Metallica have already sold out shows for January and February.
Last month, concert promoter giant Live Nation reported third-quarter profit more than tripled to $139.9 million.
But Waddell warned: "It would be crazy to think that the economy and unemployment won't impact ticket sales at some point."
The squeeze may already be on in some places. In Nashville, promoters blamed slow ticket sales for canceling a New Year's Eve concert at the Sommet Center featuring Trace Adkins and Lynyrd Skynyrd.
John Huie, vice president of Creative Artists Agency in Nashville, which sets tour schedules for Tim McGraw, Faith Hill, Keith Urban, Alan Jackson, ZZ Top and many others, said more fans are waiting until the day of the show to buy tickets because they're uncertain about the economy.
Gary Bongiovanni, editor-in-chief of the concert industry publication Pollstar, noted that most of the tickets for shows in October, November and even December were sold in advance, before the latest round of bad economic news. The full effect won't be felt until next year, he predicted.
"The problem will be if we're still in this economic environment when summer hits, when so many acts go on the road," Bongiovanni said. "Even in good times the public has a hard time supporting them all, and obviously when people are unemployed they're not going to be buying concert tickets."

Merle Haggard Back In Business After Lung Surgery
Merle Haggard says he's in better shape now than before he had lung cancer surgery two months ago. He tells People.com that he's using an exercise bike in his house, and he's getting ready to go into the studio to see how his voice sounds. He didn't have to undergo chemotheraphy, but he lost the upper lobe of his right lung where a tumor was hanging, in his words, "like a fruit on a tree." Haggard is already planning to go back on tour. He jokes that he has to get back to work because he needs "an enormous amount of money" to maintain his lifestyle. He's 71 years old.

"Country music fan Jacqueline Sharp was very surprised to see Charley Pride walk through the doors of a local drug store in Ledux, Alberta, Canada recently. She was even more surprised when the country legend handed her a check for $933, the amount she paid a scalper for two tickets to his upcoming show in her hometown.
According to the Edmonton Journal newspaper, Pride heard about the exorbitant price Sharp paid a scalper on abstix.com, after her son wrote to his agent about it. Pride told the newspaper that he thinks online ticket scalping is unacceptable, adding, "That's why I came. I don't think it's right. I wouldn't like paying that much money to see myself."
Had she been able to get tickets at their regular price, Sharp would have paid around $68 to see Pride. She cried while hugging the singer, thanking him for the money and for the two floor seats he gave her to the show. "I felt like (I was) 20," she said. "He's one of the better performers I think I've ever seen."
A member of the Country Music Hall of Fame, Pride has had numerous country hits, including 'Kiss An Angel Good Morning,' 'Is Anybody Goin' to San Antone,' 'All I Have To Offer You Is Me' and 'Roll On Mississippi,' which is the official song of his home state. Pride is also a member of the Grand Ole Opry and has a star in the Hollywood Walk of Fame."
