View Full Version : Late Starts Last Night
Just a question..Why did Big and Rich go so long last night? Seems like they stayed on stage way to long and consequently, Carrie Underwook and Tim McGraw were rushed?
Also, was that a normal show for Big and Rich? I'm not familiar with them and I was surprised by the 'rap' style to start and then it proceeded to be a bit of circus act. What was that all about?? why did they stay on stage sooooo long??

Sorry Cooter! I dont dig them to begin with then to force us to listen to that stuff, was pure torture for me.
But Jack Ingram made up for that for sure!!!
Check you schedule, Big and Rich were sched for 1 1/2hr. Tim Mcgraw and Carrie Underwood only 1hr. Plus how could Tim Mcgraw have been rushed? There was no one going on after him.

Good point, I think he just wanted to go home! Like he said all he had to do was get on his plane and ride for a few hours. So many more songs he could have brought to us! So sad :(

you can talk trash on big and rich all you want, but never ever about coachella ;)
Sad is exactly right. I kept waiting for him to start his show.
I don't think he HAD to rush, it just appeared he was trying to get out right on time, as though he had somewhere else to go or maybe even didn't want to be there any longer than he had to. I enjoyed Tim's show, brief as it was. I prefer to hear the artist sing, not all the circus/gimmicy stuff.
I would't go out of my way to see Big and Rich but at least they played to the crowd. Everyone complains about there show but somebody likes them because they were up there for longer than anyone else this weekend with the exception of The Eagles.
We were in the reserved section and we waited longer in the line to get out of the area than we did the entire 3 days anywhere else. Everyone was trying to leave. I'll leave it at that..

Ajax,
I think they got more time cuz they needed to have they're two other acts play too (cowboy troy & 2 ft fred). GET OFF THE STAGE, was all i kept thinking and I only came back for the last few minutes after Jack Ingram, who of course was GREAT.

Ok...
It was fun though....:D
But still...they must have some fans. Again I wouldn't pay to just see them by any means but at least they acted like they they wanted to be there (even in spite of everyone wishing them away!).
So many made a mass exit from the mane stage area during Big and Rich so when Carrie Underwood started, there was a huge backup and mass confusion!

yes...
They were one of the few that knew how to work the crowd and know where there payday comes from...
Ohhh how so many forget ...
Lets just face the facts all artist have there strengths some are strong live while others are studio and promo workhorses...
Still all great artists.....:D
Glad someone understands what i'm trying to say.

I thought the Judds and Rascal Flatts were both superb. Lot's of other excellent ones too. I hope they are watching the posts to get a good idea of who to book for next year!

I went for Big & Rich and I was not disappointed. I could have told you what to expect. You either like them or don't. They were rushed on the last song, but otherwise I was in heaven. I know no one else seems to agree, but I got my money's worth. So much so that I'm hoarse today! From Trace to Gretchen to Big & Rich feat. Cowboy Troy and Two Foot Fred ~ money well spent for me.
Ok, go ahead and continue on about how ghastly they were...

Ok, Big Kenny Alphin and John Rich, a.k.a. Big & Rich.
I'm not familiar with them and I was surprised by the 'rap' style to start and then it proceeded to be a bit of circus act.
It really doesn't bother me that people dis on B&R and Cowboy Troy, like I said you either like them or don't. What does bother me are the references to the circus is regards to Fred's presence. That man is a personal friend/proud member of the Muzik Mafia (which happens to include Gretchen Wilson). He socializes with the members of the Muzik Mafia off as well as on the stage. He is also a successful business man in his own right who happens to be a Dwarf. It bothers me when his presence is referred to as a circus.

I was not a Big & Rich fan going into Stagecoach, but I will be for life after the performance that threw out. They are not traditional country, but have enough musical talent and range to it all. Their show ROCKED! The only let down was the fact that Carrie Underwear came on after Big & Rick. What a buzz kill. One of my friends described the Big & Rich/Carrie Underwear line up as having the best sex in your life, then having to go to your grandma’s house.

This is more of a general comment than specifically Big and Rich related, although I didn't totally dig it....
[rant:]
My advice for the artists...
WE DONT WANT TO HEAR YOUR NEW SONGS! Play the good old songs that we all know the words to. We could all care less about your new album or the songs that you haven't released yet. Stick with what works.

