Rate your favorite BBQ vendor!! Anyone know who won the various contests and their categories? I know who my favorite was. Thanks again for great food this year, Mike aka AZ BBQ!;)

This is horrible because I can't remember the name of the group that I gave my winning ticket to. As you enter the vendor group they were to the left and about 4 booths in. Best BBQ pulled pork and beef I've EVER had.

I don't know about you but I was stuffed. Everyone was so generous with their "tastes". We ended up going home with extra tickets after eating BBQ for 3 days.

AZ BBQ had the best (spiciest) chili. But my votes went to Tropical Heat for having, by far, the hottest BBQ sauce around. MMMMMM!

I was looking forward to the chili, but I only found two places that had any on Sat :(

By Sunday most of the vendors were sold out.. My husband and I walked around to the others that were left and gave our votes to the sausage guys.. They had the best BBQ sauce.. That could be the one usc voted for... not sure.. It was spicy... And we all know that it's the BBQ sauce that makes the meat taste better..

That just means that the festival was better attended this year than last and that's a good sign. Better up the up on your estimate for next year because word will spread if the gig was a success. Y'all are making me hungry, and I have to sit through a parent meeting on Washington D.C. before I'll get any grub. :p

Thom,

I'm curious on all the winners of the BBQ contest? Who took home the 30k?

The $30,000 was split in a prize pool
Example 10th place Brisket on Saturday was worth $100
1st place Saturday Brisket $1000
Sug Shack won the Grand Championship
They were parked on the end of the teams line
near the Craft Beers Tent

4Q won the Peoples Choice both days

People's Choice was actually won by AZBarbeque by more than double on Sunday and we thank all of you for coming out and tasting our BBQ and helping us to win that honor. Due to some promoter miscommunication, our votes were not counted, but we had more than double what the other team did. Completely Unfortunate as the rest of the weekend was incredible.

We really enjoyed talking with everyone who stopped by and getting to know you all a bit better.

We even had the local Police and Fire departments come by all weekend for lunch and dinner, so that was a great honor for us as well.

Great times and thanks for all the kind words..

Did you at least find our Booth? It would have been hard to miss, it was one of the most decorated ones out there. (We took 3rd Place on Best Booth as well.)

Sorry we missed you, hope you still got to taste some great BBQ out there..

I think our favorite was the Oleo booth. I may be mis-spelling it, but the pulled pork was the best...big moist chunks that fell apart. I don't like the super shredded pork. It was so tender and delicious!!!

Ticket turn in was 5:00. When all the other teams, other than AZBarbeque, turned their tickets in and were counted, Four Q Country had more votes than anyone. No one knows how many votes they had at the very end, and frankly it doesn't matter, as the award was presented to us. Part of winning the award is playing by the rules. So thanks to everyone for making us BACK-TO-BACK People's Choice champs!!

LOL, there was nothing posted about turn in times. For Friday's People's Choice contest, turn in was Saturday morning. For Saturday's People's Choice contest, turn in was Sunday morning. There never was any announcement or documentation stating turn in for tickets was 5:00pm on Sunday.

We did have one of the Promoter's Chronies come by our booth about 5:30 asking for our tickets. I told him we were still serving people who had tickets and he said we should shut it down, I asked why since we still had food and people still had tickets and he said to just give him the tickets I had then and that anything more we collected, he would add on later. So, I went into our RV to get the tickets, I was gone all of 15 seconds and when I returned, he was gone.

I immediately went over to the Promoter and told him that his guy had come by looking for the tickets and he just raised his hands in the air stating that he had delegated that responsibility out and he was not in charge of it. I then asked if he could call him to come back and he said that he could not. Next time we saw this guy was at the awards ceremony when he wouldn't take our tickets. Winning team had 131 votes, our total votes exceeded 240.

Once again, nothing documented stating turn in times, going off of the past two days, I had until Monday Morning and we were still serving people who had tickets.

Don't know why they wanted everyone to shut down when people still had tickets they had purchased. Guess they just wanted all of your money..

There were actually 4 teams that were still serving food that did not know about the ticket turn in, 2 of them would have beaten the 4-Q team. Us and the Chubby Hubby BBQ Team. They too were upset about the rule change and not being properly notified.

Oh Well... It's just a shame that all of you, the public, spent your hard earned money for tickets and had a voice in who won and your voice wasn't heard. Never thought it would happen in BBQ.

Nonetheless, thanks for everyone for their kind words and their votes. We know we won and we thank you for your support.

It sounds like a very common thread at Stagecoach. Take your hard earned money and make up the rules as you go along and of course change them just because you can and throw everyone off. I sure hope they can get better organized for next year.