That's how they get people to buy the new albums. P.S. The songs you come to love originally start on new albums! ;)

We have a convert! Yes!!
You about killed me with that last line.
May I just say that I didn't dig them when they came out. I thought no way. What is this? But songs like 'Holy Water', '8th of November' and 'Wild West Show', all of which we heard last night, started to show me the depth of both of their songwriting talents. It is mind boggling how many of the hits on country radio were written by those two. Several of Jason Aldean's songs, Faith Hill and Tim McGraw, Gretchen Wilson, a lot of people. I am so stoked that I finally got to see them in person!
I think Cowboy Troy sums them up best ~ "Big & Rich are candy for the ears and vitamins for the soul, if you can rap your mind around that."
End of commercial.:p

I never cared about seeing them before and we were actually going to leave during their set. I'M SO GLAD WE STAYED! People around us were like who is this guy (cowboy troy) I was like who doesn't know him, I have liked him since the first time I heard "Chicken". Anyway they all got the crowd going and they ROCKED! OMG I can't wait to see these guys again! They know how to keep a crowd entertained and they enjoy doing it, you can tell. They owned that stage Sunday night that is for sure.
I read somewhere I think in the rules where it said the entertainers would not be there after a certain time so maybe Tim couldn't stay like he normally would, maybe they have contracts they have to follow. I saw Tim and Faith at the Symphony in Nashville and they were on a time limit (rules they had to follow) and you can tell they were rushed and wanted so bad to interact with the crowd but it was the rules and that is that. Maybe it wasn't Tim's fault. I thought he was awesome! They all did a great job considering they had to deal with the wind.

Rumor I heard on the radio Monday morning, was Big & Rich were pissed off that Carrie Underwood was after them and they felt they should've played in her spot so they played longer so she would have less time in her set. SORRY, but Carrie Underwood BLEW them out of the water her voice is amazing! And a lot more people were cheering for her more than Big & Rich.

I don’t want to start a Big & Rich vs. Carrie Underwood pissing contest here, but COME ON!!! Carrie Underwood has got a voice, I’ll give you that, but all of her songs contain 2 lines and they are sung over and over at different speeds and different ranges on the music scale. That is it! Big & Rich have a little funk, soul, class, character and insight to life that conveys to the listeners through their music.

I totally agree. Carrie can sing, thats for sure, but we are there to be entertained and Big & Rich and Cowboy Troy (whom I personally admire - that man has got some balls to get up there in front of a bunch of white folk rednecks and do country rap!) most definately pumped us up! Of course there was also a rockin' performance by TRACE - that super HUNKADONK!!!
We all have our opinions and such....my 2 cents was I though Trace should have been the main headliner on Sunday and closed the show. He was FANTASTIC and had everybody up and rockin it.

I agree with Rose. Trace was Amazing.
About Tim McGraw...I saw him 2 years ago with Faith at thier Soul II Soul tour and he was GREAT then. I was really disappointed with his short performance. And what was up with his eyes, he looked either "high" or drunk, and then he never really knew where he was. He kept saying "this place" and THEN who forgets the words to thier own songs??? What a let down.
As for Big & Rich...my friend was backstage with her daughter and they approached "Rich" for an autograph and he said " No, I'm a superstar" and walked away...what a jerk.
All in all, my daughter and I enjoyed ourselves. She LOVED Taylor Swift and MOST of the artist were great.
Oh Ya, Whiskey Falls ROCKED the Palomino stage. I'm a new fan!!!

I heard that if the artists go past there times they would get fined by Goldenvoice. Trace had the best comment on stage when he said," I don't have time to talk so we're not going bullshit and play you some music."

After George Strait's 45 minute encore last year I was told by a Golden Voice employee that the artist has to pay something like $20k every 15 minutes because the people working the event get overtime and the artist has to pay for them. George Strait needs to close next year because he doesn't give a crap about the $$$, it's all about the fans. Tim didn't feel like spending any extra $$$ on the fans so he ended when he was supposed to. Kenny Chesney did the same thing last year. They really could give a shit less about the fans. They're there for $$$ and $$$ only. Remember that. The camping is a lot more fun anyway. Fogerty and the Eagles out rocked everyone anyway BTW.
